Our summer must-haves for July Beauty Day

July Beauty Day is just around the corner, when we’ll be bringing you our usual extravaganza of offers on your favourite beauty products, including a Today’s Special Value offer from Doll10 – a comprehensive make-up set with summer-ready colours, plus an Auto Delivery option for more seasonal drops later in the year.

And in the spirit of tailoring our beauty buys to the seasons, we coerced some of our workmates on the digital team into telling us their beauty must-haves for summer.

Read on for products that’ll help you keep cool when travelling, tips on keeping the basics in top condition, a deep dislike of soap, and what we feel may be a slight obsession with bronzer…

Ayesha – Digital Homestyle Writer

Percy & Reed Dry Shampoo

This is a must-have for me pretty much all year round, but definitely more in the summer. I prefer not to wash my hair every day as it gets pretty oily, so this dry shampoo is perfect for freshening up my hair every other day. Plus it smells great!

Decleor Hydra Floral 24hr Moisturiser in Light

I love this moisturiser as it’s really lightweight and yet feels very luxurious (there is a Rich version but I prefer the Light). I use this every day in the mornings, and even when it’s very hot, it absorbs really quickly without leaving my skin feeling sticky.

Radical Skincare Skin Perfecting Screen SPF30

I’ve always tried to use sunscreen every day but I don’t like the tacky feel of most. This is a great one to smooth on after my moisturiser. It’s light and sinks in super quickly so I barely know it’s there.

Elemis S.O.S. Emergency Cream

I keep a handy travel size supply of this in my handbag and have a full size one at home. It’s a great multi-purpose moisturiser that works especially well on irritated skin. I’ve been known to smooth it over insect bites when in the park with my kids, and also on skin that feels chafed and irritated after having been in the sun.

OPI Big Apple Red Nail Lacquer

I live in boots and Converse most of the year and don’t really bother with nail polish on my feet, so in the summer, when I’m wearing sandals, I try and give my nails a pop of bright colour – my go-to shade is usually a bright red, and I love most of OPI’s red nail shades.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

This has been amazing at keeping my skin refreshed in the muggy atmosphere of the tube during my commute. I love the herbal smell and the instant cooling effect, and my skin always feels lovely and soft after a few spritzes. It’s also great to use before re-applying make-up to avoid that feeling of caked-on foundation.

Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder

I’m quite pale so I use this lightly, but it’s great for making me look a little bit more bronzed. As there’s little to no shimmer in it, it’s handy to use for contouring also. I’ve had this for so long and barely made a dent in it; definitely good value for money!

tarte BB Perfecting Liquid Foundation

I can only use foundations without parabens, so this product is ideal for me. It doesn’t irritate my skin, it’s oil-free and it stays put when combined with this next product…

Eve Pearl Invisible Finish Powderless Powder

This product is really unique. It applies like a cream foundation but it’s really a powder that keeps everything in place without a chalky finish – perfect for my dry skin and ideal in the heat.

L’Occitane Verbena Cooling Hand Cream Gel

Another commute saviour. After I’ve purloined a seat on the tube, I like to follow up a good dose of antibacterial gel with this hand cream. The citrus scent gives me a boost and it’s moisturising without being sticky.

For me, a good summer beauty routine is all about getting the basics right – skin, hair, nails.

Merumaya’s Melting Cleansing Balm

Merumaya’s Melting Cleansing Balm is magic. It dissolves away the day’s make-up, smells beautiful and leaves my complexion glowing. I love it.

Percy & Reed’s No Oil Oil for Thick Hair

As I am burdened (or blessed depending on your outlook) with very thick hair that’s prone to becoming particularly dry and frizzy in summer, an effective serum is essential. A few drops of this No Oil Oil after washing keeps my mane under control and looking glossy.

Nails Inc NailKale Superfood Base Coat

Kale isn’t my cup of tea, but you don’t have to eat this stuff to reap the benefits! The formula comes out clear so I usually just keep it simple in summer and wear it alone – unless I’m on holiday, then it’s all about brightly coloured polish too!

