Hi Julie, just thought I would blog you to say that I have today been connected to Broadband for the first time with my Hewlett Packard Touchsmart computer which I had from QVC for Christmas and it’s fabulous. I am QVC crazy and have been a customer since day one. I remember you and JB the very first minute and think that you have done a remarkable job throughout the years. I too am cat mad hence my e mail address. I have a 19 year old called Billy he’s massive, black and white and absolutely adorable. This feels very strange as due to illness do not have a lot of contact with the outside world. I have spoken to you on the phone when you had John Miller in the studio many moons ago. He is a friend of mine do you remember that day??? I have had my hall decorated today but that was started over a year ago. I thought it would never be completed and it was getting on my nerves. So had a houseful today two engineers for Broadband and the painter talk about driving me nuts.I certainly won’t be having anymore walls painted for a while!!!! Anyway take care and keep up the good work and keep the wonderful products coming, don’t know where I would be without you all. Best wishes Janet

  2. Ann February 11, 2009 at 4:29 pm -

    Hi Julia,
Like you we are decorating….the bathroom in a simialr colour to you. I must confess having done nowt for the past few days. My excuse is the weather and having hubby home. Wiltshire was very white with 4-5 inches of snow on Tuesday…by Thursday/Friday we were considering building an igloo as they closed our road due to adverse weather conditions. I did lots of cake baking to make up for not being able to go out ( Is that an excuse??!!) Anyway weathers improving-roll on spring and summer TTFN ann

  3. julia roberts February 13, 2009 at 12:38 am -

Hi girls – can you believe it, just when I thought the snow had gone for the year another lot fell tonight! I almost didn’t make it home as it’s so hilly where I live and I don’t have a 4 wheel drive!
So, update on the decorating – we’ve done the kitchen, it’s still green but a bit more subtle than the bright pistachio, and the office is transformed from peach ( yuk whatever possessed me? ) to Natural Hessian a very nice neutral which I can highly recommend – and I didn’t actually DO the office, Daniel helped his Dad! I also bought the paint for the lounge – 3 walls ivory/cream and 1 wall RED!!!!!!! – I might attack that this weekend.
Ann have you tried Banana loaf, brilliant for using up overripe bananas, and also luscious lemon cake – yum.
Janet I hope you’re still enjoying your new computer – and a big kiss for Billy from Poppy!
    Julia xx

  4. Nigel Digby February 13, 2009 at 9:22 pm -

Dear Julia, I always enjoy your presenting. Both my wife and I shop on QVC, so we see you often. Looking at your Biography, I had no idea that you sang with Cheryl Baker all those years ago. I looked up the video on YouTube (yes it is there). All I can say is that you have become even more attractive over time! Best Wishes, Nigel xx

  5. Julie Thomas February 15, 2009 at 6:35 pm -

    Hi Julia
We are also decorating. I would like to use the “Liz Earle colour collection” What colour did you use? I was also thinking of using Natural Hessian on my hall, landing and stairs, I was wondering what the colour was like as I don’t want anything too dark-would you recommend this?
Thanks from another Liz Earle fan

  6. Sandra Gray February 16, 2009 at 3:49 pm -

    Hi Julia
    Happy Valentines Day!
As you were mentioning Arsenal Just thought I drop you line to say I had my Wedding reception at the old Arsenal Stadium (Highbury)….

  7. Diana Francis February 17, 2009 at 8:15 am -

    Hi Julia
We have just “moved” back into our bedroom following a re-fit and redecoration, but is this a record, it has taken 22 months!!!! Our cat (part Bengal) seems to be totally traumatised by it all and sulks at the bottom of the bed and doesn’t creep up during the night for cuddles with my husband!
Just wanted to say that I watched you last night and I thought you looked fabulous in your red dress, it really suited you.
    Take care, Diana

  8. julia roberts February 20, 2009 at 4:34 am -

Hi all – nice to get such lovely comments!! Thanks for the compliment Nigel – did you like the green outfit I was wearing??? I made them!! Cheryl and I still keep in touch with Christmas cards and the occassional phonecall. So you’re decorating too Julie – I used a blue called Mineral Mist which is almost the exact colour of the Liz Earle handwash. I would say Natural Hessian is lighter than Liz’s mens packaging – it’s a lovely shade, I also have it on one wall of our bedroom. Hi Sandra – I wonder what the non footie fans thought of the location?? Diana thanks for the compliment – I LOVE that dress, it’s a Tiana B they have some great designs, one of my favourite ranges – hope your cat is settling in to the new bedroom now??

  9. Kim Gandy February 22, 2009 at 11:14 pm -

Julia, can you tell me if QVC is planning a special “English Rose Day” for St George’s Day on 23rd April? I feel St Patrick’s Day is always made a fuss of on TV but not good old St George, although there are a lot more events now than there used to be. What do you think? QVC is more than capable of presenting a whole day of “the best of English”, so let’s talk ourselves up as a nation. I can’t think of any better way of showcasing English retail talent than a glamour-packed QVC special day – with your good self kicking it off at midnight! x x

  10. Ann February 26, 2009 at 4:06 pm -

    Hi Julia,
Thanks for recommending the banana loaf, will try that out! I have a craving (not sure thats the right word!) for bread and butter pudding at the moment. We stayed in for valentines day…although hubby did buy me a huge bunch of red roses (big softie) which was lovely.
Mineral Mist is a good colour, my stepsons room is that-still got the gloss paint to do…the house we moved into had bright salmon pink walls in the hall way…hmmmm.
PS Honey and Almond cake-really really yum!

  11. julia roberts March 5, 2009 at 12:36 am -

Hi Kim sorry I haven’t replied sooner I just got back from Spain – I didn’t have internet access there!! I think we should celebrate St George’s Day and I LOVE your idea – I will suggest it, although it may be a little late to do it for this year.Ann, I’m liking the sound of honey and almond cake – is there a specific recipe you use??

  12. Simone Rapple March 12, 2009 at 1:52 am -

Julia, not really a comment but I was wondering about the silver rose ring you have been wearing over the past few days. Is it available on QVC?
Thanks so much! I would really appreciate any information
    Simone, in Dublin

  13. claire Stevens March 15, 2009 at 5:37 pm -

    hi julia
glad to hear all your decorating has finsished. Keep up the good work love qvc and the presenters do a fab job thanks claire from Berkhamstead xx

  14. linda March 16, 2009 at 11:07 pm -

    Hi Julia
Just to say I love the flowered top you were wearing during Monday evening decleor show. Is it available from QVC or maybe you have purchased elsewhere. You looked so pretty.
Await to hopefully hear from you, thankyou.

  15. julia roberts March 18, 2009 at 5:37 pm -

    Hi Linda
Thanks for the compliment – the top is a Butler and Wilson from last year, and you know what Simon’s like he hates to repeat anything, so you probably can’t get it anymore, but you could try ringing his shop on South Molton Street as the girls there are really helpful.
Simone I think I just answered your question about the silver rose ring – it sold out on Silver Day, but was so popular I’m sure it will be back …….. watch this space

  16. Cheryl March 19, 2009 at 4:47 pm -

    Hi Julia,
Just wanted to say that I love the purple/aubergine coloured blouse that you have been wearing recently, could you possible tell me where you brought it from?
Also, what skincare products do you mainly use, as your skin is amazing?
    Many thanks.

  17. julia roberts March 23, 2009 at 4:18 pm -

Hi Cheryl the blouse is from Per Una at Marks and Spencer – I love it too! Thanks for the compliments about my skin – quick summary on products:-
morning …… Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and Instant Boost Skin Tonic, followed by either Decleor Aromessence Iris and Hydra Floral OR Elemis Bliss Capsule and Pro Collagen Marine Cream. Gale Hayman Eye lift gel for the eyes and Gatineau Throat lift gel.
night …….. Julia a couple of years ago i got a letter saying i could be invited to the studios but nothing came of it I would love to come to a silver show as i buy everytime a silver show comes on – my pals reckon i could start my own silver show lol.. Question is how do you get to know about when these days are on I have heard you mention them and the people you have met i would love to come along and meet everyone as well as doing a bit of shopping if you can do that at these events.
    love Carol-anne x

  19. julia roberts March 31, 2009 at 2:11 pm -

Hi carol-anne you obviously love your silver and I hope you enjoyed the recent Silver Day. The best people to contact to get invited to our Customer Event Days are the Customer Event Department – if you write to them at our regular address at Marco Polo House I am sure they will respond. Please let me know if they don’t. Keep enjoying your jewellery

  20. Mrs Katrina Tailor April 3, 2009 at 10:51 pm -

    Hi Julia,
My daughter and I were fan of Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, but no longer are. Since the ingredient almond milk had been removed we do not feel the wonderful softeneing effects. Why oh why did Liz had to remove an ingredient from a award winning, best selling product? Maybe you could ask her next time you see her.
Love watching your shows on QVC. You are a wondeful presenter.
    Mrs Tailor

  21. Ms J Orton April 13, 2009 at 4:28 pm -

How brave you were to appear on YBF beauty without make-up.
Thank you for doing this and for letting us see the transformation. Sometimes it seems that you and the other “girls” don’t need any of the products you are selling.
I have one thing that I would like to bring up with someone and I value your integrity….this is that often the before and after shots, despite the affirmation that they are taken under the same conditions….most definitely do not look to me as though they have been.
Not just the face is transformed but also the hair colour and the entire decollete. The “befores” have a greenish caste.
My son is a photographer and he also was aghast at the claim that conditions were exactly the same.
ON the whole I am entirely happy with QVC, but many other people must get the same impression as me. There is no need for this…your before and after was more convincing.
    Thank you.

  22. julia roberts April 16, 2009 at 2:47 pm -

    Hello Katrina, sorry for the delay in getting back to you but I wanted to make sure I got my facts straight! I had no idea that the almond milk had been removed from Cleanse and Polish, and I can honestly say I hadn’t noticed any difference on my skin, SO, I did as you suggested and asked Liz Earle’s team. You’re right (as I was sure you would be) and here is the official reason behind the decision, and I am quoting;
“We can confirm that the almond milk has been removed from Cleanse and Polish in response to many requests from our customers who suffer from nut sensitivities and allergies. This change does not materially affect the performance or sensory properties of Cleanse and Polish. We have carefully tested it to ensure it meets our high quality standards and to ensure it’s still the same Cleanse and Polish we all know and love.”
Thanks for drawing this to my attention Katrina as I think it is important to be aware of any changes to formulations, and I’m sorry that you no longer enjoy this product from Liz’s range.
    Thanks for you lovely compliments
    Julia xx

  23. julia roberts April 16, 2009 at 2:55 pm -

Hello Ms Orton (sorry to be so formal you didn’t leave your forename) – firstly I’m not sure if it was brave or stupid to appear under studio lighting without my make-up, but I believe it’s important that you can see that we all need lots of ‘make-up’ help too! With regard to the before and after shots, I am looking into it for you and will post again when I have some definitive answers. All I can say on the subject is that ‘my’ shots were both taken in the same studio in the same sitting position and I was unaware of any difference in the lighting – which is not to say there wasn’t any BUT I will get an answer for you, and thanks for trusting me with your query.

