Open All Hours – are you Being Served?

I’ve fallen in love – with my new home town of Sheepwash! So much so that I offered to go help out in the village store this week. It’s all about integrating and playing a part in the local community. Well you’ll never guess what I found when I went to help  Jan and Caroline in the Sheepwash Community Village store!

Wow that was dear! Anyway shortly afterwards I took this pic outside, over the top of the pub – what a beautiful shot. And yes I did finally buy that courgette!

Fun at the Beach near Bude – the dogs’ first taste of the seaside!

Goodness we had a lovely time this week with the girls on the retreat – some had Bodyblades and we did a quick wobble!

bodyblade on the beach

We went to Widmouth beach near Bude for Daisy and Gracie’s first experience of the seaside! Go here to my new website blog to see their first moments. And here’s a summary of what happened –

Also on my latest newsletter is a proper ‘oops’ moment – what happened when I got caught out on the beach by a very, very long wave! Go here.

More coming soon on my website – sign up when the box pops up to see all the latest news on my newsletter, before anyone else gets it during the week, when I do my updates for new early bird order links etc! Just go here – www.debbieflint.co.uk More Valentine’s stories there too!

Bruce also did a quick phone in to Skype the girls to say hi, since they were all bodybladers and we did a ‘wobble’ every morning too. Well done to Sara, Maxine and Tina! More about Retreats for You here.

SNIPPETS

Another year another bloopers show appearance! Well this time it’s the turn of Channel 5 and their ‘When Live TV Goes Wrong’ show, which was on last Sunday night and is now on catch up – here. It showed the two blinders – the tower of bottles whoopsie, and the No!no! cream blunder. Would have been interviewed on it but the powers that be said no – I didn’t mind though, I’m really quite a shy, Mary Ellen! Lol

Bouquet Arrived! Now I know it’s Valentine’s Day on Tuesday and yes I have a blind date (say no more!) And some people have been asking me why I have a certain ‘glow’ about me (see new profile pic at the bottom of this blog and see what you think!) But I’m staying mum…

Vinyl Revival  There’s definitely a vinyl revival going on at the moment, and here’s my contribution. After last weekend’s lovely fundraiser for the Good Grief Trust, Linda Magistris lent me her nostalgic record player! And her post war and swing LPs. I kept back my fave LPs which encapsulated my youth – mainly Kate Bush ones! Not for everyone but the epitome of my musical tastes in my late teens and beyond.

And here’s one of my fave Kate Bush songs from way back when – it never loses its lustre for me.

Anyway It’s been so special this week at the retreat to play these post war songs in the evenings – and they’ll be playing during the charity vintage teas on Saturday week when the Medical Detection Dogs will be in attendance too.

Bear Bones Awwww! Looks like there will also be two fab visitors to our Devon guest house, Retreats for You, next weekend (18/19th Feb.) On the Sunday around midday, QVC’s Charlie Bears guests, Will and Charlie Morris will attend! As far as I know they’re donating a big cheque on Sunday, that’s come from being able to sell out little Bones the collectable limited edition mo-bear! More info about coming down for a cuppa and cake, are here.

Fun with QVC pals at Gabi’s panto! What a funny time it was watching Gabi Bradshaw our regular garden guest having a ball as the wicked Ebenazar in Aladdin in Honor Oak Park last Sunday. I had a super lunch with my lovely mate Craigy too – always nice to catch up with good friends!

Facebook Funny – lololol it’s a funny dog video – if you love yoga go see it here (and don’t forget to press ‘like’ on the page to see the updates as they happen!)

Watch Altho everyone’s on about ‘Apple Tree Yard’, which I’m enjoying (some fabulous acting and important topics raised, plus it’s got Ben Chaplin in it!) I’m recommending the Tom Hardy vehicle ‘Taboo’ this week – he’s produced and co-written this tale of an early 1800s explorer who returns to the UK to find his father dead, and some strange goings on in his place. Tom is an incredible actor and I always try to catch all of his programmes.

This week on QVC

Makeup Junkies’ talented makeup artist Rachel Avent used our Becca offer on my face for this super picture which is near my profile shot on social media city face 🙂

PS another super post on our online support system for Till the Fat Lady Slims (go here for more) – come join us! Eileen is the fab admin who regularly posts uplifting supportive comments to everyone on there – I love this one – well done Eileen.

“Kindness. Radio 4’s thought for today was on the transformational nature of kindness. James Joyce was quoted as saying that there are three things in life you need:
1 kindness
2 kindness
3 kindness
If you feel you are struggling today or were yesterday with freedom eating be kind to yourself. Banish all thoughts of losing diet control, of eating diet defined bad foods, ban any stepping onto scales and delete those negative thoughts of shame, disgust or hatred. Take 10 minutes to think use the time to recognise how you were feeling, if you can, put a name to the feeling. And in a spirit of kindness to yourself ask the mood, thirst, habit or hunger question. By identifying the why’s, where’s and when’s and looking at your behaviour honestly without judgement you place yourself in the best position not only to plan for similar events but to better face the next challenge to freedom eating.”

She’s so right!

Hi Debbie, Love the countryside and hate towns, we only live about thirty miles from London but can’t remember the last time we went to the city. We live in a village (same place Kathy Tayler ) been here for over forty years, but where I was born and bought up is what I think of as a real village! ! High in the Chilterns, one shop, one pub not too many houses and lots of fields and lots of cows!! Still miss it now, but still visit often as a lot of my family still live there.Such a great and carefree childhood. Didn’t have the sea nearby, just a big pond.!! I also liked Apple Tree Yard and also Unforgotten, unmissable TV. Hope you received the chocolate cake recipe I sent. Best wishes Yve.
