Our holiday in a Winter Wonderland

Jilly and the kids Hello, well you'll be glad to know that I survived the move! Unfortunately I think I'll still be unpacking boxes come 2011 but I'm definitely getting there.

Thanks for all your  advice which really helped, we had a few problems which were beyond our control like the electrician drilling through a water pipe and all of us running around like mad things trying to find the stopcock to turn off the water which was creating a lovely water wall feature from the bedroom through the ceiling cascading down into the kitchen!Jilly's daughter

Two days later a taxi picked us up at 4.15am to take us to Gatwick as we were off to Lapland. Bad timing I know but I booked the trip over a year ago and couldn't disappoint the children. I wouldn't really recommend going on holiday two days after you move house. I couldn't even find the stuff I needed to pack but anyway off we went and it was magical.

The children make snowballs We went to Lapland the first time for my daughter's third birthday but, bless her, she really couldn't remember it. This time she was six and that is such a perfect age for the trip, it was wonderful.

This time we went to Rovaniemi and temperatures reached minus 27C! I'll never complain about our weather again. Thank goodness for the thermal suits that they provide! They are so warm and cosy and we had such a fantastic time with husky rides, reindeers rides, snow mobiles and, of course, finding the great man himself.

I hope to go back one day maybe with my grandchildren, that would be a dream come true.

Jilly xxxx

    Hi Jilly,
We too went to Lapland this year with my grand children Bethany aged 9 and Max aged 5. I must admit it was the best time we had had at christmas for many years. The children really enjoyed the time there, and so excited to see the real “father christmas” and being pulled by Huskies very magical. I am glad that you and your family enjoyed it too. Good luck to you all in your new home and hope you will be very happy there.
