Meet our first Breast Cancer Care model - Lance Bryant
We promised that we'd introduce you to the models taking part in this Fashion Show, and here's the first!
Lance is one of 24 models who took to the stage for Breast Cancer Care's annual fashion show on Wednesday 1st October.
Lance is a single parent, and often had to take his four-year-old daughter Charley along to his radiotherapy sessions. 'The staff were amazing with both of us and she used to sit and watch me on the monitor screen - she loved seeing Daddy on telly!'
Breast cancer is rare in men, with only a few hundred new cases diagnosed each year. And Lance knows from experience that the warning signs are easy to ignore. 'I would say to any men out there to definitely get checked out if they feel anything different at all, anything which they feel is not normal.'
So, how is Lance feeling about his moment on the catwalk? 'I'm really looking forward to The Show, not because of meeting all the stars but because of meeting other people who are in the same situation and raising awareness of the disease in men.'
Like Lance, all the models have been diagnosed with breast cancer and all of them are keen to show that you can still look and feel great after a diagnosis.

Maybe Lance you might like to talk with my husband when you have done your bit on tonights show as he was diagnosed with breast cancer early on in the year. He was one of the lucky ones that all he is having as his treatment is the "pill" for the next 5 years, after having it cut off. BUT sometimes he feels very alone and would like to talk things over with a man who knows what he is going through. Good luck for tonight- enjoy yourself -you are doing a grand job.

Hi Lance,
I just want to say "good for you". I had Breast Cancer myself 8 years ago and was amazed that it was not generally understood that men get it too. During my treatment I met many women undergoing the same as me and two men, both of whom were highly embarrassed by their predicament, not because they had Breast Cancer, but because of the general chorus of disbelief when they told others what they were going through.
Anything that can be done to raise awareness, especially in men, is well worth doing and you are an inspiration to all.
My best wishes to you and Charley and I'll be rooting for you when you make your appearance at the show.

Hi Lance,
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for sharing your story with us. My auntie was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and, sadly, it's very advanced. I was very touched to hear how you've now decided to help others through raising awareness. You are remarkable and an inspiration to others.
I look forward to watching you strut your stuff and next time I start worrying and fretting over stupid little things in my life that don't matter, like traffic jams and supermarket queues, I will try to stop and remind myself of you and your amazing spirit.
All the best to you and Charley from me and mine.
Love Catherine xx
