Our senior buyer shares her recent beauty discoveries
We caught up with QVC's senior beauty buyer to find out what her latest discoveries are and what what's new for spring 2013…
"Ok, so listen here ladies (and all you beauty loving men, I know you are out there!) I am about to give all my secrets away...well some anyway!
As Senior Beauty Buyer at QVC I have the pleasure of seeing all the new and exciting products that are entering the world of beauty and there is nothing better than finding a new beauty gem.
My desk if full of fragrance samples, the new lipstick shades for summer and the next on-trend nail effects - it's amazing how I get any work done really!
Tried and tested beauty
That said I have a few trusted products that I always seem to go back to. You know what it is like ladies, there are certain products that no matter how much you try to venture into the world of innovation, when it comes to the crunch you know you have them to fall back on.
Laura Geller's Balance-n-Brighten is one of those products for me. I recently rediscovered this amazing product having forgotten how much I love it. It is great for anyone on the go (which suits my busy buyer life).
Just a sweep of the blush gives your complexion a soft coverage that is truly buildable to achieve every kind of look. I throw this in my handbag when I have to go out straight from the office, it instantly freshens my look up for the evening.
Talking of evening, if you are feeling in the glamorous mood there is nothing more seductive than the sweep of a good eyeliner to make the eyes pop. Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner is what you need. Ok, so it takes little getting used to (steady hand needed ladies) but once you have the knack there is no going back!
In this cold, snowy weather though there is nothing I like better than turning the heating on, grabbing a hot chocolate and treating myself. My Eve Lom cleanser always seems so luxurious for a cleanser. It removes every scrap of my make-up, and trust me ladies I like my make-up! It leaves my skin so clean and soft like I have been for a facial.
For the nails I treat them to a swipe of Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat. It is one of those products I am constantly rediscovering, because lets face it, is so very good!
I also couldn't live without my Philip Kingsley paddle brush. I forgot how much I loved this and was reminded when we started to sell the mini version in the current Philip Kingsley Try Me collection. Now I can have one for home and one for the handbag - perfect!
So come closer now because this is where I reveal my newest excitement - Algenist launching this Beauty Day (Sunday 27th January), I am so excited! This range was developed by a team of biotechnology scientists in San Francisco - not the usual beauty route you may say and you would be right.
They were developing new renewable energy solutions and unexpectedly discovered Alguronic Acid which is now the key ingredient of the skincare range Algenist.
All I can say is the effects on the skin are fabulous. For all those concerned about wrinkles and aging skin, give this a try, It is going to be one of my new heroes! When I saw it I knew you would all love it!
What's new for spring?
For all those fashion divas out there that think you have seen everything when it comes to nail polish, think again! Rediscover your polish passion with the new leather-effect nail varnish from Nails Inc.
I am wearing 'Rebel' (black) now! I love the fact it is so innovative and different and cant wait to see it on QVC in March and watch out there are more colours to come - I'm bagging 'Romance' a fabulous mulberry colour coming this spring! Don't worry if leather is not your look, we have lots of exciting new products launching this spring.
My top tips to watch out for are Decleor's tinted hydra floral BB cream - I know it is going to be fabulous! Then there's Josie Maran Argan Oil, a multi-function product you will wonder how you ever lived without and watch out for the new Red Carpet Nails Collection. I am not going to give it away but for you classic ladies out there make sure you tune in."

So excited about Josie Maran Argan Oil being stocked on QVC. I tried a sample of this from the states and it's amazing on skin and hair. Can you tell me when it will be on air so I don't miss it?

I know that you are bringing us a Red Carpet Manicure TSV on 18th of feb, presently you stock RCM essentials replenishment kit with the foils & pads, RCM do this kit with either foils & pads or cuticle oil, could you please start stocking both kits to give customers choice as many people dont want foils? Could you maybe also larger sizes of prep & erase (maybe as a duo)? Thank you.

I was wondering if you ever thought of introducing Eyesential to QVC. it's an amazing under eye liquid which eliminates under eye bags for about eight hours.I have been using it for about three years now and I wouldn,t be without it even though I have to buy it from another shopping channel.I must add that I have been with QVC since day one.

This is what I would like - more tsv's in the £20 mark! - bigger reductions and cheaper p and p.
Kim Parrish clothes back
Kim and co winter dress in nice tsv - and for petite range to not mean petite all over. Just a shorter length fine.
Liz Earle eyebright in the single with cheap pand p - then i would be more likely to buy it from qvc than other.
Lenny to bring us more dresses for us ladies who are about 5ft 3"
the eyelash treatment to be a lot cheaper in the tsv! too expensive!
More real gem stones in silver
But love qvc and how great to get opportunity to speak to the buyer, you do a good job!
thanks

Hi jennifer'
I used to buy a product from loccitane which was the ultra senenstive shea mask, which was a brilliant mask it gave excellence results, much like the gatineau one, for me anyway. However it is no longer for sale by loccitane. As qvc are now doing more of the face products would there be any chance you could as ask "the powers that be!!", to bring back this mask. Many thanks mairead

Hi Jennifer,
That is a great idea and something I will be sure to bring up with Laura next time I meet with her in a couple of weeks.

As senior buyer, could you arrange to sell Laura Geller's Balance & Brighten in a duo without the brush? If you are a regular user of this product, I'm sure you don't want to pay for a new brush every time. I would purchase much more of this product if I could buy it in a duo. Currently, I'm only buying one every 18 months or so and when it runs out I use another brand until I see B&B sold in a collection which I think constitutes good value for money. This product is very popular and I'm sure it would do well sold in this way. Thank you.

I recently heard of something called Molecule Oil Perfume. I actually asked a lady I was talking to what her fragrance was and apparently that is what it is called.
She said it was available from Harvey Nicks and I have also seen it on Amazon.
Would this be something that QVC may stock ? It smelled absolutely amazing and is apparently taking the Capital by Storm !
