Oh what a night!

Julia at the Butler & Wilson party Simon Wilson never does anything by halves, and that was certainly true of his 40th Anniversary extravaganza! The venue was the KOKO club in Camden, London, and as well as celebrating his anniversary he was also raising money for Breast Cancer Care, which he did in abundance!

Dale meets a QVC fan at the party The celebrity guest list included model Yasmin Le Bon, designer Elizabeth Emanuel, Jo Wood and her Strictly Come Dancing partner Brendon Cole, TV presenters Jenny Frost and Nick Knowles, and photographer Terry O'Neil, not to mention our very own Dale, Pipa, Claire and Alison Young.

Claudia and I were "working", but we still had a great time. The newly crowned WBA World Heavyweight Champion David Haye even put in an appearance, hotfoot from recording the Jonathan Ross show.

Scottish pipersThe idea for the catwalk fashion show was born from his new book – which in itself is a work of art – and was all set against the backdrop of the jewelled cover of the book. The show was divided into chapters ranging from the totally glamorous 'Dazzling Diamante' to the downright quirky 'Fun and Fantasy'. We were even treated to a troupe of Scots pipers in the 'Celtic Boys' segment, in honour of Simon's Scottish heritage.

QVC's Renee models on the catwalk The fashion show featured no fewer than 64 models, including a couple of QVC's own models (you can see Renee in the pic to the right).

Congratulations to Simon on such a spectacular event! And I'm looking forward to meeting lots of you at the customer events on Monday – of course I'll be sporting the Today's Special Value watch which you can see on air on Friday 27th November.

If you came to the party I'd love to hear your stories – I hope you had as brilliant a night as I did!

Harald Gloecker And so from one great character to another… Harald Gloecker is back in town on Friday 20th November with his utterly fabulous Pompoos fashion and jewellery designs. I worked with Harald on his very first visit to QVC UK and his enthusiasm and exuberance are infectious. OTT?? Absolutely, but you definitely won't want to miss a single one of his shows!

Speak soon,
Julia. xx.

    Hi Julia
Glad you had a great time at Simon’s party. OOOH I wish I was there. Tried to make it but, with flights from Mallorca and hotel and the party ticket, it would have been a lot to spend just before Christmas.
But I have finished buying all the Christmas presents, and put money a side for Simon’s shows on QVC from the 27th. I will be watching and buying all I can, can’t wait.
And if it is Simon and you together, I am sure we will be saying oh what a night.
    Magda.

    Hi Julia
I was there !!!!!! It was fab I stayed right to the end and even my hubby Eric enjoyed himself. All was going well until my shoe came off and I trod on a piece of glass. A bit of emergency first aid and I was OK – but I guess I will have a lasting reminder (a scar) from the Butler and Wilson Anniversary party. Who else can say that!!!!
    Love Ashley – Surrey

Julia , you look stunning in that dress. I couldn`t get to the party but I was lucky enough to go to the B&W reception at QVC on Monday.
My daughter Sarah and I had a WONDERFUL TIME !!
It was a real pleasure to meet Ali and Renee and yourself and of course , Simon . He is so charming and exactly as he is on air –a real delight to talk too.
Must thank Gemma and all the organisers too , lovely buffet and the beautiful `goody bag` , what a treat. We went up to South Moulton Street afterwards, to round off a very special and memorable experience . Thank you , from Angela

    Hello Magda
Yes it would have been very expensive with the flights etc. SO ……… the money you saved you can treat yourself over the coming weekend!!! The TSV is great – my favourite option is the purple, no suprise there then!! I am with Simon for a lot of the shows so really looking forward to the next few days in QVC land.
    Enjoy

    Hello Josephine
Thanks for the lovely compliments – I don’t know about looking 40 though!! My dress was a Karen Millen one that I bought about a year ago, but I don’t wearing it often as the zip gets stuck in the fabric cos it’s quite thick. Thank goodness my daughter Sophie and Jill Franks were on hand to help – it was very comical!!!
Hope you celebrated your 50th in style???

    Hi Margaret
Again – thanks for the compliment. You are in for a real treat this weekend. The TSV launch Thursday into Friday, shows all day Friday (we’re together at 9 & 10pm ), then Saturday and Sunday as well (again we are doing the 9 & 10pm shows on both days so LOTS of ‘banter’!) It’s the ‘Couture’ show on Sunday and some of the pieces are amazing. Ring in and say Hi!

    Hi Ashley (and Eric)
So sorry to hear about your foot, but as you said, no-one else will have a lasting memory quite like yours!!!! How slippery was all the gold foil that showered down?? I had to hold on to Dale’s arm and shuffle to the carpeted area at the end of the Fashion Show – how spectacular was that???
    Enjoy the weekend

    Hello Audrey
So pleased you managed to get a pic with Simon – one for the album I’m sure! It’s always good to get out and about and meet you all, but the surroundings are not always so glamourous. It might be ‘motherly pride’ but I thought Sophie looked great in her little gold shift dress.
Enjoy all the B & W shows over the coming 4 days

So pleased you enjoyed your day with us ……… have we whet your appetite for the coming weekend?? Simon is a very genuine person and put so much energy into his Fashion Show to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. I hope you managed to get a photo with him?
Enjoy the shows over the next few days, and if you want the TSV watch, remember my prediction is that the purple one will go first.

    Hello Cherry
I was just wondering if your husband knows he has bought you the green bag for Christmas?!?!? Thankyou for your lovely comments – it’s always great fun working with Simon, as some people have commented we are like an old married couple!!
I was just talking to my Mum and she was saying she has her annual ‘check up’ next week. I can’t believe it’s 9 years since she was diagnosed. I hope everything is ok with you? – it really does touch so many people.

Julia I just noticed this blog/ You look absolutely gorgeous in that pink dress. Great charity to have the fund raiser and birthday combo. I think everybody knows someone affected by breast cancer. My Auntie is in the throes of recovering from breast cancer. She is a fairly young woman and I was shocked when I heard. Thankfully she appears to be getting better.
Love Steven Good blog again too xx

    Hi Steven
Just found this post – I hope your Auntie makes a full recovery – both my mum and my sister have just had their check-ups and are in the clear for the moment. Please tell your Auntie about the Breast Cancer Care helpline if she has any questions, or is just feeling low.
    Lots of love to her

Thanks Julia. Appreciate that. I’m sure my Auntie will do too. QVC do a great job in promoting awareness of this terrible illness. Take care

Just found your post – I’m very flattered that you have me as your screensaver!! Hope you had a great Christmas? Mine was a really good family affair – New Year was fun (see my latest blog) but now I’m not too well so not the best start to 2010 I’m afraid. Hopefully I’ll be back on telly soon

    Hi Kenneth
The snow is not funny now is it?? We haven’t had 3 foot, but a good 8 – 10 inches, and I live on a hill so it’s quite difficult getting around!
Thanks for your lovely compliment – it really cheered me up as I’m a bit under the weather (excuse the pun!!) at the moment.

    Hi Julia,
I came from France to be at Simon’s party (it was my 50th birthday present from my husband). I loved the music but yes, the gold tape made it difficult to dance on!
Unfortunately I was unable to see QVC’s footage and I was wondering whether I could see it elsewhere?

Hello Julia, I hope you are well, since i spoke to you last on the air about Michael Schumacher i have seen him 3 times since i told you a was a fan, i still am, i have also written a book for him called Man on the Move, subtitled Michael Schumacher, My Sporting Hero. I am happy i got the book published but feeling sad as not many copies were sold, i only sold 300 out of 1,000. Well that’s life i suppose, all the best have a great year.