  24. doreen le-blanc April 19, 2009 at 2:58 pm -

i love your style can you tell me please what eyeshadow do you use and what is your mascara that you use. I always think your eyes always look so lovley and fresh,my some times can look a little muddy when i am wearing eyeshadow and mascara.

  25. julia roberts April 21, 2009 at 12:33 am -

    Hello Doreen,
Thanks for the lovely compliments – I am definitely a darker eyes and lighter lips girl, rather than the other way round which just looks weird on me. I LOVE smashbox eyeshadows as they seem to deliver a really intense colour – I was using a purple of theirs until about 2 months ago when it finally ran out after about 2 years!!! I am still using a deep brown of theirs, but my purple is now YSL as is the mascara I use now (faux cils). I use Bare Escentuals ‘Joyous Jennifer’ on my eyelid and I also use their highlighter under my eyebrows. My tip is to apply either a primer or foundation and powder on the eye area before applying colour so the colour stays true and to apply the darkest shade of eyeshadow in AND just above the socket line so that the colour shows up better. Let me know if this helps

  26. Sharon April 21, 2009 at 11:41 am -

    Hi Julia
First of all I want to say how much I enjoy all the shows you present, you are always so bright and bubbly, you really do cheer me up ๐Ÿ™‚
I have a couple of questions, if I may be so bold. The first is, what is your favourite show(s) that you present?, and the second is a wee bit cheeky!!! it is simply this, where has Anne Dawson gone?? have not seen her for a while
    Thanks Julia (and keep happy!!)

  27. doreen le-blanc April 21, 2009 at 4:56 pm -

    hi Julia
many thanks for taking time out to reply to my questions i will give it a try and let you know, how i get on.

  28. Jean Ellison April 21, 2009 at 10:37 pm -

    Hi Julia!
I have thoroughly enjoyed you and Simon tonight with all his fab jewellery – and chat! However, I have a question for you regarding another favourite of mine, Philosophy! Please tell me that Lee will be coming back to co-present the Philosophy products? His replacement, Robyn (I think!) is very knowledgeable and great, BUT please bring Lee back!

  29. Sandy April 21, 2009 at 11:05 pm -

    Hi Julia
I wanted to know what kind of flip flops do you love to wear?

  30. gary April 24, 2009 at 9:56 am -

hi Julia. you looked fantastic on the tele last night. you dont need models showing the items, you will do just fine.have a good weekend

  31. Sandy April 26, 2009 at 11:10 am -

    Hi Julia
I know you like to wear thong sandals so I wanted to know which kind of flip flops do you like to wear?

  32. Annie Bishop April 28, 2009 at 8:53 am -

    Dear Julia,
You look fabulous all the time on QVC. My daughters love your shows. Always saying lovely comments about your hair, makeup, and clothes. They say you’re a glamourous presenter, unique in your style. We would like to know if possible, what oral care products you use. You have a wondeful smile.
    Kind regards

  33. julia roberts April 28, 2009 at 1:04 pm -

Hello Girls ( and Gary ) – I’ve only just found these comments as I didn’t realise they went on to another page – you know how hopeless I am with computers BUT I’m improving. SO lot’s of questions starting with Sharon. I really do enjoy most of the shows I present … I particularly like guested beauty shows e.g. Elemis, Decleor, Gatineau, in fact I enjoy most guested shows because I can learn so much from the experts …….. and of course I love Butler and Wilson! Ann has had a problem with her shoulder which required an operation, but we are hoping she will be back in June, thanks for asking. And thanks for your kind words, good to know I can brighten your day.
Keep me posted with the make-up Doreen.
Hi Jean, glad you enjoy the Butler and Wilson shows. With regard to Lee, I honestly don’t know what he has moved onto in his career, but I don’t think there are any plans at the moment for him to come back to QVC.
Sandy, sorry I didn’t answer you first time, as I explained I only just found you! The sandals I wear on air were from Aldo last year – they are very comfortable. I also love to wear ‘havaianas’ cos they are quite spongey on the footbed although I have had flip flops from ‘Next’ and they are quite good too. Which do you wear? – I’m always open to new ideas.
Hello Gary, thanks for your lovely compliment – I had a good weekend thanks, hope you did too?
And more lovely compliments from you Annie – thank you so much, it means a lot to me especially the bit about ‘unique in your style’ – say Hi to your girls from me. My oralcare routine is actually very basic – I have a Sonicare toothbrush which I absolutely wouldn’t give up, and I use Sensodyne gentle whitening toothpaste – that’s it! Although I did discuss with my dentist on the last visit the possibility of having my teeth whitened slightly – I don’t like the very white very fake look – do you?
Again thanks for all your lovely comments
    speak soon

  34. julia roberts April 28, 2009 at 6:22 pm -

Hello again Mrs Orton .. as promised I have made enquiries at the very highest level about our before and after shots and this is the reply I have been given :-
“The QVC process for taking and displaying before and after shots is as follows……
Before shots are normally taken well in advance of the live show sometimes the models before shot can be taken up to 5 hours before the live show. The reason for this is due to our programme schedules, studio space, model and crew availability and also sometimes the amount of models we are having to use on a given day.
We have to take the before shot in the same set and under the same lighting conditions as we will be doing the live show, these are ASA requirements and we follow this to the letter. We also do our best to ensure that the model is wearing exactly the same clothes and also has a similar expression on her face eg not smiling in the after and miserable in the before.
Technically we colour balance our cameras at the begining of each day so these checks are in place and at no point in the process are our staff allowed to retouch any before or after shot. We do our very best to ensure that we do not mislead the viewers in anyway.”
I hope I have been able to get your question satifactorily answered? Kind regards
    Julia x

  35. Sandy April 29, 2009 at 5:13 am -

    Hey Julia,
Thank you for your answer back, I really appreciate it! I own some Papillio thong sandals which feel comfy. I also love wearing havaianas, and I have these cute spa flipper slippers which are like flip flop slippers, and those feel great too!

  36. Joan Simpson May 14, 2009 at 10:10 pm -

    Hi Julia,
This is a plea for help. I know you are a fan of your silver popcorn watch, I also got one 18 months ago and when I wore it a few weeks ago a piece of one of the strands came off and I did’nt notice this till I took it off so I don’t have the missing piece.
The customer care team was’nt able to help me, I know it is out of guarantee, but I am willing to pay for it to be fixed. Do you know if this will be possible as I love my popcorn watch and don’t like to think that I will never be able to wear it again. An address or phone number or any other help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Joan

    Hi Julia,
Please may I ask where you got that lovely red/coral top you were wearing when you opened the Get Gorgeous event on Friday 15th May?
You looked lovely in it and I love also like to have one.

  38. Tracey May 18, 2009 at 2:29 pm -

I have noticed you wearing a great large silver flower ring a few times and was wondering if it is QVC item?

  40. cg glasgow May 21, 2009 at 7:58 pm -

    hello julia
i notice there are more plus models in fashion. would it not be possible for a permanent 3xl model – as much as the models are tall and very lovely – we plus girls especiallty 3xl know the fashion will not look the same on us as them
    what do you think?

  41. cg glasgow May 21, 2009 at 8:31 pm -

    hi julia
hope you dont think this is a daft request, but like you i am no longer a heel wearer. for years i have worn birkenstocks, but for some reason they are hurting the backs of my legs this year – i’ve waiting delivery on a pair of soft rockport toe posts to try. my question (at last) what make of mules and toe posts do you wear as they look so comfortable. i’ll give anything for comfortable feet

  42. julia roberts June 3, 2009 at 1:58 am -

Hello girls, sorry to be so long in replying but I keep forgetting to ask the silver jewellery girls about Joan’s watch – still haven’t done it Joan, it must be my age!! By the way, mine is the white gold version of the original yellow gold one which I’m not wearing at the moment cos it needs a new battery – keep forgetting to do that too!! I’ll try and remember to check it out for you Joan, seems a shame not to be able to wear it.
Hi Lorraine the top was from my local Dorothy Perkins – a bit of a find, I hope you manage to get one too.
Tracey the silver flower ring was my pick for Silver Day earlier in the year – it sold out at midnight just by me mentioning the item number – we have so much interest in it that it is coming back very soon as a ‘Special’ purchase if you know what I mean, so keep watching.
Hi Christine thanks for the compliments on the fashion presenting – I always think honesty is the best policy. I love the red Tiana B dress and I’m glad you like it on me. Just wondering if you caught the Ronni Nicole show last Friday?? That range goes upto 3xl and the cuts were really flattering, plus you have the slight bodyshaping lining, but not too tight. I hope you indulged? I agree that we should have more shows with the voluptuous girls modelling, in fact I raised that very point just a few days ago, so here’s hoping. The toepost sandals I wear a lot on air were from Aldo last year so you probably can’t get them anymore BUT I’ve just bought some ‘fit flops’ and they are fab. If you get some let me know what you think.

Hi Rosemary, I’m not sure which advert you mean, but if it’s the new Qcut one, which I haven’t seen yet, it was a grey and white blouse from per una at M&S.

Hi Julia i got married for the third time on a beach in Mexico. So relaxed,so beautiful would recommend it to anyone. Sorry to hear about your family losses recently, it really does bring back the saying live today as if it was your last because you never know when it is. Hope you enjoyed your scottish wedding. I really love your shows and always tune in when i know you are presenting

  48. Mo June 21, 2009 at 6:11 pm -

Hello. I’ve found all these questions and answers very interesting. I’ve been meaning to ask one of my own and it’s this: do the guests offer to the presenter something of the range that is being presented? For example, does Simon offer you and the model an item from what has been shown during that show or if it’s Models Prefer would you be offered the choice of a little pressie for yourself as a thank you for presenting?
I enjoy your shows because I think you are a very sincere enthusiastic presenter and I think people appreciate that.
    Best wishes, Mo.

  49. Suzanne Thurlow July 3, 2009 at 7:12 am -

Julia I think you are lovely, so much fun too watch
Thursday 2nd July I liked the dress you were wearing, is it one we can purchase through QVC
Simon, there is only 1, Butler & Wilson, what does Butler look like

  50. julia roberts July 6, 2009 at 1:37 am -

Hi Chris thanks for your kind thoughts and also the compliments. Mexico sounds amazing ….. I’ve always said if I ever get married it will be on a beach somewhere – maybe Barbados?!?
Hello Mo – again thanks for the compliments. We do sometimes get given samples of products to try before we present them on TV, but only so that we can talk about them having experienced them, not as pressies.
Hi Suzanne – more lovely compliments, you guys are spoiling me! I think the dress you are referring to is a Juliet Dunn – I bought it last summer and it is one of my favourites – unfortunately it’s not available on QVC.
There is a Nicky Butler, but I have never met him – I believe he lives in America.
    Speak soon girls

Hi Doreen glad you enjoyed the show with Ali Young – I wish we did more shows together as she is so knowledgeable about the products but also has a wicked sense of humour!! You are right in your assumption that the shadow/eyeliner I use is spotlight, a beautiful deep purple and you are also correct that it sold out, but you could check in a couple of days time, as sometimes people cancel orders before they are sent out.

