QGossip caught up with the lovely Lotte Duncan to talk about cakes, cakes and more cakes! Lotte is a baking and cooking expert and is coming to QVC tomorrow at 2pm to present her scrummy cakes and desserts to you lucky lot!
How did you get in to cookery?
Cooking and food is all I've ever really thought about! My mother encouraged me when I was little and my school let me run riot in the Home Economics room. After school I trained in Cordon Bleu cookery and have never looked back! I've been cooking for 25 years now, 10 of them on television.
What makes your cakes and desserts so delicious?
My cakes and desserts are handmade by an artisan bakery in the New Forest. Expert, locally based chefs and bakers make all the cakes, and a lot of love goes into each one. Oh and they're all made from free-range eggs - I insist on that.

Preparations for the QVC Garden are still on track. It's all quite relaxed at the moment, but the excitement is building all the time.
Visiting the forge and the quarry
I've been up to Anwick Forge in Sleaford to sort out the ironmongery. They're doing the steelworks for the water chutes on the garden walls (see the picture of the garden, right), and they've been making up a few ideas for me to have a look at.
We've agreed the colour will be a gun-metal grey. As well as the chutes they're also doing the grid for the top of the raised fire pit in the cooking area, which should look great.
Tim and Fran at the forge are brilliant and they love what they do. I worked with them last year when they supplied the steel works for my Chelsea garden, so we've got a good working relationship.
Plant-wise, I've spoken to David Howard from Howard's Nurseries, so I know my plants are coming along nicely. I just need to finalise a few shrubs.
I've also been to the Clipsham Quarry to see the Clipsham stone we're using for the water features and poems. We've chosen the font for the poems, which I can only describe as curly and romantic!

How big does each tree lily grow to?
These tree-like shrubs will put on a lot of growth in just three years, reaching a mature height of up to 250cm (98"). Here's their rate of growth:
Year 1: 90cm - 120cm (35" - 47")
Year 2: 150cm - 180cm (59" - 71")
Year 3: 180cm - 250cm (71" - 98")
Are tree lilies perennial?
Yes, they'll come back year after year.
