Preparing for fireworks night and a new guessing game

Bramble looking at cakeHello!

I hope you've had a great week. Can you believe half term for the kids is here…. where has the last couple of months gone? Flown by!

As I write this I've been tucking into a delicious hot buttered muffin and jam. It's all eaten now but I'm sorely tempted to toast another…. I will resist until the blog is written.

I'm also listening to a CD. I don't think you'll guess the title that easily. No, it's not the lasted Celine Dion release or Matt Goss (which I'm loving by the way!), it's actually a CD of sounds! Literally!

We're doing our best to prepare Misty and Bramble (our two cairns) for fireworks night. I'm hoping the CD will help 'normalise' the sound of fireworks for them. It's a great CD and isn't exclusive to the sound of fireworks. Planes, thunder and lightening, sirens, motorbikes and lawn mowers, plus many others, are there to entertain you! It's a great concept and I think will really help.

Speaking of the puppies. I say puppies, they're just over a year now – are they still classed as pups? I couldn't resist showing you this photo of Bramble eyeing up the cake I made when trying out the Bamix. Speaking of which – this is the montage my daughter put together when filming me prepare the mix for some shortbread… which was delicious by the way!

Misty on guard duty

Not wanting to leave Misty out, here she is lounging in her favourite spot on the top of the arm chair. We call it her lookout as she is able to peek through the blinds and 'keep an eye' on what's going on outside. Ironic isn't it, we buy them the most lavish of beds and blankets but they so often end up in the most random of places!

Guess the pictureI thought I'd introduce a new feature to my regular blog… Identify the picture. It's just for fun and I'll reveal the answer the following week. The close up picture could be anything from an everyday object to a cartoon character or a QVC product to wildlife.

I've tried this game on my Twitter before with what I thought were really hard pictures but they were very quickly guessed by so many. I'll reveal the answer in my next blog. See what you think?!

Looking at my schedule I have one of my favourite jewellery ranges this Saturday 26th October at 1pm – Links of London… Fabulous! I hope you can join me. Ooooh, and I see I'm on with EasiYo at 3pm… Delicious!

OK, that muffin beckons!

Take care and see you soon,

Charlie x

    Hi Charlie,
Im still struggling to come to terms with the fact that the beautiful Amica lost her fight. Your tribute was lovely. If you are in contact with her family be sure to let them know how much she meant to the QVC viewers.

    Hi Charlie,
Your sponge looks good enough to eat, and your biscuits you made. Clever you. That Bamix looks really good. I must admit I love my Kitchen Aid which I got from QVC of course. Would not be without it. Did you watch any of the Great British Bake off show’s. Maybe you should enter for next year. It was on BBC2.
Yes firework night coming up, although our Labradors are use to gunshot, we still have two or three that hate the fireworks, they will not eat their food and hide in their kennels and shake.
We had a thunderstorm and heavy rain last night, and they would not eat their supper, they sensed there was a storm about, very clever dog’s are, we do not give them enough credit, well I do.
My two Labrador pups Hinton and Diesel are a year old at the end of this month, party time.
Looked at the picture you put up, the middle part looks like a tail of an animal, have you taken up milking cow’s, really do not have much idea as to what it is. It will be interesting to know what it is.
Easiyo, now that is good, I made a Caramel and a Greek and Cranberry one yesterday, and also tropical fruit smoothie.
Talking of Yoghurt I give my dogs Plain Greek Yoghurt about once a week in their food, it is really good for them, they love it.
Anyway Charlie enjoy your Show’s at the weekend.
    Love Jean X

    Hello Jean,
    Lovely hearing from you.
Sounds like you really have your hands full. Sorry to hear some of your labs hate thunder and fireworks, it’s horrible when they quiver and hide under the table isn’t it.
Bramble doesn’t like thunder where as Misty really couldn’t care less!
Reading your comments has made me yearn for Easiyo…. I think Greek with coconut is in order!
    Take care
    Charlie

Is the item in the picture a type of coffee machine. Your dogs are cute sounds like they get up to the same sort of mischief as my dog does.

After-noon Charlie. Just got back from Christmas shopping [ oh boy it’s manic out there]. I’m late this year as you can imagine.
Bella and I are watching Links at the moment. Mum said ” have you had a hair cut”??
Hope the CD works for the girls, unfortunately it didn’t work for Bella although I have heard great reviews on the CD’S. So I guess I’m in for bad few weeks. Not sure how we’ll spend our Tuesday evenings now Destination Gems has finished this year.
Have a good half term with the children.
Take care. Love Debby and a big Whoof from Bella. Bella say’s Whoof to the girls.x

Hello Debby, sorry to hear the CD didn’t work for you. I think we’re having rather good success. The real test will be when firework night is here. But fireworks seem to be set off many days before and after the actual night!
I’m missing Dest Gems already. Fingers crossed it’ll be back in 2014! Well spotted by your mum, I certainly have had my hair cut!
    Take care
    Charlie