    Hi Julia
Just a quick MSG to say you are definatley the best presenter on qvc. I am just wondering is the easy pays only available for existing customers, as I have not bought anything. I really want to buy my mother a new bed from northern lights. She has had a very bad year and deserves it! I simply cannot afford to pay for it all at once
Thanx for Reading this and keep up the good work

  56. Jessica Dunn August 4, 2009 at 5:00 pm -

Hi Julia, can I just say you are my favourite presenter on QVC and I did ring in on your recent desert island essentials to ask what hair products you use, as your hair always looks really healthy and shiny. Thanks Jess

  57. Steven August 8, 2009 at 6:30 pm -

Hi Julia wasn’t sure where to put this so thought I would try here. How did Palace do today? First game of the season I think today. Keep up the good work and keep looking gorgeous as ever

Hi Julia can u tell me what mascara and lipstick you usually use on qvc, and also the colours on your eyes you use. You are the prettiest presenter on qvc.We always look on the timetable on the qvc guide to see what shows you are going to host and make sure we watch all of them. U are great Julia . What perfume do you use? ANd please can you send me a signed autograph because we all think you are great from kam

I saw your show with Harold the other night, it was so funny you make a great team, I hope you are on with him when he comes back.

  60. julia roberts August 10, 2009 at 12:30 am -

Hello James, thanks for your lovely compliment. Regarding the easy payments, they are available to new customers too, as the payments are taken from a credit or debit card ( they are interest free as well which is a bonus! ). Easypay is not available on everything though, only when it says it on screen. I hope you manage to get your mum a feather bed sounds like she deserves it.
    Keep watching
    love Julia x

Hello Jess, thanks for your kind words and hope you enjoyed the desert island show – just wish we’d done it from a desert island!! I am a fan of the Ojon hair treatment which I try to use once a week. For shampoo I still use the Aveda ‘Colour Conserve’ shampoo and conditioner, but I have also been using ‘La Coupe’ (the ones in the orange bottles). To blow dry I like the Louise Galvin spray. Hope this helps

    Hi Julia
    I need some help please!
On a not so recent B & W show I saw and was too late to purchase, a “smiley” face brooch and bag. Could you ask Simon for me, if these are still available, and if so, the product code numbers.
    Thank you in advance
    Kind regards

  63. rosie August 14, 2009 at 4:24 pm -

hi julia – I know its an awfully personal question – but just to settle an argument between my friend and I – are you married?! I say you are because I’m sure when not presenting jewellery – you do wear a wedding band – however my friend says no,because you always refer to chris as your partner rather than hubby! Silly I know!!

  64. julia roberts August 17, 2009 at 4:51 pm -

    Hello Jenny,
Hope you enjoyed the Butler and Wilson 14th Anniversary shows last week? I asked Simon about the ‘smiley’ face bag and brooch for you. Unfortunately they are not able to make them anymore – sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
    Julia x

  65. julia roberts August 17, 2009 at 4:57 pm -

    Hello Rosie
Your friend is correct, Chris and I are not married although we have lived together for over 31 years – longer than most marriages these days. The band I wear is a Black Hills Gold Ring – I bought us both one when I visited the factory about 11 years ago. Incidentally I understand Black Hills Gold is returning to QVC in September – good news for those of you who have requested it over the years. As for calling him my partner, I would probably still do that even if we were married – he is my life partner through thick and thin.

    Hello Kam,
So many lovely compliments …… thankyou! In answer to your questions : I use YSL mascara at the moment, although I also like Smashbox and Pupa. Lippie is generally Gale Hayman 14 carat lip lift with a Fran Wilson lip gloss over. The purple I wear on my eyes is YSL, but I also use the Smashbox ‘spotlight’ shadow liner which I love. When I do browns I use Smashbox with Bare Escentuals ‘joyous Jennifer’ on the lid. Perfume I vary, in my handbag at the moment is Anna Sui ‘Sui Dreams’ but I also like a lot of the Dior fragrances. Please write with your address using snail mail and I’ll send you a signed photo

    Hi Karen
Thanks for the compliments re my hair …….. were you referring to the ‘au natural’ look I was sporting on the Dennis Basso show? Bit of a story there that I will share on this weeks blog! I always used to look out for Readings results cos of Steve Coppell – I may not be so interested now that he’s gone. See you at Selhurst later in the season and may the best team win

Hi Julia, I know what students are like, and this one wasn’t even mine… she was a friend’s daughter whose home is in Pakistan and she lived with me for 4 years… I eventually took a pic of her bedroom and sent it to her mum…that did the trick!
Re your blog…the difference is that the lamb soft toy is missing form the bag in the second pic.. hope he isn’t lost, he is really cute!
PS, favourite products are Liz Earle and I couldn’t live without my Birkies, I have 6 pairs!

  75. julia roberts September 6, 2009 at 2:25 pm -

    Hi Anne
Good for you – I bet her Mum wasn’t too pleased with her! We had Chris’s Australian nephew staying with us for 7 months earlier this year ( he originally came for 2 weeks! ) and although he wasn’t untidy I must admit it’s nice to have the house back to ourselves!
Lovely cute ‘Shaun’ isn’t lost – Sophie takes him almost everywhere with her – but he also had 2 friends missing from the 2nd picture.
Watch out for Liz Earle on Beauty day 19th September!

Hi Julia, this isn’t really a comment but didn’t know how else to get in touch. Was wondering if you could tell me if the cuff bangle I have seen you wearing quite a lot is from QVC. I love the look of it but have been unable to find it online. Thanks, Karen

  77. julia roberts September 14, 2009 at 12:24 pm -

    Hello Karen,
Yes the bangle was from QVC BUT unfortunately it has been ‘retired’. I have had lots of queries about it, so I guess I will have to restrict it to personal use from now on. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

  78. Jean September 15, 2009 at 11:16 pm -

    Hi Julia,
I wonder if you can help with a problem I have? I know you are great friends with Simon Wilson (you are always great together on his shows). I bought my sister-in-law a Butler & Wilson “Cat on a bike brooch” for her Xmas a couple of years ago. Unfortunately she lost it and was absolutely devastated. She was also so embarassed she couldn’t bear to tell me until ages afterwards. Both she and I have tried everywhere to replace it without success. We have even tried contacting Butler & Wilson direct with no luck. Would you be able to ask Simon if he knows where we could purchase another? It would be much appreciated. I love your shows. You always look fantastic!
    Many thanks,

  79. julia roberts September 20, 2009 at 1:03 pm -

    Hello Jean
Thanks for the lovely compliments. I will certainly ask Simon about the ‘cat on the bike brooch’ next time I speak to him ……… I don’t think I’ve ever seen that one? Have you tried eBay?
Our next show together is on QVC’s 16th Birthday at 11p.m. – hope you’ll be watching?
    much love

I have forwarded your request on to our fashion buyer for this range – not sure if they can help as things are usually ordered several months in advance, but I’m sure they will try!

  82. Jean September 22, 2009 at 6:23 pm -

    Hi Julia,
Many thanks for taking the trouble to reply regarding the Butler & Wilson “cat on the bike” brooch. It would be so much appreciated if you could ask Simon himself if he knows where we could get one. If the man himself doesn’t know we’ll have to give up and I’ll try to replace it with another from his range. It was just so apt for my sister-in-law as she loves cats and riding her bike! She was so annoyed at losing it and as I said couldn’t bear to tell me for ages afterwards. We have tried E-Bay, both the UK and American one and other places too with no luck. We tried B & W also but there’s really nothing like asking the person at the top, so to speak. If I posted a note directly to you with my home E-Mail address would you get it do you think? You could then reply to me direct.
Thank you so much for your help,

just watched the you tube footage and you were a stunner then and are still now. i wish i had your style at the age of 53 (me)! used to live in shropshire and was an avid qvc shopper. am now in irelsnd and have not plucked up the courage to order anything for delivery to tramore, co. waterford yet. Perhaps a TSV Bare Esscentuals in October!
However i will be watching the breast cancer day events in mid october and will definitely be ordering then.

  84. julia roberts September 28, 2009 at 10:35 am -

    Hello Susan
Thanks for the lovely compliments – it’s hard to believe that was nearly 30 years ago!! It sounds like you live in a gorgeous place – I haven’t visited Ireland since I was pregnant with Daniel, when I went over to film a TV commercial, so we are talking 23 years ago ……… long overdue for another visit!
I’m not presenting the Breast Cancer Care Show (it’s Ali Keenan and Dale) but am around just prior with the silver event so may just ‘pop’ in. Hope you pluck up the courage to order on the day
    much love

Have just watched the You-Tube clip. You were great and haven’t changed a bit, except your hair! I’m going to Sing-a-long-a Abba in the next couple of weeks, and am really looking forward to dressing up and being a “Dancing Queen” for the night!

  86. Carolyn Fenton-Malley September 29, 2009 at 9:01 am -

    Dear Julia
I have been facinated by a top I saw you wearing on a show that was screened about two weks ago and wonder if it is available from QVC? Indeed I still keep visualising seeing you wearing it I just can’t get it out of my mind.
It came over the screen as being purple/aubergine in colour. It had short sleeves and had a frill around the neck which appeared to have a slight v-neck shape and had a slight having a sheen to the fabric.
As you will have realised – I really would like one for myself and so I am wondering where I could get one from.
I always enjoy your shows whatever you are presenting and hope you are able to put my mind at rest.
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal message to you.
    Carolyn Fenton-Malley

    Hi Barb,
Glad you enjoyed the Youtube clip and thanks for the lovely comments – funny thing is, if I had my hair cut shorter and left it to dry naturally it would still do the same thing! Enjoy your night out at sing alonga abba – hope you’re going to be wearing shiny lycra trousers?!?

  88. julia roberts September 29, 2009 at 6:16 pm -

    Hello Carolyn
Thanks for your message – I know the top you are asking about. I bought it from the Per Una section of M&S about 9 months ago so not sure if they will still have it. It’s a favourite of mine, great shape and comfortable – should have got it in more than one colour!
Hope you manage to find one
    much love

    Hi Julia,
Just wondered if you got the chance to ask Simon about the Butler & Wilson “cat on the bike” brooch (post 15/9/09). I watched the birthday show the other evening and was tempted to phone/text in, but decided against. Beautiful items as usual. Hope to hear from you soon.
    Many thanks,

  90. Jane Barber October 4, 2009 at 9:58 pm -

Hi Julia this is the first time I have written to anyone on my new computer, I have texted you a few times on your shows I dont expect you remember but you asked once what our fav gem was and I texted my purple sapphire ring, and you said you had one also. congratulations on the birth of your great great nephew no way do you look like a great great aunt, I think Daniel is known as his cousin twice removed. My Grandson also named Daniel is 10 years old and I was only 38 when he was born people always think he is mine which is nice, you will probably get the same comment if you take baby Leo out as you look really young for your age . If you dont mind me asking is your purple ysl eyeshadow number4 as I have that one, yours looks great on you, I also have one by Sue Devit called jewel in the dust which is really nice, have you tried that one? hope to hear from you from you if you have time. love Jane x

  91. Petra May October 5, 2009 at 7:47 pm -

    Hi Julia
Congratulations on becoming a great great aunt. I know what you mean about checking in the mirror to see if you look the way the title feels, as I am a young feeling 51 year old who has identical twin grandchildren, Elli and Tamzan who are nearly 5 years old. As you say, thank goodness for the wonderful beauty products sold by QVC. Speaking of which, is it true that the Prescriptives brand is being withdrawn on 1st January next year? I rely on the super line preventor and the false eyelashes mascara and will be devastated if they disappear.
Love watching you on TV and reading all your blogs.

