Look at this picture when I was 12. Can you guess which one was me? See below for a closer look…

More below from the week ahead. First, all my news including some funny doggy pictures and an update on my hand operation…
This week I had the dressing changed after my operation last week. It is healing up nicely although the wound currently looks like something from a horror film, with the stitches still hanging out! If you are not squeamish pop across to my website blog to see the wound photograph I have my Decleor Prolagene Gel standing by.
Having my arm in a sling for a week gave me a bit of grief, though – backache and aching elbow! But at least I was not using the hand. I have to keep it dry for another week before the stitches come out, then I am coming back to work on the 23rd.
Meanwhile I have been discovering invaluable devices, for instance this one in my drawer in the kitchen has had a lot of use – the Kuhn Rikon jar opener! Could not have opened my manuka honey without this! See the full range here.
Talking of what has been happening after the operation, I have been walking the dogs using a lead splitter, which is very ‘handy’ – literally, ha ha. We have had some super pet products over the last year, here is a link to some of them; do you buy your pet presents or do you dress them up? If you have any funny ones do let me know!
And don’t forget to check out my Facebook page (link below) for more of my regular vlogs – I usually do them when I am out walking the dogs in the beautiful Devon countryside. Many people are getting used to watching them every day and I know lots of people who are stuck in doors enjoy hearing the bird song or seeing the latest happenings down the lanes and catching up on my daily gossip.
A Festive Supper in Devon
Since it was another week off, with no guests to make dinner for, I took advantage of an invitation to go to my neighbour Linda’s for supper. She has got a cosy open fire and already had some Christmas lights up, plus there were presents all over the place already wrapped up! And many were from QVC! Have you done any of yours? Her house is as ancient as mine is, low ceilings and beams and lots of nooks and crannies. Dinner was delicious, and a really nice opportunity to get to know a couple of the local ladies. We were talking about making it a regular thing, some kind of supper club, and I thought if I ran it, I could call it ‘Debbie does dinner’, what do you think?…?! 😉
Lauren just had more of her official wedding photographs arrive this week. This is one of my favourites. My two lovely children and me. Very proud #MarriedTheirFatherForHisDNA
Old School Pic – which one am I?
I am loving having conversations with old school friends on Facebook at the moment, from Morden Farm Middle School where I attended between 1971 and 1975. When I was about 12, we went on a super school trip to a place in France called Dravail. This week a photo was posted by my mate Denise, nee Barnhurst, which brought memories flooding back. Here is the picture. Can you guess which one I am? And if you know any of the other people in the photograph please say! We are still trying to get in touch with some of them. Do you remember Friends Reunited? That was the first real big social media thing wasn’t it, several years ago. Have you got a story about meeting someone on line you had not seen for ages?
Murder on the Orient Express
Finally got to go and see Murder on the Orient Express with Devon pal Wendy this week, the brand-new one. Loved the various actors and actresses who were absolutely brilliant, including Josh Gad, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Olivia Colman. However it was a bit of a self indulgent time for Kenneth Branagh, in my opinion. Lost marks for that. And obviously I knew what happened at the end. But as it is something I will definitely see again because I love the period detail and the drama of it all, I am giving it 8/10
P.S. As mentioned last week, went to see the Bolshoi doing Taming of the Shrew. It was absolutely brilliant; Sheena and I really enjoyed it. Next week, another film to repay my lovely mate for ferrying me around – e.g. to my lovely Charity Medical Detection Dogs ‘do’, at a special drinks evening at Leeds Castle on Thursday.
Derek has got a partner!
Talking of which, as you may know, I sponsor a lovely little dog called Derek, who I named after my dad. He is a medical detection dog and has been in training for two years. Well the big news is that he has finally been teamed up with a ‘partner’, as they call them, a chap called Kevin who lives up north. Derek will now alert Kevin every time he has a problem with his blood sugar as a fully fledged diabetes alert dog. I am very proud to have been part of Derek’s journey and I’m doing a special blog about him on the charity page on my website.
Brain Free Zone
Talking of the dogs, my brain has been so switched off whilst on holiday this week that one afternoon, I got back from doing a little bit of shopping with a friend, and went into the house once she dropped me off, and realised how quiet it was. Wandered round, could not find the dogs anywhere and got a bit panicky. Where on earth could they be? Then I remembered, and felt very foolish. I had dropped them off at the groomers earlier on in the afternoon! What an idiot. Have you ever had one of these moments? I’m afraid I am having more of them! Must focus more ha, ha.
No driving to the beach this week for obvious reasons, but enjoyed having lots of lovely relaxing time in the house this week with the dogs. Gracie and Daisy enjoyed it too. Gracie in particular availed herself of the opportunity to be tickled, whilst Daisy was watching television – just look at this sight at my feet every night. 🙂 I do like my doggies and I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel so we can go on some more coastal excursions.
Book of the Week
Covent Garden in the Snow by Jules Wake
I am so proud of my mate Jules, a fellow student from the superb Julie Cohen workshops. Her latest book is at number four on the Kindle chart! The main Kindle chart! That is huge! Just a couple of places behind Lee Child’s new one from Jack Reacher, which I am devouring on audiobook at present. If you fancy a wonderful warming winter read with a festive theme, do check it out! More on my website.
Special offer, zero postage, never been a better time to get it if you’ve always wanted this superb fitness device! Give someone the gift of a strong core and arms and tum this Christmas! Bruce is back in January…
Another one from my old telly hubby @TonyBlackburn:

Watch out for an amazing tablet deal with a customisable case in the next couple of weeks.
This week on QVC
See above for information about the weekend’s deals, and early bird order links.
Ring Video Doorbell – ding dong!
Returning on Sunday, the amazing Ring doorbell. I have to admit this is one of the best products I have ever bought. I would have missed my Elemis Today Special Value deliveries from Robert here this morning, if it was not for my ring doorbell, I think it is back in stock now! On air on Sunday on QVC.
It takes a live video of me answering the door from miles away, as in the pics here… My neighbour was out the back with the dogs, looking after the place for me, and didn’t hear it either! As a result of having this doorbell, my parcels are safely across the road in the shop. And I can pick them up later.
Today’s Special Value deals for next week:
Monday – Look out for the new warm cosy outfit from Cuddl Duds…
Whilst, Tuesday has a superb high quality six piece bedding set from Kelly Hoppen- the Luna.
Wednesday, it’s the turn of L’Occitane with their massive Christmas set including fragrance and body products, the Terre de Lumiere collection.
And on Thursday it’s our annual outing from Prices’ candles – The six-piece Fragrance Jar and 60-Tealights set.
I am launching a fab deal on Thursday night at midnight, with the LAB Life + Beauty girls – their new TSV for Friday. It’s a clever device – their Complete Anti-Ageing System with a focus on eyes and lips.
And also watch out at the end of the week for the new Bose Wave Music System IV early bird order link. Expect a massive weekend of shopping here on QVC, because it is Black Friday weekend November 24th – 27th, but you can shop early here.
Next week on my blog
Funny goings-on in the local area! A superb Elemis competition, and doing a Thelma and Louise, a road trip with my lovely Devon buddy Sheena.
Have a great week
