Witnessed by her children and their best friends in an intimate ceremony in a small church near her home, Pipa married Brian last month.
Let's go back to the beginning…
Due to a series of events (financial and family), they both had to leave Uni after that first year, and they moved to Pipa's home town in West Sussex. It was there Brian suggested it would be a good idea to get married and build a future together.
Pipa didn't feel ready and thought that if she wasn't ready, he couldn't be 'the one'.
After an on-and-off few months Pipa finally ended the relationship and Brian moved across to the West Country. A move helpfully aided by Pipa's mum's best friend who wanted her son and Pipa to get back together having dated a number of years previously.
Being before the days of email etc, a three hour drive was far enough to create space that would allow everything to die naturally and so it did, sort of.
Busy leading separate lives, unaware that the other wasn't doing so great, they shared pleasantries on and off but were committed to their own lives. Never entertaining the idea of rebuilding old friendships.
Fast forward a few more years and Brian's name came up in conversation. Now with everyone being so connected through social media, Pipa decided to check in on him and see how life was.
They exchanged emails for about six months discussing tomato plants, swapping recipes and the joys and hurdles of life in general.
They finally arranged to get together for coffee. This time both being single, their romance was re-ignited; it was as though they had never been apart. They started dating properly last year after she moved up to Stratford upon Avon. Then when Brian proposed this June, getting down on one knee outside their old University student union, the place they first held hands, Pipa was only too happy to say yes.
She says; "He was then and is now, the most amazing man I've ever known".
A month later Pipa got her fairytale ending and walked down the aisle with Brian…