  92. julia roberts October 6, 2009 at 7:05 pm -

    Hi Jane
So glad you don’t think I look like a great great Aunt – phew the beauty products are working!Someone else also posted that they think Daniel is Leo’s cousin twice removed, so we’ll settle for that! I probably won’t get to see Leo that often as they live in Scotland, but I’m sure I will be kept updated with photos.
I do remember your text about the purple sapphire ring as you and I are in the minority owning one.
Don’t know which YSL shade I wear as it is in a compact, and thanks for the Sue Devitt suggestion, I’ll look out for it.
Hope you’re getting to grips with your new computer, if you need any help just ask LOL!!!!!

  93. julia roberts October 6, 2009 at 7:11 pm -

    Hi Petra
I wonder if they still run ‘glamorous granny’ competitions?? If so maybe you should enter? I’m quite looking forward to being a gran, but I think it will be a few years yet!
QVC are not stopping selling the Prescriptives brand, it is ceasing to exist so stock up while you can! I’m sure QVC will have something else that you will learn to love as much in time ……….. it is annoying though isn’t it!
    Thanks for your kind compliments
    keep watching and reading

  94. julia roberts October 6, 2009 at 7:17 pm -

    Hi Jean
I have spoken to the ‘man at the top’ and it’s bad news I’m afraid – that particular brooch won’t be repeated. I would suggest that you keep looking on eBay from time to time as you never know what may turn up in the future.
Hope you enjoyed the B&W shows

Well Hi Julia. I hope you are enjoying our ‘September’ weather. Thank goodness you weren’t here last month! Boy, did it rain!!! We live about 40 mins away from Javea – how about that – and my wardrobe is ‘chokka’ with QVC, amongst other rooms in the house. Hope you are having a nice relaxing time. Take care – Love Sarah

We had a fabulous time – could not believe the weather, it was gorgeous. We heard about the torrential rainstorms you had the week before we came out. Am home now – slight dip in temperature – about 7 degrees tonight brrrrrrrrrr!
Pleased to hear you enjoy shopping with us ……. are you Altea or Oliva direction??
Hope the weather stays nice for you for a while

    Hi Julia
I just wanted to say how great your hair look today and yesterday on tv, i have the same type of hair as yours, and i just wondered if you are using something different shampoo etc.,?
if you could let me into your secret!
    many thanks

  100. julia roberts October 19, 2009 at 2:17 pm -

    Hello Kathie
Thanks for the compliment re my hair!! It probably looked nice due to the cut which I had done by Richard Ward on Friday ………. it had definitely grown toooooo long. I washed it myself pre last nights shows with the Ojon Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner and blow dryed it with the Louise Galvin Serum which I REALLY LOVE!!!! I also use the La Coupe shine shampoo and conditioner ( in the orange bottles ) which leaves the hair feeling silky.
    Hope this helps
    Julia x

  101. Kathie Sutton October 28, 2009 at 7:09 pm -

    Hi Julia
I do use the Ojon shampoo etc., not tried the Louise Galvin serum or the La Coupe Shine shampoo so will give it a go.
What about in Spain? I do have a place in Spain like yourself and get ‘beach hair’ no matter what i have used any advice there please! or is just the above you use?
    Thanks ever so much
    You Star

  102. julia roberts November 1, 2009 at 2:13 pm -

    Hello Kathie
Do try the Louise Galvin it is fantastic for blowdrying with – it helps the brush go through the hair it’s so silky feeling.
When I’m in a hot country I never bother blowdrying my hair, I give it a ‘rest’! I like to use Olive Oil shampoo from Kiehls, which is very hydrating, followed by their Leave-in conditioner. Unfortunately we don’t sell it at QVC but I’m sure they have a website.
    Give it a try
    Julia xx

    Hello Diane
The bad news is you can’t get it through QVC but the good news is that I know what it is – it’s a YSL 5 colour compact. I also use a Smashbox purple shadow/liner called Spotlight. Hope you manage to get them

    Hi Julia
I received a letter from you inviting me and a guest to join you for an exclusive QVC reception for Simon Wilson’s 40th anniversary on 23rd November at 5pm…my sister and I booked flights from Glasgow and a hotel costing ยฃ340.00 I then phoned this morning to confirm my attendance and was greeted by an automated answering service advising me that due to an overwhelming response all the places had been filled
No where on the letter did it advise that it was a first come first served basis I thought my place was guaranteed…I wonder if there is anything you can do to help me I dont want to waste this money as I have no other reason to come to London and I am extremely disappointed at missing the event and meeting Simon
    Hope you can help

Hi, just looked at 4flavar on my space, the song (pose for the camera) I think thats what its called, it is brilliant, really catchy tune and a good professional performance as well, I think if they got a record deal it could go to top 5 in charts, I cant stop singing the chorus. regards carole.

    Hello Julia,
I was watching the Dennis Basso hour that yourself and he were presenting, and although his items were gorgeous as usual I could not take my eyes off your boots you were wearing. They look so stylish, comfy and warm I have had a total nightmare trying to find a pair of boots this year for winter, nothing seems to fit right or look right and I saw your boots and they look perfect. I was wondering if you could perhaps tell me what make they were as I think I have just found my winter boots.
    Lots of love

    hi julia,
just received a l’occitane order and had to leave you a note. i know that you loved their ylang ylang shower cream as much as i did and thought you may wish to know that they have brought out a 30ml size of handcream, its ace. i wish it was larger and available for longer (l’occitane say it is limited edition). it is available in a kit from qvc with a range of new flavours. i have to say i bought it direct from l’occitane because i wanted ylang ylang on its own and lots of them. if you get a chance can you beg alexis for more of them and a large size
    lots of love

    Hi Julia,
You are one of those people that everything looks good on!!In particular you wore a deep aubergine/blackberry top or dress a couple of days ago, I think it had a frill round a scooped round neckline. Is this the one you said in an earlier blog that you got from Mand S,Per Una? You have a great sense of humour too which is fantastic.Always enjoy your shows on QVC.Have a good Christmas..Maggie.X

So glad you liked the girls song – that track is one of my favourites too!! They have a gig coming up soon at the O2, so hopefully 2010 might be a big year for them. I’ll keep you posted. Sophie says ‘Hi’

    Hi Suzanne
Some good news and some bad news! The boots are Markon – I love them, as you say very comfy and a manageable heel height too! The bad news? – over 2 years old, and we don’t do them anymore. I’m as disappointed as you, as I would definitely have ordered another pair!
Some of the Clarks boots are really nice this year though – I just bought some in a deep tan colour – they are a lower heel than the Markon boots but still stylish – I will wear them ‘on air’ when I next have a coat show.
I’ve also just ‘discovered’ Emus – now they are REALLY comfy.
Good luck with your boot search

    Hi Linda
Yet another purchase from my local Dorothy Perkins. I love it – it’s my Christmas sparkle this year! If they don’t have one in Croydon, they still have some in Caterham (not too far for you) as I was in there having a look round today.
    Hope you get one

    Hello Jennifer
Yes I do love the Ylang Ylang and was very disappointed when they stopped doing the soap. I was on with the handcream on Beauty Day – it doesn’t smell quite the same, but still gorgeous!! I already asked Alexis about a larger size but she couldn’t guarantee anything – fingers crossed!!

    Hi Maggie
What a lovely post and full of such kind things!. Yes it is the top I bought from Per Una – just wish I’d bought it in another colour too!
Keep watching and I hope you have a lovely Christmas too

    Hello Julia,
Thankyou for your advice on boots. Such a shame Markon have stopped making the boots you were wearing however I have had some better luck in finding some great boots. They are not from QVC I wish they were, instead they are from Hotter you may have seen them advertised on the TV, OK I know these boots might not be as affordable as others I have seen but I have always believed that you cannot put a price on comfortable, stylish and hardwearing footwear. I have bought three pairs, a pair in Black as its what I call ‘Wardrobe Law’, a pair in Grey and also a pair in Plum and I know you love your purple’s which is why I just had to tell you. I have been looking at the EMUS, I have been dropping heavy hints to my son to buy them for me for Xmas.
    Lots of love

  123. Nikki Stanescu November 29, 2009 at 7:39 pm -

    Dear Julia,
watched you on markon show tonight, you said you liked 141212. If you read the reviews everyone recommended going up a whole size so you could go for a 5. Is there anything you can do about the sizing issue? Also it would be really helpful to give the calf width on boots. I’m not the only one requesting this as I’ve read many reviews tonight. I would’ve ordered lots but can’t afford to lose 2 lots of p&p. PLEASE PLEASE can you get them to sort out sizing issue

  124. Sheila December 1, 2009 at 9:44 pm -

Hi Julia, Loved the Butler and Wilson weekend. I ordered the TSV on Friday morning and received it today (Tuesday)
in SPAIN !!! What a service. The watch is georgeous.

  125. julia roberts December 1, 2009 at 11:18 pm -

    Hello Suzanne
I haven’t heard of Hotter so I will have to look out for them, particularly as they have purple!!! My daughter has been dropping very large hints about a pair of Emus for Christmas – she is the same size as me, so it would probably be a good idea to get her some otherwise mine might disappear!!
    much love

    Hello Eileen
Thanks for the lovely compliment about the Butler and Wilson party outfit. I hope you enjoyed all the shows over last weekend?
My chocolate cake recipe is on a blog I wrote ages if you want to have a look. It is more or less just chocolate victoria sponge cake with fudge icing but it’s always well received by the family. If you try it let me know how it turns out
    much love

  127. julia roberts December 1, 2009 at 11:27 pm -

    Hi Nikki
Thanks for your suggestion but my left foot is only a 3 and a half so I think a 5 would be too big. I am sorry the sizing has been such an issue – there is a possibility that we may not be running Markon anymore and this may well have something to do with it

Wow ….. that was quick!! So glad you enjoyed the Butler and Wilson weekend – can’t believe he’s not back to February, it’s seems ages away! What colour TSV watch did you go for?

