Lulu Guinness returns to QVC... and Catherine Huntley can't wait!

Catherine Huntley at the Lulu Guiness boutique in New YorkHello everyone, Catherine here!

Lulu Guinness is back... and boy, has she been in demand. She's been so busy recently with London Fashion week, but she's taking time out of her hectic schedule to come back to QVC this Friday.

I had the great pleasure of launching Lulu Guinness bags on QVC earlier this year. The premiere show sold out so quickly, we didn’t get much of a chance to chat to Lulu herself. I was so disappointed.

I fell in love with Lulu Guinness bags instantly, and I even visited her New York boutique when I was on holiday. Check out the piccy! Keeping two teenagers amused on holiday was hard work, so a trip to Lulu's boutique was my little treat - Mum's half hour of 'me time'. It was absolutely divine!

Lulu's show is going to be a busy one, so join me for a girly night this Friday at 8pm. Straight after the Lulu Guinness show, I'm also presenting the stunning Jacqueline Kennedy collection. It's a great collection of jewellery, and much talked about too!

Bags and jewellery - a fab way to start the weekend, wouldn't you say?

Glen fills us in on all the gossip from the Comfort Prima Awards

Glen Campbell Hi there,

I went to the Comfort Prima High Street Fashion Awards last Thursday and thought I'd fill you in on all the gossip. It took place in London's Battersea Park and it was certainly an evening full of glitz and glamour!Comfort Prima High Street Fashion Awards

QVC was the official hair and beauty sponsors with Leighton Denny on hand to take care of nails, Louise Galvin in charge of hair and Sue Devitt was the make-up guru! They all did a great job providing the finishing touches to the models and pampering the guests.

Tignanello handbags come to QVC!

Carla LaszloHi everyone,

My name is Carla and I'm going to be launching Tignanello handbags on QVC TV this Friday (5th September). I thought I'd pop down and give you a sneak preview before the show. I'm so excited to be representing such a wonderful range of handbags and launching them on QVC!

If I had to describe Tignanello bags in three words, I would use 'high-quality, classic and functional'.

Tignanello was started 19 years ago by a man Lenny Dreyfuss who wanted to make beautiful leather handbags at affordable prices.

Kathy Van Zeeland chats about her bag collection

Kathy Van Zeeland Hi everyone, Kathy here!

Since my bags are appearing on Friday's Fashion Day, I thought I'd pop down and have a little chat about them.

How I started
I started Kathy Van Zeeland bags about four years ago when I was designing for one of the biggest accessory companys in America. I really wanted to start up on my own as I thought I could bring something fresh to the market.

My maiden name is Van Zeeland, so I named the company in tribute to my father who had recently passed away. Plus I have three sisters and wanted the Van Zeeland name to continue.

Jilly Halliday has a fashion flashback

Jilly Halliday Hello everyone!

As most of you guessed, it was me in the photo! I was five years old at the time.

When I was younger I used to love all things pink. I still do actually but I've toned it down a bit now.

My friend, who I've known for over twenty years, always reminds me of the time we were in a West End show. On the very first day of rehearsals I turned up dressed from head to toe in a hideous fuchsia pink outfit! You could see me a mile away!

Catherine Huntley's summer style

Catherine HuntleyHello everyone,

As the British summer has been a bit of a wash-out, I thought I'd reminisce about sunnier times and holidays!

Pre-holiday rituals
Before I go away I use a bit of fake tan so I don’t stand out like a lily-white beacon on the beach! It also helps me to get into the holiday mood.

Other than that I'm quite last minute when it comes to the planning, and spend the first day realising I've forgotten everything! Usually the travel adaptor, toothpaste, knickers etc!!

Claudia Sylvester reveals her fashion disaster pics!

Claudia Sylvester Hiya, Claudia here!

Did you guess who the young presenter was? Lots of you got it right...it was me!

