Planting begonias in hanging baskets

Apricot begonias  Hi Richard,

Could you please let me know how to plant Begonias in a hanging basket. Do you plant them round the top of the basket or through the sides of the basket as well? I would be grateful for any planting in the baskets.

Miss Doreen Robinson

Hi Doreen,

It depends which begonias you are growing. If it's the semperflorens bedding begonias then they should be planted at the top and sides to create a fantastic ball of colour.

Tuberous begonias, like apricot shades, will easily cover the basket if simply planted at the top. And they will look great. But for an even prettier and even more colourful display, I would certainly plant a few around the sides too (three or five, depending on the size of the basket).