    Hi Julia,
I absolutely love to watch you on QVC, I think you’re fab, so cheery and bright!
You always look so immaculate and I wondered, do you have an all year tan or do you use fake tan as well? If so, what type do you use, as I’m a very similar skin tone to you.
Finally, have you tried pancetta with your sprouts, or maple syrup on your parsnips? Or you could substitute the parsnips for sweet potato or butternut squash with maple syrup for a nice change.
    Have a lovely Christmas!
    Germana x

    Hi Julia
    Can you help?
You were talking about a new Decleor Neck cream that seemed to sell out very very quick , can you remind me what the name of that cream is?
    Many thanks
    LOL X

  131. julia roberts December 7, 2009 at 12:16 pm -

    Hello Germana
Thankyou for all your lovely compliments – a great boost on a dreary day! I do enjoy the sunshine so I do sit out when I’m away in Spain or on holiday (with factor 30 on my face and 20 on my body – just in case Ali Young reads this!!!!) but I’m not a fake tan girl, so if I haven’t been away I just get gradually paler.
I’m a veggie so wouldn’t do the pancetta on sprouts but the maple syrup on parsnips sounds interesting ……. is it very sweet??
    Enjoy your Christmas
    Julia x

  132. julia roberts December 7, 2009 at 12:25 pm -

    Hello Sandra
The new neck cream from Decleor is from the Excellence de L’Age range. We had a few in November prior to its launch, but I haven’t seen it since, although there is a Decleor TSV at the beginning of January, so maybe the re-order will be in for then. It’s a lovely light texture, quite different from the Elemis Pro Collagen neck and bust which I also like and use.
Hope you manage to get some next time and that you like it
    Julia x

  133. Germana Thomson December 7, 2009 at 2:42 pm -

    Hi Julia,
It’s great that you can keep good colour all year round! I will stick to using Monne, I’ve found it’s the best yet for my skin colour, not at all orange.
The parnsips and maple syrup are quite sweet, but it works just as well with carrots which are less sweet. Just pour a little over them when they are finished cooking ๐Ÿ™‚

  134. Jennie Cocksedge December 16, 2009 at 12:56 pm -

    Hi Julia,
You wore the most beautiful tunic/dress on air yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 15th December)! I was hoping it was from an upcoming Nina Leonard show so watched with anticipation …. but then you changed your outfit so I guess it wasn’t! It was black with a paisley print down one side in different colours. You looked stunning in it! Can you let me know if it’s from any of the QVC fashion ranges?
    Thanks ever so!

Hello Julia, Ihave been admiring the silver watch you have been wearing recently, it has a senorita fastening, I do hope that you don’t mind my asking where you purchased it from. Many Thanks, Anne (Lincoln)

  136. Jennie Cocksedge December 17, 2009 at 10:07 am -

    Hi again Julia!
Further to my recent message, I realised the dress I was referring to was from the new Ronni Nicole range. I got to the phone as soon as I could last night, but unfortunately I just missed out as it sold out in all sizes! I’m not surprised, it was utterly gorgeous!
Do you have any idea when some more might come into stock?
Thank you, and have a wonderful Christmas! Oh, by the way, my little girl Amรฉlie (a total cat lover!) sends a big Christmas kiss to your Daisy and Poppy!!
    Much Love,

Hi Julia, Finally plucking up the courage to write something on your blog!!!!! Think your tree is fab, but think a little feline member of the family will think it’s a new toy !! My feline friend (?) aka Casper is massive and just throws himself at the tree so we have decided a tree is a no no!!!!
Sorry I missed you when I attended the jewellery event back in Oct at QVC, Dale was our host and he was absolutely charming, like you, so much younger in the flesh !!! Simon popped up that day and teased poor Dale something rotten. Well Julia hope you and the family have a great Christmas and a healthy happy new year, hope 2010 is a good one. love Mamie

  138. julia roberts December 21, 2009 at 1:27 am -

    Hi Jennie
I’m so sorry you missed out on the Ronnie Nicole dress – I agree really stylish and very flattering. They do tend to take a while to come back IF they get re-ordered as they like to bring lots of new each visit in this range. I would suggest you check in about 3 weeks, just in case anyone who ordered by cheque didn’t send their payment in.
Please thank Amelie for her kisses to Poppy and Daisy – Daisy’s will have to go to cat heaven though as we lost her to a road accident a couple of years ago – probably don’t mention that to Amelie.
Hoping you all have a lovely Christmas

    Hello Anne
The watch I wear a lot on air at the moment is the white gold version of the popcorn bracelet watch which has been so popular on QVC. Unfortunately we don’t do the white one anymore so I should probably look for a new design to wear on TV. Sorry I couldn’t be more help
    Merry Christmas

Hi Julia big fan of your presenting hours on QVC. Very entertaining. I remember you have worn leather trousers ,with them being back in fashion would you wear them again?
    kind regards

  141. Linda January 8, 2010 at 1:46 pm -

    Hi Julia
I’m just catching up with your blog and wanted to wish you and yours a really happy and successful 2010. Sounds as if you’ve been a busy lady since we last spoke – the Lulu concert looks fab and what can i say about Simon’s 40th extravagansa – wonderful but then we are talking about Simon ehx I loved the Scottish pipers he had in one of the sets – he never forgets his Scottish roots(or is it Margaret not letting him ha hax) You’ve hinted at a new hair style for 2010! you are so brave as you have beautiful hair( a certain Ms Cole needs extensions to get your look!) but your face shape and good bone structure(thanks to mumx)will suit most styles – are you thinking short(not too short) or maybe bobbed to the shoulder? I cant wait – remember when Michael Di Cesare first blowed your hair out, must have been about 5-6 years ago?, it was a little shorter at first but looked great(i particulary remember you going to Italy for one of the jewellery fairs and there was a promo with you in a red trouser suit, you looked greatx) I loved it when it became longer and you used to straighten it – beautiful. I hope you and yours had a great Christmasx Keep warm and save – i’m tucked up in my Slanket(pink of course), central heating full blast switching between work, surfing the web and watching QVC(naughty but nicex) Much Love Lindax

    Hello Paul
Thanks for the compliments about me being entertaining to watch. With regard to leather trousers – I would need to drop a few pounds to get back into the originals but never say never!
    keep watching

  143. julia roberts January 14, 2010 at 6:07 pm -

    Hello Linda
What a lovely chatty post. Yes it’s been a busy time with Lulu and B & W but genuinely enjoyable ……. the Pipers were great! I’m definitely going to have a new hair style soon just haven’t decided what. I don’t think I’ll go too short, plenty of time for that when my hair starts to thin a bit which it undoubtedly will. I remember that trip to Italy – yes I quite liked my hair then so maybe …………. ???
Christmas was good and just hoping that 2010 will improve, particularly healthwise as I haven’t been too good so far. Hope it’s a great year for you too.
Have just been in my living room – Sophie has just got in from work and is snuggled up in her pink slanket – a Christmas present that has come in very handy with all this dreadful weather( Daniel has a blue one – I’m so traditional ).
    much love

    Hello Julia
Lovely to see you back yesterday, sorry that you have been ill and hope that you get well soon. You have been missed, the other guys are all fab, but it hasn’t been the same without you there! At least the snow is starting to go, I have today, at last, managed to get out of my road in the car, mind you it has done me good walking to work for the last two weeks great start to the getting a lot fitter this year. Thank you for posting your Christmas cake receipe, I used it and must say it was lovely. Will be doing it again next year. My cats (Aztec & Inca) send you get well meows, they don’t like the snow so are going crazy being under house arrest. Take Care
    Love Claire x

  145. julia roberts January 17, 2010 at 5:05 pm -

    Hello Claire
Thanks for your lovely post – I know what Aztec and Inca feel like, I have been going stir crazy too – I am a terrible patient!! My cat Poppy doesn’t really go out much anyway, but she has been peering quizically at the ‘white stuff’ from the safety of the house!
So glad you liked the Christmas cake – I did one for the backstage gang as usual and it seemed to go down well.
I’m off for the next 2 weeks but I’ll be back raring to go on 4th Feb …….. I’ll keep blogging though

You are the bearer of good news – I’m in Spain so didn’t know Sara had the baby! I thought it was a boy as she was so slim all over with quite a pronounced ‘bump’! Can’t wait to see them both – I LOVE babies!

I’m fine now thanks – January wasn’t the best month for me, but it’s February now and things are looking up! I’m away on holiday but I will be back on QVC on Thursday and I’m looking forward to it.

  150. Claire Upton February 9, 2010 at 11:22 pm -

    Hi Julia
Nice to see you back, must say your holiday seems to have agreeded with you and you look very refreshed and healthy again, especially after your bad start to the year. Well I had a bit of a comic sketch going on in my kitchen last night, washing a cat with SBC teatree body wash and lots of water, Aztec did not have a good look going on, very wet and skinny, but it was necessary! with his brother in hiding behind the sofa worried he was next! It all ended well, this morning he was sat there like a very large soft puff ball, with a lovely smell! I ordered the TSV Emu boots last week, my first pair, but don’t think that they will be the last I love them, they are so comfortable and warm, especially as it seems to be getting cold yet again. Take care. Claire xx

  151. julia roberts February 10, 2010 at 12:17 pm -

    Hi Claire
I feel I must ask, why did you have to wash Aztec??? I’ve had cats for the last 30 years and have never washed one of them. I CANNOT imagine trying to wash Poppy – she runs a mile if she gets a splash of water on her when she comes to see me in the bath.
So glad you like your Emus – I have a show with Sam in a couple of weeks and I think I will be getting some more.
    much love

    Hi Julia
Just wanted to say I loved the dress you had on yesterday you looked lovely. Is the dress a qvc one if so can you give me details please. It was black v neck and multi colour kind of paisley print
    many thanks
    Karen Mallorca

  153. Claire Upton February 11, 2010 at 10:00 pm -

    Hi Julia
It’s a long story with Aztec – one of my neighbours have a unneutered tom cat, it was out the other night and Az came running to the door and had been attacked and smelt like a skunk, if you get my meaning? talc as a dry wash just didn’t work, so the sink was the last option!
I ordered the Taxco Traditions Carnelian wrap ring from your show last night, it looked so unusal and a great price. I never used to like wearing silver, but since having s/silver and platinum clad diamonique I have changed and actually enjoy wearing it, I think that qvc quality has a lot to do with that. Can’t wait for my delivery. Don’t work too hard!
    Claire xx

  154. julia roberts February 13, 2010 at 11:59 am -

    Hello Karen
I absolutely love that dress!!!! Yes it is a QVC product – it’s Ronnie Nichol. I had a look on our website for you but I can’t see it up there at the moment. There are 2 Ronnie Nichol shows on Saturday 20th as part of our fashion weekend so keep your eyes open or check our website a couple of days before.
    Thanks for the compliment

  155. julia roberts February 13, 2010 at 12:05 pm -

    Hi Claire
Poor Aztec, I hope she is ok now?! I think you will really like the quality of the Taxco ring – because it is all done by hand the pieces have a real weight to them and as you say the prices are really affordable.
Me, work too hard? I can’t help it, I love my job!!!