Since you saw me in my leg-warmers, I thought I'd have a chat with you about my fashion disasters. I've made a few in my time, and I've got the pictures to prove it…

Fashion frights
My biggest fashion faux pas was when I was 15 or 16. I used to have a crazy Claudia in a prom dress sense of style back then! I'd cut up different pairs of brightly-coloured tights and sew them together! So I'd have one blue leg and one pink leg! And then I’d wear a bandana around one knee.

I’d also wear a skirt with braces and a short boxy jacket that used to belong to my brother!! Now that's what I call weird.

I was known for having a having a wacky style and I even appeared on Noel Edmond's Late Late Breakfast Show looking very strange! But then a friend started to copy my style and I stopped. I would look at her and think she looked really silly so it gave me a wake up call!

Alison Keenan reveals her fashion disasters

Alison Keenan Hello all!

In my time I've made a rather large number of fashion boo boos! But I'd like to think my fashion sense has improved dramatically over the years - mainly because of my job and help from others in the business!

Fashion disasters...
For my 10th birthday my nanny bought me a pair of long black PVC sock things that you were meant to wear with court shoes so they looked like boots! I wore them to school and was ribbed all day!

After the birth of my last son Jack I spent a great deal of time wearing skin-tight floral leggings, baggy jumpers and laced-up boots... not a good look but practical and cheap!

Oh, and in the early days of hold-ups, I used to wear a pair that didn't... HUGELY embarrassing for myself although entertaining for the other diners in the restaurant.

Catherine Huntley's style

Catherine Huntley Hi everyone, I'm doing my Accessory Picks show today at 5pm, and thought I'd chat to you about my fashion loves...

My style
I can't really define my fashion sense, if I like it I wear it. I do love the fashion of the 1940s and 50s, it's so glamorous! Dressing seemed to be an art form back then with co-ordinating accessories and the Hollywood perfect make-up.

Totally in contradiction with that, I love my jeans and live in them when I'm not getting glammed up. I used to wear some really punky styles back in the day too!

I believe you should never pigeon-hole yourself, wear what makes you feel good and if that's a tutu and boots or a twin-set and pearls then I say good for you!

Glen Campbell: My top tips for sizzling summer style

Glen Campbell with fashion model Hi everyone!

Summer is a great time to play around with fashion trends, but it can also be quite tricky to know what to wear and how to wear it. But don't panic, I have a few tips and tricks to help you take the hassle out of summer style.

1. Choose the right fabric
Fabric choice is really important in the summer; if you're going to wear black or brown make sure the fabric is soft and loose. Sheer fabrics are great as they keep you cool and looking summery. Cotton blends are great too, check out Kim & Co for some lightweight trousers and tops.

Claudia Sylvester chats about her summer holidays

Claudia and her daughter Bella Hello! Hope you're enjoying the summer!

This is a pic of my daughter Bella and I on holiday in Cyprus recently. We had such a lovely time.

Before the holiday
I love going on family holidays. Before I go I always get a spray tan at my local salon so I'm not too pale. That way I'm not tempted to sunbathe, not that I get much chance with three active children! I'm always on the move - swimming, chasing them along the beach, going on treasure hunts.

Glen answers your summer fashion worries

Glen CampbellHello everyone,

I hope you're all ok and enjoying the warm weather! Thank you for all your questions, I hope the answers help.

Hi Glen
I'm a fairly young 46 (ie no wrinkles yet!), I'm somewhat chunky but luckily in proportion. However, I have really big upper arms, way out of proportion to the rest of my body (17"!!) I always end up in stretchy T shirts etc....HELP (sniff!)

Glen says: Being worried about your upper arms is a common problem. Soft, sheer fabrics that hint at skin are great for summer. Satin, silks, linen and mesh are all good fabrics to go for and can be worn day or night. For evening wear, go for beaded wraps or pashminas - these will hide your upper arms but won't add any extra bulk.

Jilly's summer fashion tips

Jilly Halliday Hi everyone!

I love summer holidays but sometimes choosing the right things to wear can be a bit of a dilemma! Here's my advice on how to dress for the warmer months...

