Here at QGossip we're always on the look out for new make-up tips and beauty trends, so we leapt at the chance to meet with Mario De Luigi, who has over 20 years of experience as a make-up artist and beauty trend-spotter.
What are your top three tips for applying make-up?
1. I believe that your make-up look cannot be perfect if the canvas is not perfect, so you must apply foundation before applying any colour.
2. A black eye pencil, mascara and an eyebrow pencil are the essential tools to quickly enhancing the shape, size and colour of your eyes while keeping them looking natural.
3. Before applying your lipgloss, take a nude lip pencil and blend it all over the lips. This will give you a more even colour and make the gloss last longer.
How would you describe your beauty range?
My range is for the elegant woman who doesn't have much time to dedicate to their make-up but who still wants that perfect look.
The range features more than just simple colours. The products are also caring formulas with lots of active skincare ingredients.
The aim of my make-up is to act like a natural second skin and also to be long lasting.
What are the current beauty trends we should be looking out for?
I follow all the beauty trends around the world but, as someone who also creates make-up trends, I always think about their wearability - especially for women over 30. My range is based more on essential products with a hint of trendy colours.
For the autumn and winter season, colours are intense and you need to apply the make-up in a very defined way using blue and grey tones as highlights, then adding a touch of white and skin-toned colours.
For your lips, the trends are red and intense pink tones like fuchsia, or dark red brown tones. Blush is important to even out and it connects the two principal make-up areas: eyes and lips.
Do you have any make-up tips for revitalising tired eyes?
To give your eyes a new, rested radiance I recommend following these steps:
1. First apply the foundation all over the face and around the eyes (upper and under eyelid).
2. Then use a concealer with a pink base shade to retouch the under-eye area, blending it in well. You could also do the same with a light translucent compact powder, tapping the area with a velour puff.
3. Don't use any sparkling products as they could work as a magnifying lens and show up the tiredness even more.
Which celebrities do you admire for their make-up and why?
Helen Mirren is one of my favourites. I believe that's the real way to look, no matter what a woman's age. Her make-up is simple with a fresh look, and she has a smile that shows wellbeing!
Less natural but with a great look is Glenn Close. I believe that women today who are over 50 have more image personality than younger women. With young women it's sometimes difficult to understand who they are; they're all similar and change their looks too often, and that means they're not sure of their value.
The only woman who suddenly changed her image but became a style icon is Madonna... and she's allowed to do it!

I totally agree! It is the best! I am now running out of my MDL Italian Marble Powder and it's impossible to get it anywhere. I don't understand why they would stop making it! Please please please, can you bring it back? Or does anyone know if there is anywhere I can get hold of it?