    Hi Julia,
Last week on checking the Butler & Wilson QVC website I found the large black 5 flower necklace in either black agate or onyx which I have been thinking about purchasing. I now regret not purchasing it when I saw it as today it appears to have disappeared. Only the grey and black 5 flower necklace appears to be available. Can you tell me whether it has been removed temporarily to accommodate new items or whether its removal is permanent? I hope not as I dearly would like to purchase this necklace. Looking forward to seeing you with Simon tonight.
    best wishes, Susan

hi julia i think you are a very good presenter you seem to be a real natural for the job i can see you doing your own show. i love to watch you and the gentleman who does butler and wilson you compliment each other well. im a big fan of qvc and have been for over 10 years.

  158. julia roberts February 25, 2010 at 4:22 pm -

    Hello Maria
What a lovely message!!!! There is nothing I would like more ( professionally speaking that is ) than my own show ……… you don’t have any contacts at the BBC do you, I hear they were looking for older women!!!!!! I always enjoy doing shows with Simon Wilson and I’m glad you do too.
    Keep watching

  159. julia roberts February 28, 2010 at 11:41 pm -

    Hello Susan
I have been trying to get hold of Nicky from Butler and Wilson to see if they have any of the black necklaces in the shop but she hasn’t got back to me yet ( Simon is away again ). If it’s not on our website it is because it has sold out, but if you have the item number try looking again now as sometimes people who order by cheque don’t send the cheques in and it then goes back onto our computer system.
I hope you enjoyed all the shows with Simon on this visit and I will keep trying to get hold of Nicky

  160. Patricia Gallagher March 12, 2010 at 7:08 pm -

Hi Julia, love all your shows. I was wondering if you could advise me. Do you remember the two tone cuff bracelet you wore so often we all wanted one. Qvc brought it back into stock. I bought one and was delighted with it. I only wore it on special occasions, weddings etc it was so special. Unfortunately it has broken, and as it is out of the one year warranty I took it to be repaired. The specalist jewellers cannot repair it, they stated that the fret work was so fine the gold would disintegrate. I was wondering if yours is wearing well and if anyone else had any problems. I hope to hear from you soon I really miss my bracelet. Sincere regards Pat Gallagher

  161. julia roberts March 15, 2010 at 11:10 pm -

    Hello Pat
I’m sorry to hear your bangle has broken. I still wear mine almost every day (had to stop wearing it on air as we don’t stock it anymore) and haven’t had any problems with it.
Not sure why a specialist can’t repair it as it would just mean careful soldering. If you write to me at the QVC London address I will take your letter to my boss and see if there is anything we can do.

I was really impressed with the way you recited the poem during the Treasures of India presentation. Please would you tell me what the poem is called and who the poet is? Thanks very much.
    Best wishes

  163. julia roberts March 29, 2010 at 11:51 pm -

    Hello Mina
Thanks for your kind compliment and hope you also enjoyed the jewellery? The poem is called ‘Imagination’ by G.F.Bradby and it has stayed with me for over 40 years so it must have made an impression on my 12 year old mind. I can honestly say I understand it much better now that I am older.
If you can’t find it anywhere let me know and I will write it out on my blog as I also had another request for it.

    Hi Julia
You are such a naughty tease wearing Simon’s TSV necklace. This means a late night staying up to buy it! My wife has chosen the lilac variety already. Popped in to see Simon last week and he says he is looking forward to the day. Take care. Dave and Val

  165. julia roberts April 6, 2010 at 1:45 pm -

    Hi Dave and Val
I am on with Simon today – he will probably tell me off for wearing the TSV!! The lilac is beautiful – almost clear in some lights, and very purpley in others!
Ring in tomorrow midnight – after you’ve ordered of course as we all know what happens to B&W TSV’s!

    Dear Julia
Please would you be so kind as to let me know where your outfit that you wore on the Smashbox TSV launch is from. Sorry to be so nosey but it looked amazing and am spending so much time looking throught the QVC web pages to find it without any luck. I have even been on facebook and posted a comment on there in desperation lol.

    Hello Julia,
Really enjoyed ‘Get Gorgeous’ weekend, and meeting your mum and Sophie.
You said the other day that you watch the TV programme Lion Man, it is also one of my favorites.
My eldest son and his family live in New Zealand and when I phoned told him I had been watching it.
I was very upset when he told me that his place had been closed down because one of the lions had killed a keeper. How very sad! Your presenting is brilliant, especially with Simon, bought lots.
    Love, Margaret x

  170. julia roberts May 17, 2010 at 4:10 pm -

    Hi Jane
The top I was wearing for the Smashbox launch was from Ted Baker – I have always ‘quite liked’ their stuff but this season is amazing, I have about a dozen outfits from there. Perhaps we should start doing it on QVC?
Hope you manage to get one

  171. julia roberts May 17, 2010 at 4:23 pm -

    speak soon

  172. julia roberts May 17, 2010 at 4:29 pm -

    Hi Lyn
Sorry I only just found your post. In truth I can’t remember what make-up I was wearing for the Ojon show, but since Beauty Day I have been using the Jemma Kidd primer and base. Eyes are usually Smashbox as are cheeks and lips could be anything – I think I have about 20 lip glosses, but usually with Gale Hayman 24ct underneath.
Yes I do use the Ojon treatment – once a week if I can find the time
Again apologies for being so late replying

    Hello Margaret
So pleased you enjoyed the Get Gorgeous event – very ‘girly’ wasn’t it!? Mum and Sophie really enjoyed being on TV – especially mum who I was amazed did so well as she was really nervous beforehand.
I had heard that one of the keepers was killed at Zion Park but I didn’t know they had closed it down …….. what a shame.

Oh Julia whats a girl to do, I wanted a Purple TSV Gossip watch just like you. However,I was too late in ordering it so had to buy two, one Pink & one Blue too compensate. (Well that’s what I’m telling my other half anyway!)

    Hello Martin
Good to hear from you. I’m pleased you enjoyed seeing my mum and Sophie on Butler and Wilson. Daniel was reminding me about the shows they used to be on in the early days of QVC. He now does some fitness modelling for us – he’s next on on June 10th with a TSV.
I’m afraid I have lost touch with Kara, Katy and Dave. I do still speak to Paul though not as much as I used to. Last time was just before his 60th birthday!!!!!!!
I do keep suggesting doing men’s fashion, as does Glen Campbell but no sign so far – we’ll keep trying
    take care

No news on the men’s fashion yet – it will take a while as they have to source a range and then buy it which could be several months.
I am glad you enjoyed me doing the computer show – I wish I could say the same!!
No I have not heard from Maria Rice Mundy, but Suzanne came in here as a guest a couple of years ago and I had lunch with Jon Briggs last October.

    Hi Julia,
I was wondering if you could help me with an item number for the blue sandstone bracelet you were wearing during the sandstone hour on Wednesday evening (2nd June). You did mention it wasn’t featured in that particular show and would be on the Friday evening opaque gems finale. I have searched the website but there’s no sign of it and I even phoned customer services during the Wednesday show. They said they would contact the London studio and get an announcement made on air but it never happened. I am desperate to get that bracelet to match a pendant and earrings I ordered earlier in the week. If you can help me track it down you would be a real GEM.

Hi Julia,Have got, as you requested, a fab recipe for Lemon Drizzle Cake. You will need a lined loaf tin (23 x13 x 7cm). For the cake you need – 125g butter, 175g caster sugar, 2 large eggs, zest of 2 lemons, 175g SR flour, 4 tbsps milk. For the syrup you will need – juice of 2 lemons, 120g icing sugar. Heat oven to 180C/gas mark 4. Cream together butter & sugar, add eggs & zest, beating them in well. Then add flour, folding in thoroughly, then mix in the milk. Spoon mixture into prepared loaf tin (I use a paper liner) & put it in oven. Whilst cake is baking put juice & icing sugar in small saucepan & heat gently till sugar dissolves.
Bake cake for 45mins or until cake is golden & risen in the middle (it will sink a little on cooling). As soon as cake is out of oven, use a skewer to pierce it all over, the pour over syrup trying to let the middle absorb as much as the sides. Leave cake in tin till completely cool. Enjoy! Love Dee

    Hi Julia,
I have been a customer with QVC for many years now and have enjoyed the many products brought to us by the team.
My sister has just returned from a family holiday to Egypt. They had a fine time but found it very hot.
They have noticed a marked change in your appears since the last time they tuned in and I have to agree that you are looking much slimmer and just hope that this is intentional weight loss and not thru illness.
You are looking years younger and very lean. I hope you have reached your goal now as I wouldn’t like to see you get any slimmer.
Simon is looking leaner too. Is this co-incidence or has QVC presenters joined Weighwatchers????????????

  187. julia roberts July 21, 2010 at 12:21 am -

    Hello Jane
Thanks for the compliments – always nice to hear those words ‘you are looking years younger’!!!!! It is intentional weightloss – I began a diet and exercise programme on March 1st and am delighted to say I have exceeded my own expectations by losing 23lbs – I have about another 4 or 5lbs I would like to shift and then I will be satisfied. With regard to Simon, he always looks very slim to me!
I think Egypt must be very hot at this time of year, it’s been bad enough here for the last couple of weeks hasn’t it?
Hope you’ll be shopping with us for many years to come

    Hello Susan
Sorry I have not replied to you sooner but I don’t always check this post as it is several pages long! Anyway, I am as much in the dark as you. The bracelet was left in my dressing room along with a note saying that the pieces would be featured on QVC in my shows that week. It didn’t appear and wasn’t on the website – I can only assume that the stock didn’t arrive on time to be included in the show.
Have you checked the website since? It will probably appear at some point.
Apologies again for my tardy reply

  189. julia roberts July 21, 2010 at 12:34 am -

    Hi Martin
Shame you missed Billy Ocean on QVC. You will probably have noticed that we have started to do more music again on QVC, I hope you are enjoying it? With regard to the men’s fashion, as I mentioned before it will be some months before a decision is taken and yet longer before any men’s fashion starts to appear ( if it gets the go ahead ) so I’m afraid you are in for a bit of a wait.
Hope you enjoy the weekend – Christmas in July – I have 6 shows so will try to be festive, although it’s a bit early for me to be thinking about Christmas as I’m a bit of a last minute Lulu!!!

I did the first 2 series of ‘The Price is Right’ ……… I am still very friendly with one of the other hostesses, Denise, who now works as a contestant researcher for quiz/gameshows. Leslie Crowther was a very nice man and often used to come out to dinner with the producer of the show ( one William G Stewart of 15 to 1 fame ) and the girls. What a tragedy his accident was.
Will check out that website when I have some spare time.

