Claire Sutton celebrates her 10th anniversary at QVC

Claire Sutton 10 years ago Claire Sutton as she looks todayClaire Sutton has been gracing our screens for 10 years and QGossip caught up with her as she celebrates her anniversary. Here she reminisces about her first ever show, her highlights and most embarrassing moments.

What was your first ever show like?

I remember my first show being about pop-up tents and I was so nervous; I didn't have a clue where the camera was! It was so new to me - I'd come from being a dancer to presenting.

What has been your highlight from the last 10 years?Claire Sutton, her husband Dan, Julia Roberts and Simon Wilson on location in the Bahamas

There have been lots, but it has to be the Bahamas trip I went on with Julia Roberts. I didn't actually film until the fourth day, so I took advantage of the beautiful surroundings, sunbathed and went to meetings - it was lovely.

It was a wonderful setting, we had a great crew and I'd only been there 18 months! Plus, I'd only just got married so my husband flew out and we had another honeymoon.

I was also lucky enough to do Vicenza 2007 which was a beautiful gold event I presented with Dale. The setting, the glamour and the jewellery - it was just perfect.

In three words, how would describe your presenting style?

Enthusiastic, upbeat and when I'm presenting gold I like to think I've got a sophisticated approach.

Who has been your favourite guest presenter?

Joan Rivers

I love working with Joan because she's just so naughty. You don't know what she's going to say next.

There was a classic moment during her show Classics Collection. I got a phone call on air from a woman called Edna. She was chatting away to Joan, but I didn't think anything of it until the producer told me in my ear that it was Joan's close friend Barry Humphreys as Dame Edna Everage. The team were laughing in my ear, and I was completely oblivious to the fact that Joan had been in on the joke. It was very funny, but quite embarrassing too.

Have you had any drastic hair styles?

During my pregnant stages, my already thick hair seemed to get even thicker. It went really curly which I loved, but it was so much harder to control. I was constantly styling it for the shows, so I literally ended up with this set bouffant-style helmet.

Have you got any tips for budding presenters?

You have to be generous with airtime when you're presenting with another guest. Allow them to speak and always listen. Also, retain your natural warmth and personality - don't try and be something you're not. And never be afraid to question a product or a guest, always ask why.

Love Claire
X

So, to join in with Claire's celebrations tune into her special 10th anniversary show on Monday 27th October at 3pm.

Well done Claire - you are one of my favourites - YOU'RE Quite a Vivacious Co-host(Q.V.C.)so you and QVC are made for each other! I love watching you but can only do so when I finish work, unfortunately. Love the show, QVC is the GreatestTV shopping channel. Love to everyone Bye! Lusia x

Hi Claire, Many congratulations on your 10th Anniversary. Just read your comments and those from your children and your mum .. aw.. how lovely.. and then you yourself putting a response on.. that was so touching that I had to include my own by saying that is so like you, you have a real warmth and special quality..Everyone talks about your hair and lovely clothes and thats true but it is who you are inside that shines for me. Taking time out from a busy day off to answer ladies who obviously think a lot about you says it all.. I love to watch you on Honora days.. and bought floating pearls for my pearl wedding as a recommendation from you and Ralph.. God bless and lots of love Well done Claire..X

Claire, watching you is tremendous fun. You have a way of playing with the camera which is rather naughty at times. I think a lot of presenters have much to learn from your use of language, body language and interpretation. Congratulations on ten years of doing it for QVC.