My summer essentials
When I go on holiday I have to have a really good pair of large sunglasses! Not only do they make a fashion statement but they protect the delicate skin around the eyes. My Crocs are also an essential - quite chunky footwear I know - but they're so handy for travelling and you can't ruin them in the sea.

I always pack a couple of long sarongs - when I'm away I wear them from breakfast until dinner! I always buy plain block colour sarongs as they are much more versatile than the printed ones.

Glen Campbell works his magic at the BAFTAs

Glen CampbellHello everyone! I hope you enjoyed watching the BAFTAs on TV. You may have spotted some of the celebs wearing QVC jewellery, I helped them choose their accessories.

QVC's style suite

I had a style suite on Friday where celebs attending the BAFTAs could pop in for some style advice and choose jewellery from QVC to complement their outfit. Some of them brought their outfit, a few brought photos and some came without anything and we just had to work from memory!

The celebs

We had a constant flow of people throughout the day. Melinda Messenger picked a beautiful Butler & Wilson bracelet.Melinda Messenger Lucy Speed dropped by, she actually got her dress from the high street, so she picked some chic jewellery to complement it. She doesn’t like anything too over the top, so I helped her pick a Butler & Wilson pearl bracelet and a gold pearl ring.

Camilla Dallerup from Strictly Come Dancing wore a dress designed by the winner of Project Catwalk.  She was a little worried about choosing the jewellery to go with such a contemporary dress, but we found her some great pieces by Butler & Wilson and Joan Rivers.

Some of the celebs couldn’t make it to the style suite, so we sent jewellery out to them. I sent a fabulous Butler & Wilson necklace and earrings to Joanna Lumley. Michelle Collins wore a gorgeous Vivienne Westwood dress, and she chose Butler & Wilson accessories - a chunky red bracelet, small red hoop earrings and a chunky black ring.Camilla Dallerup

Best dressed

In my eyes, one of the best dressed people was Ellen Page from the film Juno. She wore a long, backless black dress with a deep V neckline and pretty beading detail.

The BAFTAs used to be seen as the Oscars not-so-glamorous British equivalent, but now people are definitely making more of an effort to look fabulous.

Meet jewellery designer Mischa Sundstad

Mischas Mischa Sundstad has been involved in the fashion industry for 20 years, but we know her best as silver jewellery designer on her range Mischa by Design. She was at QVC getting ready for Silver Day on Sunday 23rd March and she spoke to us about Angelina Jolie, design inspiration and funny moments on air...

What sparked your interest in jewellery design?
As a model I travelled the world and was inspired by the things I saw. My first inspiration is fashion, but I became interested in shapes in the natural world, such as unfurling baby ferns and the beauty of raw gemstones. I've used these themes in my jewellery by creating clean, bold designs without heavy embellishments.

Carson Kressley's fashion tips and gossip

Carson_kressley_2Carson Kressley is best known as the fashion expert on hit TV show 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy'. He's also starred in 'The Perfect Man' with Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear. He's currently working on the US version of 'How to Look Good Naked' as well as presenting his fashion range Perfect. He gives us some great fashion tips and lets us in on how he's grown to admire Victoria Beckham.

How did you start your career?

I was working out at the gym one day and I was dressed head to toe in Ralph Lauren - I was even carrying this basketball that you had to buy a gallon of fragrance to get free. There was a head-hunter there who said, 'You're so Ralph Lauren, you should work there', and so I said, 'Well, get me a job!' and two days later, I was working there! I worked there for seven years and later came 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy' in 2003 and here I am international superstar and retail phenomenon!

Have you ever made a fashion faux pas?

I do it all the time! I wore a pair of chute pants in the '80s and I had a keyboard tie - it was very bad! I've burned all the photos. I still make fashion faux pas but it's better to take a little risk and have some fun - if you understand yourself, your body and your fashion, you'll be a success 99% of the time. If not, no big deal!
