A day at the Olympic Park
Well, did you get to go? To anything? What surprised you most? (leave a comment below – I'd love to compare notes with you!)
Almost everyone I spoke to who went, said the Olympic stadium was the most awesome thing they'd ever been to, but as we couldn't get tickets for any events we gave up trying and accepted Craigy's offer of a couple of tickets for the day pass to the Olympic Park itself.
When brother Glenn, little Lara and I got inside, we couldn't believe how many people were thronging around the walkways – about 40 wide and as deep as the eye could see! And the eye could see a lot! This barely gives you an idea, but here's a glimpse, for those that never went!
I didn't have much time as I was on air that night, and 'someone' (thanks very much, Mr Back-of-My-Tandem!) had told me you could see all around it in just ten minutes or so, I only arrived mid-afternoon. Well, it took about 15 minutes to walk right into the Park from the Stratford tube station, only to reach a point where it said 'basketball arena, 30-40 minutes walk from here'. OMG!! So we basically went to McDonald's and then I came home again! (No, I had a water and a few of Lara's chips before you ask! Lol!)
As the Paralympics come to a close it'll be nice to hear your 'Olympic memories of a lifetime' – whether you went to an event, or watched from home. Or, like little Lara, you had a fab pic taken, which will always remind her of the 'once in a lifetime' she encountered. At least they went to see some events after I left, and I got safely back onto the train back to Gunnersbury for my evening shift – after all, Laura Geller awaited!
QVC's new website
It's worth a quick mention at this point of our new look website that's coming soon. It's being rolled out gradually so that some of you may have found it already.
It'll have all sorts of added benefits, like being to sign in with your email address after your first visit (so no more having to remember that long account number, creating your own Wish List which you can email to friends and family (just in time for Christmas, hint hint!), and an easy four-step checkout, just to name a few.
But the main thing blog regulars may notice is that our presenter blogs and QGossip are in the new QVC Community hub – so if you get stuck and can't find the blogs once it's rolled out completely, just find QVC Community and it'll be in there (hover your cursor over the word 'Home' at the top left-hand of page, and you'll see the link in the flyout menu). And if you HAVE already experienced the new look site, do let us know what you like best!
– Really enjoyed my hour with Jemma Kidd this week – plus sister Jodie, making an appearance as a model! Genuinely lovely girls! And fab make-up – am currently using Jemma's Artist Pro Palette for my regular on-air eyeshadow. Long-lasting, with a primer underneath. Fab!
– Marlene moment – after all that lovely baking on QVC this week, plus if you're frustrated and trying to wean yourself OFF sugar, here's an antidote. Also 'cos of the recent requests for more recipes, and it's also a nice little insight into what Marlene's all about. And this seed crunch tastes delicious! Go here to watch how to make them.
– Facebook funny – haha! This one made me laugh this week! 'Specially for all those 'back to school' parents out there who are breathing a collective sigh of relief this week! Lol! It's one of the reasons I learned meditation back in '91 – it was that or kill somebody when the kids were small and I used to take my turn in having them and five nephews and nieces over each week! Hehe!
– BLOOPER ALERT! Lots to choose from this week! I've uploaded several onto my YouTube account including this one from Andrew during Gatineau show. But my fave has to be this one from our lovely Julian – let me know if you see any others you'd like me to feature!
Trust Jules to see the funny side of the title of the little cake tin Tracey was selling this week on 'The Baking Boutique'! Did you buy anything BTW? I got the pastel cake plates! Lovely! Now just have to bake some macrobiotic cakes to go on them!
WATCH – I've been enjoying 'Celebrity Big Brother' – my excuse is it's an 'experiment in human behaviour' (!) (says Mrs New Scientist-Sun Reader! Hehe!)
But I thought I'd ask if any of you have been watching the new Sky comedy 'Trollied' – based on that character from the ads which were set in Valco, a fictional supermarket in Warrington. Soooo funny. First series was great. Second series is settling in, Friday nights on Sky1. Jane Horrocks attracted me into watching ('Little Voice' and 'Ab Fab') but I'm particularly impressed with several of the supporting roles, including 'Katie' and 'Linda'; and check out Sky player for catch-up TV – the first two episodes of second series are available now. If you see it, let me know your opinion!
QVC – Beauty Day and This Week I are Mostly Been Using – Daniel Sandler's body bronzer! His Billion Dollar Body Shimmer (201627) is a firm favourite – and I can get a good coverage without orange hands! Yay! It’s blooming brilliant! If you see me with tanned legs on air, that's what it is!
I've decided I look a lot better with a bit of a healthy 'glow', so am sticking with that and my fave on-air make-up, Philosophy’s Airbrushed Canvas in Bronze! (Or the new Laura Geller Tahitian from the recent TSV!)
This weekend watch out for the L'Occitane Today's Special Value on Sunday's Beauty Day – a super set of minis for travel and gifting! (and the bag that's on the current promo!) And Charlie Bears TSV on Monday – love them!
Have a great week and don't forget to leave me a comment below – on any of the above topics!