    Hello Alana,
I’m glad you enjoy my recipes. My Luscious Lemon Cake is very lemony!
Melt 4 oz marg with 4 oz golden caster sugar over a low heat. Allow to cool slightly. Beat one egg in a large basin then whisk in the melted marg mix. Fold in 4 oz SR flour and the grated rind of 1 lemon. Pour into a 7 inch square lined baking tin and cook for 30 mins on 175. When cake is nearly cooked put juice of 1 lemon and 1 oz caster sugar into a small pan and warm until sugar is melted. Take cake out of oven and prick all over with fork then spoon syrup over whole cake. Allow to cool and cut into 8 pieces – it’s very nice ( well I think so anyway )
    hope you like it

  213. julia roberts September 1, 2010 at 1:11 am -

    Hi Marina
Glad to hear you have joined the ranks of us vegetarians. The main thing is not to eat too much pasta as it is quick and easy and some veggie recipes aren’t, and remember ‘cheese is the enemy’! Well it’s ok in small amounts but don’t have it too much as your protein source. I like cottage cheese, in fact try my lasagne recipe which is on an old blog if you look through, it has walnuts and spinach in it – we had it for dinner tonight.
I do use Quorn sometimes for Shepherds Pie and Spag Bol – good protein and low fat. Chick peas and beans are also low fat and good protein, so homemade curries and bean chillis are good.
I’ve lost my weight through portion control, not eating ‘rubbish’ and exercising …….. even I’m amazed at the results that my will power has delivered.
    happy healthy eating

Dan and Sophie are good. Sophie is enjoying her job at QVC and also has her Pin-Up for Heroes Calendar coming out soon – I’ll let everyone know nearer the time.
I’ve only worked for a cable radio station called Eclipse FM – I used to do a show called The Palace Programme ….. you guessed it, all about Crystal Palace football club but with a bit of music thrown in too – it was great fun. I would definitely like to do more radio at some point.
    take care

I saw you launch Kiplings TSV tonite. You were wearing the most beautiful top. It looked like silk with a beautiful print. We searched through a lot of the fashion designers that appear on QVC to no avail..we had discussions Butler & Wilson? Dreamkeeper? Nina Leonard ? please put us out of our misery..or is it not QVC !

Hi Julia, Just watching QVC, you and Kipling. Love, love love Kipling, my lastest fav is the Benita, could you please ask if we could have it in more colours and also bring back some of the colours which seem to have disappeared. I think QVC has created a lot of Kipling fans over the years. I’ll pass on your request about the Benita – sometimes the colours go because Kipling ‘retire’ them and even ‘we’ can’t persuade them to keep producing them!

    Hi Kris
Thanks for the compliments and for appreciating the effort it has taken – but honestly I feel so much better.
I’m really suprised that a local jeweller couldn’t either repair or replace the senorita clasp as they are not that uncommon these days. Is there another jeweller you could try? I have a feeling the watches were made in Italy but don’t quote me on it.
If you have no luck at all you could ring customer services to see if they have any suggestions or write to me ‘snail mail’ and I will take your letter to the CEO.

    Hello Martin
No I haven’t really thought about Christmas shopping yet as I have been moving house, and anyway I tend to wait until after Daniel’s birthday on the 27th November ( can’t believe he will be 24 this year! ).
I did manage to sample some of the Thornton’s Chocs and can report they were delicious

    Hi Nicky
Thanks for the compliment re my appearance. I kicked off my weightloss with Diet Chef but haven’t been on it for about 3 months – it has reminded me of some good habits re portion size and not too much naughty snacking.
I may well have to do it again for a week or two after Christmas if you get my drift!

  248. julia roberts January 14, 2011 at 1:40 am -

    Hello Caroline
Thanks for your lovely compliment and congratulations on your upcoming 50th birthday.
I started my weightloss with the Diet Chef programme – I stuck rigidly to it for a month but kept on it more or less for another couple of months – it has really helped me trim down my portion sizes!
I also got back on my Pilates machine and treadmill which has helped me to tone up not just slim down.
    Good luck
    Julia x

  249. julia roberts January 14, 2011 at 1:46 am -

    Hello Diane
I don’t mind you writing to me at all! I’m thrilled to hear you have purcheased the Pilates machine – has it arrived yet?? When it does I would recommend watching the starter DVD through first and then having a go at a few of the exercises. I wouldn’t do more than 10 minutes on your first day ( no more than 2 minutes on the cardio board ) but you will be suprised how quickly you build up and can do the full sequence. Good luck with it – I really hope you enjoy it.
My sister turned 60 last week though in honesty you would never believe it …………. I’m not that far behind her!

  250. Gwen January 31, 2011 at 10:34 pm -

    Hello Julia,
I just have to say I think you are the best presenter on QVC. What I really like is that when you do a show you ask the questions that we at home are asking ourselves, for me that is the major factor that makes me buy, if something is described clearly and you do that brilliantly. What I would like to know is what makeup you use and in what shades? As I have the same colourings as you with the dark hair and dark eyes and medium skin-tone however I cannot find colours that really suit me and I dont feel comfortable in makeup that doesnt suit me. Who Would? Also I am finding that alot of makeup on the high street contains far too much shimmer which is not a good thing at my age, please help me with this dilemma.
    Many Thanks.
    Love Gwen x

  251. julia roberts February 5, 2011 at 10:29 pm -

    Hello Gwen
Firstly thankyou so much for all your lovely compliments.
I know what you mean about make-up – we want it to be just right. I use bare escentuals mineral foundation ( usually medium tan but I’m very pale at the moment so medium beige ), I am using a smashbox blusher ( fusion softlights intermix – I’m not sure they make it anymore though ), on my eyes I have a YSL compact with purples in it and black YSL mascara. Lips I change constantly but tend to go for light pinky shades as I do dark eyes. Not sure if this will have helped you much but I do hope so.

Please could you tell me what the music is that plays when Diamonique comes on? I mean the one with the 3 women and it says DMQ Girls. I really like it. :o)

  253. julia roberts March 8, 2011 at 11:17 am -

    Hi Melanie
Like most television companies QVC use library music which is not available to the general public to buy – sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I love loads of our jingles and promos music – maybe the companies should consider selling it?

    Dear Julia,
I have been looking forward to purchasing the TSV,the Aeropilates 4300 package and have not been successful because I live in Lurgan, Co Armagh,Northern Ireland.
I would like to say how terrific you look and how well you’ve done loosing those pounds and when you said it was down to this machine I decided I have to get one. I take Marjolein at her word when she said that her goal is to encourage for every home in the UK to have one of these. I am part of the UK as well and I am so upset and disappointed that I cannot avail of this. I would pay extra for delivery! Is there anything you can do to help. I have also sent an e-mail to Marjolein at Lighterliving.com. I am in my 40s and would like to loose a couple of stone, have a few back problems and also have Fibromyalgia and incontinence and I thought this could be the answer. I would be thrilled if you could help. Thankyou for taking the time to read this email and I look forward to hearing from you, if possible.Kind Regards Daphne
I have been on the phone with your customer services a number of times today to see if there are any other ways I can geet this.

Hi Julia, please could i ask where you bought your amazing dress from? the one worn last night on the bedding collection, it was a black and cream tunic style dress with detail on the front, im going to a wedding shortly and thought it would look lovely. Please.
    Thanks so much

  257. Julia Roberts May 16, 2011 at 10:29 pm -

    Hello Barbara
Firstly apologies for not replying to you sooner – I only just found your post. Secondly thanks so much for the lovely compliments.
OK, the way I lost my weight was to initially go on the Diet Chef plan for one month ( I stuck to it absolutely ) then I did another month of sticking to it most days but eating family meals a couple of times a week. By this time I had realised that my main problem was portion size – I now eat anything I want but small portions of it.
I have also been very good with my exercise routine – Pilates, walking on the treadmill and swimming – at least 3 or 4 times a week. It took me about 6 months to lose 2 stone, but most importantly I have managed to keep it off for the last 8 months.
I would recommend NOT banning anything from your diet long term but cutting out ‘snacks’ like crisps and chocolate to start with until you’ve reduced your appetite size.
I wish you all the best and hope I’ve been of some help

    Hi Daphne
Thanks for your kind compliments. I was very disappointed to read that you could not get the Aeropilates machine because of where you live. I will speak to Marjolein also and see if there is anything QVC can do to help. Would it be possible for you to write to me at Marco Polo House and then I can also show your letter to our CEO.
    I will do my best

  260. Sandra May 18, 2011 at 10:49 pm -

Julia it could be one of two things. I had a problem like this a while ago, first of all do you put your under wear like bras in the same wash, I was told to fasten the hooks as they catch in the garments fasten all zips and hooks thats what I was told, also your washing machine drum could be faulty, you know the holes in the drum they need to be checked. I ended up having to get a new washing machine in the end. Hope this helps.

  261. julia roberts May 26, 2011 at 11:14 pm -

    Hi Sandra
Only just found this post about my holey T shirts! A couple of people have mentioned fastening zips so I will start doing that again, but I already do put my bras in a lingerie bag so it can’t be that.
Re the washing machine – it could be faulty but I think it would probably affect the rest of the families washing and so far it hasn’t.

    Hi Julia,
I am the same age, height and dress size as you, and also love my pilates reformer, bought from QVC last November. I have used it three times a week religiously and must say I am impressed by the reshaping of my body!! However, your arms are amazing and that is probably the only part of my body that I am not totally happy with yet. Any tips please for the pilates reformer to improve mainly the tricep (bingowing) area!! You look completely amazing Julia and make me proud to be 50! Heatherx

hello julia, you are a very elegant lady and always look lovely when you are presenting. I always look forward to seeing you on qvc, you brighten up the day. I hope that you can help me to track down a silver ring that i have seen you wearing occasionally. Its a very bold silver ring that looks very much like a opened flower {quite large}. It is just plain no stones are set into it. I have contacted the call centre but they were unable to help, I hope that maybe you will recall wearing it and could let me know the item number thankyou clare

    Hello Heather
I only just found these messages – I don’t check this one very often as I have to scroll down all the pages to see if there are any new messages – how lovely to find yours and the others!
Thanks for all your lovely compliments and so pleased you also are getting good results from your Pilates Performer.
Hug a tree and Serve the brownies are really good for the triceps, also overhead press. And when you are facing the risers for bicep curls, the pull backs are very good as are the arm circles.
Extra tip – if you go for a walk or have a treadmill wear wrist weights ( 1lb per wrist is fine ) – and swimming backstroke is brill.
    Hope this helps?

    Dear Julia,
How are you these days ? Very busy by the sound of it. I have 3 questions to ask you- When and why are you moving to Chiswick and has Ali, the lovely model on the Butler and Wilson shows had her baby yet ? She was due around March 1st and being Welsh I was hoping that her little one had arrived on our special day. Also what type of job has taken Sophie away from QVC ? Whatever it is, I hope she enjoys it after returning from Australia. Many thanks Julia . Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Julia. l stayed up especially Monday night for Tuesday’s TSV after watching your show over the weekend when you said your nail varnish would be on Tuesday’s TSV with nails inc. I also told all my nail varnish friends 29 in all so they also stayed up to tune in and it was luggage. So Tuesday’s TSV is actually luggage and it is Wednesday’s that is going to be nails inc. I was so disappointed and embarrassed as we had all stayed up. Surely the TSV is for the day it is sold not the day which has just ended. It would be more sensible to say Wednesday’s TSV which starts at midnight Tuesday if you are going to go along with your timing. Sorry to be so pedantic but it was how I was brought up and I can’t change the habits of a lifetime at my age LOL. Can presenters please remember this in future it really would help us over 55’s . Many thanks. A BIG fan of yours.

