HAWAIIAN AFFAIR IS ON AMAZON – IN PAPERBACK!
What a proud moment it was this week when I opened up that first parcel containing my debut novel Hawaiian Affair in paperback! Three years in the making, countless iterations of it along the way and many, many, many hours of deciphering the uploading process! As regulars know, it’s been on Amazon – as an eBook – in instalments over the last four weeks, but this was a real ‘giving birth to my baby’ moment – one to savour. I couldn’t even wait to put makeup on for the pic! Lol.
Now, far more of you have been waiting for the paperback, as you’ve been telling me on Twitter and Facebook, – you just love to hold a book! Whether it’s for your summer holiday somewhere hot, or just sitting relaxing in the garden, the paperback is just the job for many of you. Let’s do a survey – what did you buy my book on? Kindle/kindle app/eBook? Or traditional paperback? And if you bought it on paperback for a holiday – have you already cheated and dipped into my novel?! Maybe you are going to buy it this weekend – well just for launch it’s at a slightly reduced price, temporarily.
But be warned – it’s steamy! (nb there is a tamer version up on amazon too. Anyone wanting the PG/ non-steamy version, read on below.) So what’s it all about? Well, if you click on this pic of the back cover, you’ll see the full low down!
One of the nicest things in this self-publishing process is, without a doubt, getting feedback – finding out what people think of my work. Like from amazon reviews from those who kindly leave them. In fact, every review but one (a 4 star) has been five stars, across all the instalments on offer, so I’m well-chuffed! 47 out of 48 five star reviews in fact, at time of writing this blog! Wow! Thanks, you guys! What will you think? Let me know! NB the price on paperback is only temporarily lower until next Friday – 28th so do order soon!
Go here for my paperback (only steamy version of paperback is available at the mo. but see below for update on how to get PG version on ebook instalments!). PG version of paperback will be available on amazon nearer Christmas.
For those who have asked about a signed copy, no, I haven’t got any signings planned at the moment, but thank you for asking! BUT if you buy the book and email me your info before Friday 28th, I guarantee to get the signed pic in the post to you by 30th June! OR anyone who can’t actually order online from amazon – you, or a pal – just tell them to email me and I’ll explain what is the solution I’ve come up with.
The email to write to is -
Give me time and I’ll sign the pics asap and thanks so much for being interested in my first novel!
EBOOK - Of course for those who prefer, the eBook is still very much available on amazon too – (in 4 instalments – with a choice between steamy and non-steamy versions! Lol). Created in response to requests from viewers. Please note that part 4 is currently only 77p – until Friday 24th – so do go download it soon!
nb for eBook part 4 (steamy), at time of writing, Amazon search has a glitch, so use this link to get part 4 steamy in eBook if you have problems (Go here)
So amongst all the excitement and late nights (!), I also managed to go along to a superb performance of musical theatre at Wimbledon Theatre this week with sis Linda.
I’ve got a real affinity with this lovely old place, having been to Meg Shanks’ Theatre School there in the 80’s! and Superpop ’76 – oops, giving my age away! Lol. Anyway, being a big fan of Phantom of the Opera, and Les Miserables, Lin and I loved the treatment these three fine performers gave some of the all time musical classics.
And guest appearances from amazing female voices too. Incredible harmonies from such high class singers – and not just straight forward singing either! Listen to a bit of this clip and you’ll see what I mean. This was a bit of a TiFFT* by the way – usually theatres forbid filming, but these three encourage it in their finale, as you’ll see from this excellent clip! They did some very funny skits too, so all in all a great night. Do go see it near you – click here for more info. http://www.three-phantoms.com/
This week’s feature is a book of the week – well, audio book! It takes me an hour to drive to work, so for me they’re a boon. I’ve got to give a quick mention to the novel I’m listening to avidly on my long car journeys at the moment – the full unabridged (14 cd’s!) version of Dan Brown’s new one (he wrote Da Vinci code). ‘Inferno’ is such an edge of the seat page turner, or (next-cd-listener) – I’ve even finished a journey and stayed sitting there just so I could listen to the next bit! Hehe! Gripping. BUT at the same time, it’s so peppered with unlikely chases and coincidental discoveries, I hate to think what the film will be like!
HOWEVER I do like history and it’s full of references to real art, artefacts and architecture – in Florence and Venice and the like – so for me it’s gripping! Well I’m a bit of a geek as you may know! Lol. Highly recommended, if you loved his first few books. I really loved the last one too – The Lost Symbol – anyone know if it too is being made into a film?

- Now the warmer nights are here, I’m determined to get out and start socialising more in the evenings – that night out with Lee Hohbein and Hannah (IT guests and pals) recently was such fun, maybe they’ll come with me again to one or two of these venues? How about one of these wonderful rooftop bars? Sounds fab to me.
One of my favourite memories of Italy in July last year with Craigy was an evening drink on a glamorous rooftop bar in Firenze. Go here for more info about some of Britain’s best.
WATCH - This week it’s the eagerly anticipated Star Trek follow up, ‘Into Darkness’ – with a young Jim Kirk and crew. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and co are back as Kirk and Spock and crew, with some excellent performances. Also notable are Karl Urban as the young ‘Bones’ – who’s uncannily how you’d imagine original Star Trek actor Deforest Kelly would have looked. And our own Benedict Cumberbatch as the baddie (he was GREAT!) and Simon Pegg as Scotty – quite scene-stealing in a comedic way, as he always does (eg Mission Impossible 3).
Many action type movies on offer at the mo but having really enjoyed the first movie starring this gang, I was looking forward to it. I’ll say this – it’s well acted, it’s well put together, the effects are fab. BUT one too many blooming chases and escapes which you just knew would end ‘in the nick of time!’ So whilst it gains for the overall plot, and impact, I had to deduct points for those failings.
Therefore it gets a solid 7.75 out of ten. Will I see it again? Only if someone else is watching it and I just join in. BUT if you are a trekkie, you’ll probably love it. And Benedict Cumberbatch consolidates his sci-fi position with another impressive outing. Elementary.
Next week – it’s got to be done – the new Superman, with heart throb Henry Cavill…
I went to a Today’s Special Value advance meeting this week – very interesting it was too! And even about this year’s xmas plans! Those are top secret of course! But I can tell you there are some amazing TSV’s coming – eg L’Occitane’s fab tote bag of mini’s on 6th July.
Then early July, around 9th, a new hair growth device appears, which has taken three years of clinical studies and legal clearance to bring to air, impressive eh? And we’ll be stating claims that it actually helps hair grow back, helping certain hair loss conditions.
- Best of all with a first for QVC – an incredible 26 week ‘buy it and try it’ period so you can test run it properly. Next week – come back for a sneaky of the July Bibi Bijoux bracelet!
Michelle Mone the Ultimo bra supremo and inventor was in this week launching her fab tanning range which was a sell out. Well, a little bird tells me there’ll be a wonderful superb value tanning pack TSV in July from the lovely lady – just in time for your hols!
QVC – THIS WEEK
