Hello Mat, Just wanted to say what an inspiration you are for us budding Photographers. I have a Fuji S5700 which was purchased a couple of years ago from QVC. I would love this new one but at present cannot afford it.I still however get superb pictures from the one I have. I am a an ex Merseysider living in Croatia and the beautiful scenery here gave me the impetus to buy a Fuji camera. There is so much to inspire the Photographer here, I must have taken thousands of pictures. I do have one problem though and wonder if you could offer any advice. I have used the video mode to film the beautiful cruise ships that pass by our apartment at night which turn out really well. However, I have never been successful in taking a still picture. It is very dark here and the pictures just turn out with streams of light all over the place from the ships. I have tried various modes to no avail. I wonder why the camera picks them up in video mode but not picture mode. I would be so pleased to receive some assistance.
Look forward to seeing you on your next visit to QVC and maybe I will be able to upgrade my camera then.
    Many Thanks, Patricia Kurton

A very informative set of tips. I however bought the amazing HS20EXR a few weeks ago and I wondered if there were any appropriate tips for my camera as I find the manuals hard going. P.S .I am 64 and not a computer wizzkid

    Hi Mat
We bought this camera and have taken some lovely photos with it and the video function is brilliant too!
My one and only concern was the battery charger and rechargeable batteries…the instructions tell you to charge up for at least 8 hours, but after only 2 hours both the charger and batteries were ‘red’ hot to the touch, not something we’ve encountered before. Is this correct? Obviously, reluctant to use for safety reasons.
