I just wanted to catch up with you all and a special thanks to those of you that I met at the Beauty Bash that waited so patiently and politely to speak to me.
There was an underlying theme to many of your questions that I would like to share with everyone. Firstly, one of your most common areas of concern, more so this year than before, was the neck area, and many of you were already using neck products from your favourite brand but are wanting more results.
The way to accomplish this is to firstly, make sure you are using your existing neck product both am and pm, and applying it all around the neck and jawline until your fingers touch at the back and all the way down the fan of tissue across the décolleté and down to the chest. This application technique can be inhibited if you don’t remove your jewellery and by what you are wearing, i.e. in the winter, do your night time routine with either a towel around your chest or a very loose robe or sleepwear so that your hands with the product on can easily reach these areas. If the bathroom is cold, as it often is, transfer your treatment regime products with a mirror and some cotton wool and tissues to a warmer area of the house such as the kitchen or the lounge if that makes it easier.
Increased results can also be accomplished if you exfoliate and/or peel the area more intensely than the face, and further results can be achieved if a mask is applied, and even more results if a piece of electrical machinery is used to stimulate the skin. This is about the maximum result you could do with your existing brand. If you still want more results, you need to step out of these favourite products and step up to a stronger ingredient if needs be.
Allergies can (as do illness, stress and life) cause skin sensitivities and I was recommending that you all have just one or two products in your regime that you always own that are as simple and pure, so that you can step down from your full regime of products to this two-step treatment to lessen the confusion of a large amount of ingredients (see my blog post on sensitive and eczema skin). I was also recommending the free-from make-up brands that allow you to have skin confidence with make-up that is kind to you such as Tarte , on the nails Little Ondine, or the Original Bareminerals Formula.
Many of you were asking – although you are using an existing great brand – for more results and my answer here was often two-fold. Sometimes you were asking for a result that is not achievable and you were focusing on areas that you felt were weak in your skin or your looks where in actual fact, other people; friends and family, would not notice and they would see your good points – so my message sometimes is to focus and concentrate and build your confidence up on your strong points: beautiful hair, gorgeous eyes, a warm smiling face, a glowing complexion. Make sure you don’t become too overcritical of yourself as this can lead to unhappiness.
For those of you where further results were achievable, it was about either increasing the frequency of application of your existing products, increasing or adding more exfoliation or peels into your regime (as this can bring a better absorption of ingredients, thinning in the wrinkle and the look of ageing), or stepping it up to a stronger ingredient to hit the problem harder.
I was thrilled to meet so many of you and it was wonderful for me to see how much you enjoyed using your beauty regimes and what great results you were all getting with all of our beauty products and how much you loved the advice that we give on air and yes, I will continue to tell you what you don’t need to buy because not everything is needed by everyone.
