Tone up with Tony Little

Tony_little Tony Little is the larger-than-life 'personal trainer to the world'. He has been a popular fixture on American TV for over 20 years and his company has 46 million customers, so who better to give use tips on shaping up this New Year?

Tony's tips:

Get started

"The hardest part about a work-out is getting started, but you almost always feel better afterwards. Using music with a good beat while you work out keeps you interested"

Find time

"Fit exercise into a time-slot that works with your life - don't try to do something you won't be able to keep up. So if you have a busy job you really need to get it out of the way before work, because you know once you get in your hours are going to go over and you're going to miss your workout. Other people have to switch it the other way."

Pippa Gordon: Merry Christmas everyone!

Pippa_at_christmas Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm having a really relaxed Christmas, we're moving in January so it will be the calm before the storm. Last year I was too busy to really enjoy it, so this year my husband, the children and I are going to take a few days out to kick-back, eat good food, have some fun and hopefully see some snow!

Have a magical Christmas,

Love

Pippa

Carson Kressley's fashion tips and gossip

Carson_kressley_2Carson Kressley is best known as the fashion expert on hit TV show 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy'. He's also starred in 'The Perfect Man' with Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear. He's currently working on the US version of 'How to Look Good Naked' as well as presenting his fashion range Perfect. He gives us some great fashion tips and lets us in on how he's grown to admire Victoria Beckham.

How did you start your career?

I was working out at the gym one day and I was dressed head to toe in Ralph Lauren - I was even carrying this basketball that you had to buy a gallon of fragrance to get free. There was a head-hunter there who said, 'You're so Ralph Lauren, you should work there', and so I said, 'Well, get me a job!' and two days later, I was working there! I worked there for seven years and later came 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy' in 2003 and here I am international superstar and retail phenomenon!

Have you ever made a fashion faux pas?

I do it all the time! I wore a pair of chute pants in the '80s and I had a keyboard tie - it was very bad! I've burned all the photos. I still make fashion faux pas but it's better to take a little risk and have some fun - if you understand yourself, your body and your fashion, you'll be a success 99% of the time. If not, no big deal!

Cosmo recommends big-gem rings as a luxury choice

Cosmoplitan_dec_christmas_look_bookDecember is always spent buying gifts for others, but there's no reason why you shouldn't treat yourself too - at least that's what Cosmopolitan thinks.

Marco Pierre White on Christmas cooking and Hell's Kitchen

Marco_pierre_whiteMarco Pierre White was in presenting his fab kitchen appliance range today so we took the opportunity to speak to him about Christmas food, Hell's Kitchen and his dream dinner party...

Do you have any tips to give Christmas dinner a special twist?

I've got to be honest, with my turkey I like bread sauce. I do like bread sauce, I don’t know why.

A turkey is a turkey, and what makes a turkey special at Christmas is the sprouts, the roast parsnips, the roast potatoes, the stuffing, the cranberry sauce, the gravy, the chipolatas, the chestnuts. It's all those things that make a turkey special. And when it comes to making the gravy, always use the turkey's giblets.

What's your favourite Christmas food?

I'm a great a traditionalist and always believe you should have turkey on Christmas Day. And on New Year's day, goose. I'm a great believer in tradition and it's deep-rooted in my family.

Julian Ballantyne at QVC's BCC Christmas Carol Concert

Julian Ballantyne The carol concert was fab. I finally realised I was an adult. When invited, I had memories of sitting in a cold church listening to boring speeches and singing along badly to carols, but nothing could have been further from the truth.

The speeches were fantastic and very amusing, the choirs were both great, and meeting QVC viewers, who - like me - really enjoyed the whole event, was a real delight. When we consider that it was all for a great cause, it made it even better. Alas, my singing has gotten no better over the years but a great time was had by all... and all washed down with some hot mulled wine.

Charlie Brook: the strangest Christmas product I ever demonstrated!

CharlieWe recently sold this teddy bear - you hold a bottle to its mouth and it drinks and drinks and then burps and breaks wind. That was hilarious and I think a lot of people bought it as a Christmas gift. It's kind of cheeky - it sold out, everyone loved it.

Pippa Gordon: how is your Christmas shopping going?

Pippa_at_christmasHi,

How is your Christmas shopping going? I'm weird with Christmas shopping, I get a kick out of the last-minute rush, but I like a bit of organisation so I've got most bases covered. I don't go overboard and get them all wrapped up - Christmas Eve is wrap-up night. I hate wrapping presents, but I like them to look nice and we do great kits with bags and bows so I can chuck them in a nice bag and they look great with not much effort.

Lots of love,

Pippa

Hark, the QVC angels sing!

Choir_800x600_2 It was difficult not to feel Christmassy here at QVC the other day when children's choirs started their auditions for this year's School Carol Competition. Three schools - All Saints, Sacred Heart and Sir James Barrie - are competing for top music prizes, including Yamaha drum machines, keyboards and guitars, plus money from QVC. The schools are from Wandsworth, the London borough where QVC TV is broadcast.

All the children got goody bags and watched how their performances were turned into clips ready to show on QVC TV. A lot of giggling could be heard coming from the edit suite as they watched recordings of themselves singing!

See the three performances from Friday 21st December and get ready to vote for your favourite! Don't worry - all the schools get prizes!
