We’ve been experiencing some frosty temperatures of late! Recently on my way to work it has been as low as -2C so please wrap up warm! The best way is layering lots of natural fabrics and a feather and down coat, check out some great value offers, plus Easy Pay instalment deals from Centigrade here at QVC UK.
Even in the thick of winter our skin is still impacted by harmful UV rays and so those concerned with anti-ageing require protection from the elements. Whilst we might be maintaining our hydrating skincare routines by layering on elixirs, serums and moisturisers please don’t neglect SPFs. Just because it’s not warmer and sunnier it doesn’t mean that harmful UV rays aren’t still attacking away, ageing our skin at a dramatic rate.
Lots of skincare gurus and experts that join us on QVC tell us how damaging and ageing UV rays can be and that they’re responsible for up to 80% of all ageing to the skin. I’ve heard some guests say that UV rays are the single most ageing and damaging factor that our skin faces. The problem is that UV rays age our skin all year round, not just in the summer or on sunny days. We all spend so much time and money on preventative methods and repairing crèmes and moisturisers, but you might be missing the most important part of anti-ageing – that is SPF!! I guess the point to all of this is – please, please start using a good quality high SPF as part of your anti-ageing skincare regime. Remember not all brands are protecting you from both UVA (ageing rays) and UVB (burning rays).
Here are some you can rely on:
Dr Russo SPF30 Sun Protection Brush On All Day Moisturiser – (pictured below left) an antioxidant, multi-vitamin ACE formula with retinal peptides and elastin. Easy to apply, with good coverage to help protect and therefore limit the appearance of lines and wrinkles. This moisturiser also helps with hydration, plumpness and firmness – it’s worth paying the extra for the added skincare benefits I think.
Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield SPF30 – (pictured above right) another favourite of mine. It feels and looks totally different, the difference being that once on the skin, it not only protects and moisturises, but also has a blurring effect on existing lines and wrinkles, plus it gives a flawless look and a great priming finish for liquid foundations and BB creams.
Gatineau Perfection Ultime Anti Ageing Complexion Cream SPF30 – (pictured below left) a lightweight intensive hydration moisturiser with a tint to perfect the look of the skin. Ideal for those no make-up days because it still blurs imperfections. This goes on really well, feels lovely on the skin and comes in a choice of three shades – a lovely daytime SPF for holidays, it’s great to wear year round.
Ultrasun Sun Protection Extreme SPF50+ – (pictured above right) this is the ultimate in protection. As strong as it gets for extreme conditions or those that want block. This waterproof formula is enriched with Vitamin E and designed to give up to 8 hours protection even if you’re perspiring or engaging in water-based sports activities. It’s slightly thicker in terms of consistency but does the job well and is available in a duo. Recommendations say that this should go on before your skincare.
My top pick (pictured above) is this Alpha-H Protection Plus Daily SPF50+ Duo. Worth its weight in gold for me. A it gives you SPF50+ in a lightweight formula. This helps shield you from the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays whilst providing hydration and leaving the skin with a matte finish. It glides on then drys down in seconds. Putting make-up over the top is no problem because it acts as a primer. I’ve skied in this for years and I never burn – this for me is the ultimate test, I carry it up the mountain and re-apply through the day.
All the leading experts are now saying protect protect protect! You’ll be glad you did! Remember it’s not just about holidays and sunny weather but year round, every day. If you are serious about anti-ageing then don’t miss this step!
Until next time!
