This is actually one of the biggest weeks of my life. It’s the week my first novel will be published, and I’m beside myself with excitement and anxiety. I’ve wanted to be a published author ever since I was a child, and it was a dream come true when I somehow managed to land a three-book publishing deal last year. I’d actually started writing the first novel several years before I joined QVC, but only managed to get it finished earlier this year. Now, on Thursday 22nd October, I’ll finally get to see it out there in the world. I keep having to pinch myself… is this really happening?
Due to a glitch, some people who had pre-ordered the paperback online received it early, so I’ve already had some feedback… all positive so far, I’m relieved to report! The book is called The Dead Dog Day, and it’s what the book industry calls “cosy crime” – a sort of mix between chick lit and a murder mystery, set in a TV newsroom. There’s a picture of the cover above. So here we go – my first venture into the big, scary, thrilling world of being an author. Wish me luck!
Meanwhile, at work, we’re now fully into the swing of Christmas! Sounds mad, doesn’t it, in October, but that’s the crazy wonderful world of QVC. We now have regular Christmas gift days and shows, and we’ve been given a fabulous selection of Christmas jumpers to wear, from ranges like Quacker Factory and Absolutely Famous. We have choices for both men and women on the website, so have a look, they’re so much fun… Simon and I are modelling a couple for you above!
Kathy Tayler and I had a funny moment when we both turned up to present the Morning Show in identical jumpers – and not only that! We were also both wearing faded black jeans and black ankle boots. Great minds think alike, eh? Here’s a clip!
Have a wonderful week!
