I recently read Debbie Greenwood's blog about her hot date with David Cassidy. It made me giggle but it also brought back memories of those old photo stories in magazines like 'My Guy' and 'Jackie'.
Debbie mentioned Jackie magazine but I was a My Guy girl. I think it came out every Thursday and it was always so exciting to hear the letterbox rattle as my weekly fix arrived! It was even better if they included a free bangle or Wham bar on the cover.
The photo stories with the speech bubbles were the best, though. Wouldn't it be funny to do a QVC photo story with familiar QVC faces? Maybe I'll see what I can do...
I tell you another magazine I used to adore, 'Smash Hits'. They used to print the lyrics to the songs in the charts, nowadays all you'd have to do is Google for them, but back in 'the good ol' days' I couldn't wait to scour the mag for my fave '80s chart topping tunes.
Remember Five Star? Yazz? Brother Beyond? I loved UB40 and, to this day, they're probably my favourite band and haven't they stood the test of time?
I wish I'd kept some of those old magazines but I still have the memories clear as day, and would love to hear your memories of those days. So were you a Jackie or My Guy devotee and did you sing into your hairbrush, like me, thanks to lyrics in Smash Hits?
Can't wait to hear from you!

Hiya Catherine, Priscilla here in Manchester. I'm sorry I don't have time to chat just now, busy trying to get my cards finished!!! I'm just wondering what address to send you a Christmas card to please? I've heard the presenters say that they have people write to them, and it has never occurred to me until now, where they actually send the mail to? I know Julia and Claudia in particular seem to have lots of fan letters, but I've searched the Qvc Homepage, and I can't see an address, can u help me please.
Hope u are ok, I will e- mail u soon, when I get these cards finished. I don't know how u find the time to go to work and make cards Catherine!!!!!!!!!!
Lots of love,
Priscilla xxxxx

Hello 'V' (sorry, it only says vneedham so I'm assuming you are a 'V')
Thanks for your sweet message of congratulations, well spotted but it's not an engagement ring. It's from our 'Tacori for Diamonique' collection. It is certainly very believable and I wear it a lot. It even gets me looks when I sometimes take the train to work, the sunlight catches it and it dazzles like a disco ball!
This is definately the best place to look for your QVC Gossip so if anything changes.....wink wink
Happy Christmas!

Hi girls!
Your comments made me smile. I had forgotten about 'Just Seventeen' as well! My cousin and I used to also make up routines and sing into our magic marker pens but, worst of all for them, we made our mums sit through hours of our performances! We used to be very literal with our choreography, too. An example being Abba's 'Winner takes it all' as we'd mime taking it all and then being the loser standing small! Hee hee! Don't even get me started on how much I loved the two of us trying to be all of the Nolan sisters together!
Teresa, I'm so envious you got to see Ali! I've never ever seen UB40 live and now he's left, boo hoo! I don't know if I could choose a favourite song but I do love 'Homely Girl' as I was always the awkward homely girl in school, the one people asked out for a joke and I'd like to think I've now grown into myself and that song makes me smile.
Now I've just remembered thursday nights waiting for Top of the Pops! Remember that?

Hi Catherine
I also love UB40 and would say that they are my favourite bad. I was fortunate enough to see them at Wembley last December before Ali Campbell decided to leave the group. What a shame - I don't think it will be the same without him now. My favourite song of all time is Red Red Wine.
Best wishes to you and your family for Christmas.

Hi Catherine.
Yes i used to do the same. Scour Smash Hits for the lyrics to all my favourite songs. Me and my best friend used to learn them off by heart and make up our own dance routines. I used to get Jackie too and Just Seventeen i think it was called.I couldn't wait to get them. They were the good old days indeed.
Love Rebecca.

Gone are the good old days! I was into them all, but Jackie was my favourite. What are today's equivalents? Compared with the 70s, today's teenage society is a lot more mature. Too far advanced, I feel. Kids should be kids, and that includes indulging in innocent love stories while feeling, simultaneously, that you are reading something you ought not to.
