Catherine Huntley: Jackie or My Guy?

Hi everyone,

I recently read Debbie Greenwood's blog about her hot date with David Cassidy. It made me giggle but it also brought back memories of those old photo stories in magazines like 'My Guy' and 'Jackie'.

Debbie mentioned Jackie magazine but I was a My Guy girl. I think it came out every Thursday and it was always so exciting to hear the letterbox rattle as my weekly fix arrived! It was even better if they included a free bangle or Wham bar on the cover.

The photo stories with the speech bubbles were the best, though. Wouldn't it be funny to do a QVC photo story with familiar QVC faces? Maybe I'll see what I can do...

Pipa: I love my brand-new bag from B Makowsky

I'm so excited! As you well know, like any other woman with half a hormone, I love my bags and shoes and yesterday became the proud owner of what I think is possibly my favourite bag EVER!!!

Hi, me again!

Hope you're all well and have had a good week. All's well with me - I had a busy Saturday on air with that brilliant Northern Nights TSV and some great Christmas shows.

It was a pleasure to speak to some of you during my 'Presenter Picks' show and if you haven't called in before or nerves have got the better of you, then please call in next time. I promise it's a fun experience and I love to know that you're out there enjoying the show.

Well, the Christmas party season is well and truly here! I had a great time last week at the 10th Anniversary of 'Open House with Gloria Hunniford' in the West End. 

A few years ago, I used to deputise for La Hunniford when she was on holiday. Do you remember the show? Channel 5 every afternoon? Gloria would open her front door and be totally shocked day after day to find 300 guests in her living room.

If the truth be told, it was always easy to get audience members, who were mostly senior citizens, tired from shopping in Oxford Street and needing a bit of warmth and a sit down.

It was a great show. All the big stars appeared on it, stars like Cliff, Boris the Tarantula, SAS members (whose faces had to be blacked out for anonymity while maximising publicity for their books), Daniel O'Donnell and our own Glen Campbell.

Well, what a disaster…

I can hardly believe that last week I was talking about her birthday and just a few days later my mummy has only gone and broken BOTH her ankles! She doesn't do things by halves does she?!

They have plastered one (a fab shade of purple) and she mustn't put weight on it, but has to hobble on the other one is ALSO broken so she's in terrible pain.

Alison Keenan: Microphones, Christmas and my old Mini

Even though I was working three days this week and didn't get to see Dale, Sara or Julian, I checked QGossip and now I know what they've been up to! 

Both Dale and I had busy shows with Dennis Basso on his anniversary visit this week, and it's always great fun to spend any time with the big man himself - Dennis that is (Dale's quite sweet too)! 

That aside, it's always a problem knowing where to put my microphone during these hours so that when I try on all the coats it's not buried in a faux fur collar!

We managed but I'm currently in talks with our sound department to see if I could have my mic worked into my hair-do like in the West End musicals, which would be perfect unless Dennis brings us a selection of hats next time - which will be the 2nd December if you want to make a note!

Jill Franks: pets and grooming

Hi everyone,

When the crisp cold days are here we love to take our 18-month old English Bulldog Scruncher (named after his scrunchy face and wrinkles that bulldogs are famous for!!) for his winter holiday to the coast.

He loves the freedom of the beach. We also love the coast too, and enjoy the long coastline walks. We wrap up warm, take our winter wellies, picnic with a large flask of hot chocolate. We have so much fun.

Oh, and we mustn't forget a few doggy treats. After Scruncher's busy weekend in the quaint village of Alum Chine, Bournemouth, we ensure he is well groomed.

The Furminator (823731) is part of his daily grooming routine. He just loves the feeling and it leaves his coat so glossy.

The Pet Hair and Lint Remover Sheets (828534) are perfect too if you are dressed ready to go out and have a few stray hairs from your pet!!