Bryony – Editorial Manager

tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick

I’m slightly obsessed with keeping my lips hydrated, especially in the summer, so at any one time I have at least three lip balms/salves in my handbag. However I’ve stumbled upon a new favourite with this tarte lipstick as it’s got all the hydration of a balm with the colour of a lipstick. Perfect for the summer, plus the packaging is really pretty, which is an added bonus.

Benefit Rollerlash Mascara

This is another new find of mine which I’m loving this summer. I don’t have very long lashes (my boyfriend has longer lashes than me!) so I’m always on the look-out for a good lengthening mascara and this one does the trick. It’s got a curved brush which is really easy to use and I’ve had lots of comments on how much longer my lashes look!

Molton Brown Rhubarb & Rose Hand Wash

I have a thing about bars of soap – I hate everything about them from how they dry your skin out, to their slimy texture as they slide into the sink. So I’m a liquid hand wash girl and this Molton Brown one is great! It’s Rhubarb & Rose, which is a gorgeous fresh and fruity scent, and it’s got that luxurious hydrating formula that Molton Brown are famed for.

OPI Nail Envy Nail Strengthener

Having just started playing netball on the QVC team ‘The Hotpicks’, I’ve noticed my nails can get a real battering! So I make sure I always have a coat of Nail Envy on my nails to keep them strong and protected. Plus, it gives them a nice sheen so they don’t look dull!

Josie Maran Argan Self-Tanning Body Wash

This the most revolutionary product I have come across in years – I really can’t speak highly enough of it! It’s a self-tan that goes on in the shower, takes to your skin in less than a minute and then washes off, leaving your skin a few shades more bronzed. It has a natural-look finish that really seems to take to your own colouring, plus it saves me so much time!

1623499_10153937002980717_418442523_ntarte Colored Clay Bronzer Blush

I’m really all about the bronzed glow come summer, and this blusher has elements of both bronzer and highlighter in it, which also means I don’t have to overload my skin with powders.

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue

bareMinerals describe this foundation as ‘freckle-friendly’, and that’s why I love it for summer – it has a dewy lightweight finish that covers imperfections while keeping my look natural and showing my freckles!

Eyeko Black Magic Mascara

A real must for summer, this mascara gives a high-impact look and, most importantly, stays on even after dips in the pool.

tarte Maracuja Oil

This oil is so good for skin that’s been in the sun! I recently took it away with me and it didn’t leave my side – I used it on the plane, as an intensive moisturiser, and even before putting on my make-up for a dewy glow. It also really helps foundation blend into the skin for a more natural and fresh finish.

Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Intesive Hand Cream

This hand cream has a gorgeous citrus scent that’s the perfect summery mix of sweet and fresh.

Nails Inc Express Nail Polish Remover

So useful for taking on holiday – no further explanation needed! I also keep one in my desk drawer at work for any emergencies.

Rachel – Producer

During the summer I tend to use less cosmetics, but more beauty products overall as I like to protect my skin and hair.

Elemis Jasmine & Rose Hand Cream

This Elemis hand cream has a gorgeous scent and helps keep my hands and nails moisturised. The ‘away’ size is perfect for keeping in my make-up bag.

Taya Intensive Repair Leave-in Mist

I use the Taya leave-in mist as I dye and straighten my hair every now and then, which makes it more prone to becoming dry and damaged. It gives it a little extra protection during the summer.

Benefit Benebalm

Benebalm is probably my favourite, as without lip and eye make-up I feel very neutral, so the fact that it gives a gorgeous red sheen and helps moisturise my lips makes it my must-have.

Benefit Tinted Cheek & Lip Stain in Benetint

I love Benetint too, as this can be used as both a lip and cheek stain and comes in a small but long-lasting bottle, making it very hand luggage-friendly.

tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara

My tarte mascara was chosen as it helps my lashes stay healthy and hydrated. I have long lashes naturally and find it dries pretty quickly without clumping or leaving mascara prints on my upper eyelid.

Molton Brown Body Wash

Molton Brown body washes and lotions are the perfect way to start the day, or wind down after a long one. I love their fragrances and find they leave my skin feeling refreshed.            Rachproducts
