Hope you're all keeping warm and well. I don't know, just as we think spring is finally on it's way, the freezing weather and snow seems to return with a vengence!
Well I've got the perfect antidote to all this rubbish wintery weather – today is QVC's Duvet Day. It's our excuse for you to snuggle up warm and pamper yourself for the day.
Have you heard of duvet days before? I have friends in America who are entitled to three duvet days a year. They can take a day off at short notice and rest, reflect and have a little 'me time'. What I hadn't realised is that we now have a national Duvet Day right here in the UK, and there's even a whole website and charity dedicated to it!
I must admit that I rarely stop for very long as I'm a naturally busy person and I find it difficult to relax, but occasionally when things have got a bit too much or I'm feeling a bit frazzled, I take my own duvet day and plonk myself down with a good book or a couple of DVDs – it does me the world of good.
QVC's Duvet Day is a great reason to tune in. As well as some luxurious and comforting bedding, we'll also have a few beauty treats to pamper yourself with; it's a great event to stock up on all those essentials you're going to need for your own duvet day!
The highlight of the day is our TSV – a Daisy Jacquard six-piece duvet set from Northern Nights. I'm lucky enough to have been road-testing the set at home and I have only one word for it – WOW! Fellas, DO NOT be put off by the name – the jacquard weave looks far more vintage than it does flowery, so it's far from being too girly.
It has a lovely silky soft finish and I've been sleeping like a baby in it. The set has a duvet cover, a deep fitted sheet, two Oxford pillowcases and two housewife pillowcases – everything you need to dress your bed. It's made from 350 thread count Egyptian cotton and it really is the kind of bedding you'd expect to find at a luxury spa hotel – but you can get it right here at QVC!
I love the fact that the deep pocketed fitted sheet fits with ease over my mattress topper, featherbed and memory foam mattress – yes, I have all three! The set comes in a choice of White, Dusky Rose, Mellow Yellow or Subtle Silver. I know you're not going to believe this, but instead of going for my usual choice of white, I opted for the set in Subtle Silver (as you can see in the pic above left). It looks magnificent against my red wall and catches the light beautifully on these crisp winter mornings.
I'm going to be launching the TSV with Susie Adams at midnight, so do try and join us – I can promise you're not going to be disappointed!
So, what else is there to look out for on Duvet Day? Well one of my favourite items, the Slanket, will be on air. If you're new to this incredibly brilliant and simple innovation, then do keep an eye out for it. I love it because you can take it anywhere and it's perfect for those afternoons or evenings on the sofa when you still wnat your arms free for using the remote control, doing some crafting or my favourite, eating a TV dinner!
There's also something that's coming back into stock just for Duvet Day – a great electric blanket; what could be better on a cold winter's night?!
And finally, if you want to snuggle up to watch telly in bed or maybe to chill out all day by playing games or listening to the radio, then we have some great home electronics lined up too.
Hope you can join us for some or all of the day, and I hope it gives you the perfect chance to relax and unwind.
