Well my hopes of a quick return, as mentioned in my last blog, were dashed when my doctor signed me off for another week. It was a good move on her part as I was determined to return the week earlier and to be honest that would have been a very poor decision, as my laryngitis was still very obvious. I asked if I could return earlier and she said: "On your larynx be it ". Wise words.
She explained that in situations like this, one always has to look at the longer term. Had I of returned a week earlier, I could have really damaged my voice and, as I'm sure some of you reading this will know, that can sometimes result in vocal problems that can go on for months.
As a colleague put it to me – if a footballer damages his foot, it's better for him to miss the next match and rest up to let it heal, rather than play on and end up on crutches for the rest of the season.
I returned last week a little hoarse, but fortunately I had a relatively light schedule and got through it – and as I write, I think I'm pretty much back to normal (whatever that means!).
Well, weather wise it was a pretty miserable Bank Holiday weekend and it doesn't seem very positive for the rest of the Whitsun break :( A testing time for parents with kids at home! My two both have an AS exam left upon their return, so perhaps the poor weather is actually helpful in their case?
Imagine Cruising complete!
The final Imagine Cruising show aired on Tuesday and I'm delighted to report that the series has been a great success with our QVC Customers. It's always exciting to bring a new concept to you all and I'm really pleased that the shows were received so well. This in itself is a reward for the dedicated teams, at both QVC and Imagine Cruising, who made the series possible.
If you saw any of the shows – I'd love your feedback, did you enjoy the format? Were the cruises and voyages the type that you wanted to see? What else would you have liked to see included in the shows? If you take the trouble to leave your comments below – I guarantee that your feedback will be passed onto the right people.
Dale's Nature Watch
With the poor weather, I'm afraid Dale's Nature Watch hasn't been brimming over with photos. Although, I did manage to catch a quick shot of a beautiful Roe doe in the woodland behind my house. Roe are surely the prettiest of the wild UK deer.
Unfortunately, I only had my phone with me, but I've included it together with a shot I took last Summer with my Fuji Bridge Camera which, obviously, gave much better results.
On Q this week…
I've got a lovely combination of Jewellery and Kitchen shows, with some of our favourite guests from both departments. Ginetta is back with Veronese and I'll be introducing you to brand new Italian fashion jewellery range Joy and Joy Jewellery with a glamorous new guest Manuela Biancospino. It's a quite stunning range full of Italian chic – showcasing on Saturday afternoon at 4pm.
Then, ladies – they said it would never happen again! Yes! It's time for another Dale & Charlie/Charlie & Dale Diamond Spectacular with everything on-air over the three hours on 3 Easy Pay – woohoo!
Join us between 3 and 6pm on Sunday afternoon for what will be three hours of stunning diamond designs, scintillating banter, and sensational offers – to cheer up any rainy Sunday afternoon! I'm not sure about the second but the first and third statements are definitely true!
Hope you can join us !
'till next time
