Louis Barnett's new range comes to QVC!

LouisThose of you with a sweet tooth will be delighted to hear that on Saturday 5th October, QVC is preparing to launch a fabulous new range of luxurious chocolate products from Louis Barnett! In honour of this exciting event, we thought we'd find out a bit more about the man behind the brand.

At just 13 Louis became Waitrose’s youngest ever supplier, eventually moving on to source on behalf of huge names such as Sainsbury’s and Selfridges.

Shortly after opening his first chocolate factory at the tender age of 15, Louis began exporting worldwide, supplying some of the world’s biggest retailers. Now at just 21 Louis is an internationally recognized entrepreneur, motivational speaker and published author.

Tell us a bit about yourself

After being diagnosed with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and other difficulties, I left school at the age of 11 to be home tutored. Because I was allowed to have a more vocational and practical education I explored my own interests and turned my passion for chocolate into a business! I began making chocolates at the age of 12, and as well as continuing with my entrepreneurial interests I now speak, write and coach others about how to succeed in business.

What makes the Louis Barnett range different from your competitors?

As a Callebaut World Chocolate Ambassador, I'm one of a very select few. A position that can only be secured by invite only, I am one of the youngest ambassadors to be appointed in Callebaut's 100 year history. Since I studied chocolate at a molecular level, my products use truly unique flavours and do not use palm oil. As I say it's not what you put in, it's what you leave out that makes my chocolate products so different!

I only allow the highest quality ingredients to be used in my creations and source my cocoa beans from around the world with the help of leading suppliers at the forefront of the chocolate industry. It's also important to me that I offer my customers only the finest in bespoke products encompassing everything from packaging to marketing testing!

What is your favourite item from the range and why?

My favourite is definitely the Cola Fizz bar! Inspired by my love of these sweets as a child I was excited to create a natural cola flavour treat with a little fizzy kick!

Any tips for budding entrepreneurs keen to follow in your footsteps?

I am passionate about encouraging other young entrepreneurs like myself and write frequently for Virgin.com giving advice to those thinking of starting their own business. As well as hard work and dedication, it's all about delayed gratification and you must be prepared to put long hours in and sacrifice your free time! Above everything you must have a genuine passion for the direction you are taking.

Don't forget to tune in to the Saturday Night Gifts show at 8pm on 5th October to hear more from Louis Barnett and try this fantastic range for yourself!

Louis Barnett sounds very interesting person.
I have to record the programme tomorrow as I will be at a family gathering elsewhere. As person in my 40's with dyslexia/dyscalculia and other difficulties I love to hear about people who have succeeded and done what he has done.
such a different world now to when I was in school in 70's and early 80's. Well done.
