Old friends, putting wheels in motion and something for the magpies!

Hi all. I hope you’re keeping well and happy. Life is good, albeit hectic, at Chez Huntley. Sometimes it’s when we are most run off our feet that we really need to take time to breathe. Our to-do list won’t go anywhere if we take a little time to recharge. That’s the thing about to-do lists, they may be irritating little piranhas of our time, snapping at our heels, but the indisputable attribute all of our lists share is that they are consistent and will never leave us!

If you’ve read my blogs before (or seen me on the telly box) you’ll probably know who Mandy is. If not, she is one of my oldest, and best, friends. We met when our eldest children were still in nappies and we have enjoyed the most fabulous and fun friendship as our families have grown and evolved. Imagine my shock when she told me she was going to move away! Imagine my delight when she told me it’s just twenty minutes down the road. Phew! So, I decided to pop round to her new place.

It’s perfect, just like her, and it was a real tonic to share in her and her partner, Gary’s, joy at being in their first home together. They deserve every happiness together and I’ve already planned my sleepover spot on their new sofa, ha ha!

They say you can count your truest friends on the fingers of one hand. I agree. I am a huge fan of Yankee Candles. You may know our wonderful Steven Corfield who represents the brand on QVC, alongside lovely Rosa Speyer. He has his very own Yankee Candle shop in Cardiff and it’s a real family affair with his partner, brother and parents all helping to create a cozy, caring experience for visitors.

This is the kind of people they are through and through. You know when you just click with someone and know you’ll be friends forever? Well, that’s how it was for me with Mandy and Steven. We always have fun together. I met up with him the other day for a bite to eat.

For some reason this photo really made us chuckle! I know, little things, eh? We decided we were too far apart to talk without the whole place hearing every word so we abandoned the idea of both being head of the table!

As for the ‘wheels in motion’ mention in the title of this blog…well, I got back in (on) the saddle, at last. Some other very dear people I know, Peter, Jacky and Duncan, are extremely keen cyclists and encouraged me to get out for a ride with them at the weekend. We cycled ten miles! My Freddie Fitbit was very happy with me that day!

I would’ve happily clocked up even more but for two things;

  1. I had to go to work later that day
  2. Ever heard the term ‘saddle sore’. Well. I won’t elaborate but, suffice to say, it took a good few days to sit down without a little wincing!

Moving on! As promised, something for the magpies! Lots of people have already spotted the wonderful jewellery that myself and Claire Sutton have been wearing lately. It’s a brand new collection from Danielle Nicole. I’m thrilled to be presenting this premiere show at 9pm on Tuesday the 13th of September. This lady has a remarkable following for her fabulous handbags and jewellery in the U.S. and now we are launching her new collection on QVC.

I’m very eclectic in my tastes, but one style that always appeals to me is contemporary. I love clean, crisp lines as well as arty, sculptural metals and Danielle is a wonder in what she does. Everything is very affordable, especially considering the quality and detail of her bags and jewellery. Here’s one of her gorgeous styles, the perfect-for-everyday Kingsley Crossbody Bag.

At 18 years old, Danielle made her mark by being one of the youngest handbag designers to sell at one of the most luxurious, high-end, iconic store on 5th Ave in New York City.

She was chosen out of 250 other handbag brands to produce 5,500 of her signature ‘Sydney’ shoppers for an event run by Oprah Winfrey, and her bags and jewellery have most recently been featured in many of the September glossies including O Magazine, Glamour & InStyle. Her accessories are worn by Hollywood’s top celebrities, fashion stylists and bloggers.

If you’re looking for something extra special that won’t break the bank then feast your eyes on her collection. It’s utterly gorgeous!

Well, I have gone on a bit, haven’t I? I’d best dash as I’m about to try out the forthcoming Bissell carpet washer, which is an upcoming Today’s Special Value offer. It’s on at midnight on Tuesday the 13th and is offered with a humongous saving. I don’t have carpets but I’m going to see what horrors are hiding in the upholstery of my furniture. I’ll report back so watch this space if you dare! It might get mucky!

Take care,

Love Catherine xx
