Parties in the ‘Parcs and in the back garden!

Debbie and Nigel A lot to tell you about this week, so I've kept each bit brief!
-    Rocker Nigel and me on a wonderful getaway to Center Parcs
-    The Rise calling – Peter Andre's backing group talk behind the scenes
-    And little niece Issy turns two…

Elvedon retreat
Well if you've followed my blog long enough you'll know that Center Parcs is one of my favourite holidays in the world – and right on our own doorstep! Hence my first week away with my wonderful new man Rocker Nigel at the lovely woodland sanctuary near Thetford.

We cycled everywhere, he cooked me some (more!) amazing meals and did his Doctor Doolittle thing with the animals – he's quite a nature lover is Nige – bless him! Fab time in the pool, the subtropical paradise – with its rapids and lazy river and water chutes. Then we relaxed in the Aqua Sana spa – even had a fish pedicure again! Lol.

One of my favourite activities was playing American Pool – the Rhodes way!

We also had breakfast on the final day up in the revolving restaurant – and finished our last night with a lovely meal in the Italian restaurant on site – before it was time to pack up and come home again – but not before we'd taken a quick spin to the Tiptree tea rooms near where I used to live.

Considering how full-on I can be sometimes – apparently – (Bradley my son has just told me this…) we survived the week happily, and came out of it with Rocker Nigel and I talking about when we can go away again, which can only be a good sign right?! Lol. No seriously, it's very good fun going out with him, and we're having a lovely time. It's so nice that we've known each other for so long too – 30 years ago, those drama classes were. And we've got so many little things in common too.

More tea vicar So without getting too in-depth or soppy, suffice it to say I'm having a very nice time dating this good looking guy who's one of the nicest, funniest, easy-going-est people I've ever met. He's proved a big hit with the family that have met him so far, too. Including Lauren and some siblings, but not including Brad or my mum yet! But am sure they'll love him too… So there you go – finally, your update on the new romance! Here's a pic of Nigel doing his 'more tea vicar?!' in the Lakeview restaurant, where we watched wakeboarders trying to do their stuff in the lake, whilst we indulged in a full English!

Very relaxing I must say. Roll on the next holiday… Where do you suggest we go next?

On The Rise
The Rise I was chuffed to bits to be one of the lucky presenters interviewing Peter Andre recently when he was on to perform his single last week – (still available through QVC – called Perfect Night). Behind him, you may have noticed the two guys in the background – they are The Rise – and look like being rising stars – literally – so I thought I'd have a quick chat with them just before my interview with Pete. Did you see it? Hope you enjoyed it! And good luck to the boys. You can follow them on Twitter too, like I have!

Issy turns two
Bojana and Issy on her second birthday Finally this week, having come back down to earth from my Center Parcs hol with my lovely man, it was off to see the rellies again for little Issy's second birthday.

She is always a delight to behold and so funny – as is sister Lara. Without my two kids around much – Lauren's just finishing uni and Brad was on a London-Brighton bike ride for the weekend (!) – it's always fun to be reminded of the younger years by visiting the nieces.

'Visiting' being the operative word though I have to say! It's nice to see them, and nice to know I'm done with the formative years – with my two lovely kids aged now 24 and nearly 22, they're fully 'formed' – kind of! This is Bojana, Issy's mum and my lovely sister-in-law (pic above left), unable to resist getting in the kids' ball pool too!

Couple of lovely trips to look forward to in the next few weeks – it's going to be busy. Take That concert, plus off to the RNA conference next weekend, where I have my first ever one-to-one with an actual editor from the publishers I've been writing for. Eek!

Then the weekend after, it's a boot-camp trip as a treat for niece Becky as a thank you for looking after the dogs for me earlier in the year. Then the Friday after that, it's off to Bath for Lauren's graduation. July will whizz by and before you know it, it'll be August and closer to next Christmas than last! Whoops – the C word! Better stick with C for Center Parcs for now, and one last lovely memory from my fab hol with a fun guy. Have you ever had these special 'visitors' inside YOUR villa there?

Best wishes,
Speak soon,

Debs, How about the postponed Nile trip or if he doesn’t mind a bit of archeology, Gobekli Tepe temple in Turkey which was built 7000 years before Stonehenge. Or perhaps going on Safari in Kenya and then you could wear your animal prints !
    Finished the book yet ?
    Take care, Nige

Hi,LOVE center parcs. We go to whinfell in the lake district- don’t know if you’ve ever visited that one but it’s lovely.Mind you we only have red squirrels there, none of the nasty greys! We love to feed the animals there and one had a pheasant stroll into our lodge -obviously still a bit peckish.
Center parcs is a bit like QVC land,I like to spot kipling bags and birkinstocks and we go through the forest.Adrienne

    Hi Again Debs!
Having seen the clip you posted of your gorgeous man I can confirm he is definitely the child actor in the Michael Palin BBC comedy ‘Ripping Yarns – The Curse of the Claw’ He was a doll then (aged about ten?) and he clearly still has that same, unmistakeable, wonderful smile – you lucky girl you!!
I cannot find the clip featuring his performance on ‘You Tube’, so I heartily recommend you buy the ‘Ripping Yarns’ boxed set on dvd – you will love it, it is hilarious – and Nigel was such a sweet little boy, I’m sure the two of you can share a bottle of wine and a giggle over his starring role in one of the funniest TV comedy series of the ‘seventies!
    Lotsalove, Lisa. X

Susan – haha – made me smile about ‘normal’ – that’s been used more than once about him I can tell you which makes me giggle – particularly if you know how unique he is! But yes, it’s lovely to have a ‘normal’ hard working man for sure. My brother in law Davidge said about him – he’s once of those nice normal guys, you know, everything’s not got to be about them. Which you haven’t really had Deb have you!’ Lol.
He knew my ex-husband and ex-boyfriend really well obviously! hehe!
ANd yes oh god it’d be lovely to go on a Nile cruise with Nige – am sure when he’s in the mood for a flight somewhere he’ll let me know!

Hi Debs. Glad you had a lovely time at Center Parcs. We’ve been there loads of times too, with my disabled grown-up son, and as a break just for two! I could stay there forever!I was so glad to hear about your new man-it’s brilliant for you, and you seem so happy. I was on my own for 12 years, bringing up 2 children-not easy, but met my partner and still happy together. I think it happens when you least expect it-I wasn’t looking!honest! I love reading your blogs, you are about the only presenter who keeps us up to scratch with goings-on! Take care, love Jillx