    Hello Julia,
You are looking great as always. I hope you and everybody are ok and doing well. Are you settled into your new home yet? I know just how stressfull moving can be but you seem to be looking well on it. I was writing in to ask if your good friend Simon Wilson could possibly consider making a brooch in the shape of a Sun, with a friendly face, with wavy rays coming out from all around it, covered in gold/orange/yellow crystals. Maybe he has already made it and I’ve missed it but it’s just what I’m looking for at the minute. I have so many of his brooches and they are without doubt exquisite, my favourite piece of all is the Large Eye Brooch I get so many comments when I wear it.
Many Thanks for taking my question.
    Lots of Love

    Dear Julia,
There haven’t been any Sci-fi Hours or Star Trek hours on QVC now for over ten years or more now? Why is that? I remember all those years ago when you had your hair different, and Debbie Flint was on QVC originally with yourself and Paul lavers too! I’m a sci-fi fan and like Star Trek, Doctor Who and other tv shows of that genre! The last item I bought from one of your old Sci-fi QVc Hours, was a Set of 84 Star Trek-Trading Cards back in 2001. Does QVC not have any new contacts with Sci-fi companies over Merchandising and, maybe new Comics Hours to show on QVC Shopping Channel at all? I used to watch a loud guy or guest who was on Comics Hours with one of your older presenters at the time, he wore tee-shirts and was from America? I would be pleased for any reply you can send me!
    Kind regards,

I know Paul Lavers was in a Tom Baker story from the Key Of Time Boxset available now on DVD, called Androids Of Tara, but can I ask which Doctor Who story you were in? Thank you for any reply you can send me, when you can Julia! Kind regards, John Rennie x x x

Anyway, in answer to your question about my watch. It was a QVC product until a couple of years ago – we did it in white and yellow gold – but it was eventually retired as the ever rising cost of gold was making it too expensive.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, and after all this time too!

    Hi Lynne
I have only just found these messages – sorry for the delay in replying!
As I wrote to Jeanette, the watch is a white gold ‘popcorn’ watch that we used to sell but haven’t for the last couple of years as gold has become too expensive.
With regard to my weight loss – it was achieved through following Diet Chef initially and then sensible eating accompanied by lots of exercise. I have put on a few pounds recently as I haven’t been able to exercise as much as I would have liked but hopefully I can drop it again soon

    Hello Val
Thankyou so much for your kind offer of the tickets to the rugby. Unfortunately I didn’t see your message until now. I’m so sorry if you thought I was being ungrateful by not responding.
It is usually best to post me a message on my current blog ( even if unrelated ) as I check that every week.
I hope they went to a good home?

    Hello Brenda
    Thanks for your lovely compliments.
I am a regular size 4 on my right foot and 3.5 on my left so I always have to buy a size 4 …. I think most people have one foot bigger than the other don’t they, or am I just peculiar???

    Hello Jan
Due to the length of time that has passed between the Honora show last December and me finding your message, I can honestly say I can’t remember what I was wearing …. sorry on both counts!
I do remember having a lovely Christmas though and I hope you did too

    Hello Shida
Sorry not to respond before. Yes the necklace I used to wear a lot was Diamonique but I think it has been retired from the range – maybe we should start a campaign to get it reinstated as I had lots of comments about it.
Hope you had something else lovely last Christmas

    Hello Marjorie
Thanks for your lovely compliments about my hair. I did have a good few inches taken off it to ‘tidy’ it up a bit, but as you can see if you are still watching QVC I have kept it long for the time being.

    Hello May
Yes the white gold popcorn bracelet watch was made exclusively for QVC. They retired it due to the escalating price of gold making it too expensive. Shame really as I love my watch and I know lots of you guys do too.

    Hi Meryl
Sorry to take so long to reply to your questions but I only just found your post!!
QVC moved into purpose built studios in June and it is working out pretty well most of the time!
Ali had a girl, India, but I don’t think she was born on St. David’s day ( might have been March 5th or 6th? )
Sophie has moved into recruitment. It is a pretty tough job but she is enjoying the challenge, and really likes the company she is working for!

    Hi Sue
Sorry I misled you and all your friends over the timing of the Nails Inc TSV back in March … I’m hoping you have all forgiven me by now??
By the way I am in the over 55’s club too

    Hello Jane
I have had lots of enquiries on this page about the white gold watch I wear … maybe QVC should consider selling it again?!? It was discontinued a couple of years ago due to the ever increasing cost of gold. Who knows, if the price falls back, maybe they will do it again.

    Hi Suzanne
I’ve just found your request for Simon ( Butler and Wilson ). I think maybe you mean like the sun god ‘Helios’?? That would be a great idea, and I would probably buy one too as I have a Helios next to our front door which I brought back from a Greek holiday.
    I’ll pass the request on

    Hi Karen
Even though June was a long time ago I know the top you mean as you described it so accurately. It was from M & S BUT that was 2 or 3 years ago so I doubt that they will still do it … sorry!

    Hello Pam
My hair is very wild if I leave it to dry on its own, so I generally blow dry it or use heated rollers if I am going on TV. I protect it from the heat styling appliances by using Aveda Damage Remedy leave in conditioner and I also do a weekly Ojon treatment, leaving it on my hair for at least 30 minutes!
    Hope that helps

    Hello John
Thanks for both your messages. You are right, we haven’t done collectable shows on QVC for a very long time. They probably became less popular with the viewers generally and so got dropped. I know the guest you are talking about …. I just can’t remember his name!
I’m not sure where the info about me being in an episode of Dr. Who originated. It was only a very small non speaking part, and unfortunately I don’t even remember which ‘Doctor’ it was – it was all a very long time ago ….. sorry!
Thanks for your very kind compliment and pleased to report my family are well

    Dear Julia,
Thanks for the reply you sent me; about me asking you about your time on Doctor Who, and on SCI-fi hours on QVC… I wondered hy are there not more Gents products on QVC? When the fashion hours come on QVC Shopping Channels, there are only a few products for men? Just Umbrellas and Watches… can QVC not bring more fashion for men that includes what’s available to Women on QVC… More Raincoats, Umbrellas, Watches, Jewellery, Boots and Hats and Scarves too for men, I’m feeling left out? Boo Hoo! Thanks for any reply you can send me Julia? Please have a great time this Christmas, and hope you and your family have a lovely New Year too, when it comes around?
    Kind Regards,
    John Rennie. x x x

Hi …somy to hear yr news …… Such a shock. I am currently just over half way of a journey I had to take since last July with a rare type of sarcoma. Had chemo and 6 weeks ago major op on thigh. Recovering at home waiting for wound to heal then radiotherapy ……… It’s so hard at times but talking to people who are or have made the journey helps so much. I hope you will keep in touch with me as I am pretty much housebound and spend a lot of time on my ipad ! Stay positive and put your trust in the docs and nursing team ….. Do you have a specialist nurse …. They are a pot of gold ! Barbara xxx

Hi julia, sorry to hear about your recent health news, I had cancer myself at the age of 16 yrs 2mths.
The treatment, unfortunatly, stopped me ever having any children. Enjoy your children, as much as possible. Wish you well,

Hi Julia, just saw you on QVC talking about your book. So pleased to hear you support End Polio Now, a Rotary International campaign – we are ‘This Close’ to eradicating it. FYI my sister Pennie, has been diagnosed with CML since 2002. Life is not always a bed of roses, as the thorns do get under under your skin, but keep a positive outlook and surround yourself with people who do the same, and you will find the good days are wonderful and the not so good you can cope with!! My bone marrow, donated when she asked me, is still in a deep freeze somewhere in a London Hospital, as she thankfully hasn’t needed it yet!
    Very best wishes

    Hi Julia,
Just thought I would clarify something you queried in Kim’s show at midnight. You asked what a butterfly collector was called and you had two replies on Twitter saying it was an entomologist. This is actually wrong. An entomologist studies insects, but lepidoptery is the study of butterflies and a lepidopterist is a butterfly collector.
Loved the Kim & Co TSV by the way and ordered the white print. one.

    Hi John
I only just found this post as I always forget to check these – going forward would you mind just posting on my latest blog as this one is going to be disabled.
I hope you had a lovely Christmas and suitable New Year celebrations for your part of the world.
I am still fighting your corner to try and get more men’s fashion on QVC. It seems Birkenstock and Emu are it at the moment …. I’ll keep trying

    Hi Marie
Apologies for the delay in replying and as I explained to John we are going to disable replies on this section of my blog from next week so if you could post any further comments on my latest blog that would be great!
Ken Paves gave me a cinnamon wig because he liked it on me so much, but I haven’t been brave enough to wear it yet ….. maybe one day!

    Dear Barbara
I am so sorry it has taken me a while to reply to your message – I forget to check for messages on this part of my blog so apologies if you thought I was ignoring you.
I am hoping that your wound has healed now after your operation and that you are coping with your radiotherapy ok both physically and mentally.
I am very fortunate that the treatment for Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia doesn’t involve surgery unless the ‘drugs’ stop working and there are now several drugs to try before a bone marrow transplant would be considered. I am so thankful for an early diagnosis and for all the research that charities have funded into the various blood cancers.
Let’s keep in touch …. from now on please write to me on my latest blog and I will reply much more speedily.
I don’t have a nurse but I do have a fantastic Professor and of course my wonderful family
    Speak soon

    Hello Keith
Thanks for your message of support re my CML. it is coming up to the anniversary of my diagnosis on 26th April and I feel very lucky that my treatment seems to be working well.
I am so sorry that you were never able to have children – mine have been my raisin d’รชtre and along with my partner Chris are the reason I have coped with this latest adversity in my life so well.
Thanks for the compliment about my appearance too it gave me a real lift.
If you want to write again could I please ask that you post your message on my latest blog from now on

    Hello Celia
Thanks for your message. I am happy to support the ‘This Close’ campaign and will be giving a donation later in the year. I have also been asked to be an ambassador for the British Polio Fellowship and will be helping them with their awareness month in July. There are about 120,000 people in the UK living with the effects of polio and many have now developed a neurological condition called Post Polio Syndrome which is recognised by the World Health Organisation but not always recognised by GP’s. I will be doing a sponsored swim (100 lengths of the pool) for them and also for Lymphoma and Leukaemia Research in the summer.
I am pleased to hear your sister is doing well without the need for your bone marrow – while the medication continues to work it is the situation I am in. I have a wonderfully supportive family and that has helped me through the extraordinary events of the last year.
If you message me again would you be kind enough to leave it on my latest blog
    Thank you
    Julia x

    Hi Carole
Thanks for confirming what a later tweeter said that a butterfly collector is in fact a lepidopterist ….. I will try and remember for future reference.
Glad you liked the TSV – I couldn’t decide whether I preferred the black or the white one. Hope you enjoy wearing it.
    Julia x
