Oh my…OPI!

Hey everyone,

Whilst I've been off your screens for the last couple of weeks I have been doing loads of spring cleaning and decluttering so my poor hands and nails took a bit of a battering. I was thrilled to be asked if I'd like to 'road test' this Wednesday's OPI Today's Special Value.

It is such a fabulous kit..value of course but wow, the colours! It also contains one of my cannot live without beauty products which has transformed my nails and that is Nail Envy. Now I have to shorten my nails because they grow so much!

I took a few piccies to give you a sneak preview of the luscious colours;

032 033 034

Don't you just love them?! In addition to the colours you have lots more to enjoy…my lips should probably remain sealed until the launch of this but I love spilling the beans when I feel really fired up about a particular product. I am looking forward to my hour of OPI on wednesday at midday. Loads of goodies!

I will catch up soon but do let me know, in the meantime, what you think of OPI.

Lots of love,

Catherine x

Hi Catherine, nice to see you back on screen, your nails look brill, I love OPI but I’m not allowed to wear nail polish at work so wear the matt nail envy instead. Hope to catch the show on Wednesday. Take care. Eileen. x

    Hi Catherine
Good to see you back, I did wonder where you were. I watched you on the Bose show last night and thought you looked great in the Susan Graver top. I just knew it would be the TSV and couldn’t wait! You always have lovely nails, I do admire you. Just seeing your photos has given me the push to try again with OPI. So wating too for this TSV! Look forward to seeing you on the show.
    Love Pauline

    Hi Eileen,
Thanks for your lovely message. It’s great to be back. I find the matt envy good as a basecoat, too, as it is a more adherent surface for prolonging a manicure. Great stuff!
Hope you can join us for the show,
    Love Catherine x

    Hello Pauline,
It’s lovely to think I was missed, thank you! The Susan Graver top was just so fab for me, especially just now as I’ve piled on a few pounds over recent weeks.
Kind of you to comment on my nails. I honestly never thought they could grow and be strong like they are now. I’ve tried diferent things before. I have had some great results with Leighton Denny, too, but OPI just seems to have transformed my nails. I wish I’d taken a before shot of them but was embarrassed by them beore!
I hope you get great results, too. Let me know what you think.
    Lots of love,
    Catherine x

Hi Katherine, bet you feel satisfied now the springclean is done! ;0)
As for OPI, it is THE best! Having worked as a beauty therapist (and also used many brands since a teenager), I can honestly say they are head and tails above the rest. The colour range (with fab names) and superior quality of OPI laquer is ‘outstanding’. It does’nt chip, lasts a long time and goes on so well with the ideal brush/lid.
There are other high end brands on the market that I occaisionally use, but even they can chip, dis-colour and are’nt as good, so I always go back to OPI for the quality. I agree Nail Envy is brilliant for growing your nails, I have to file mine down regularly too.
Love the new red..it is so ‘warm’ and has an orange tone, some blue tone reds can be too strong against some skintones. I will be buying a trendy blue laquer for my fingers and that lovely red for my toes this summer!
As I have tweeted to you before…your nails are looking really lovely the last few months and the above photos are proof!
I have recommended OPI to many in the past and STILL swear by it as the colours and quality are absolutely second to none, absolutely love OPI..a real winner! Take care hun x

Hi Catherine just been watching OPI and your nails look absolutely lovely. I am having trouble with peeling and chipping nails and have tried several different things without luck so I have ordered the TSV and hopefully will be able to get decent nails in the future. Watched you on Silver Day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Best wishes Monica.

Sorry to hear you have been having a sad time – I was tuned in to the Dreamkeeper show tonight. You’re such a lovely lady, you deserve only happiness. Regrettably, life hands us all our downs as well as ups! I have been thinking about you and hope your cloud lifts soon. Your family and friends – including your feline babies -are so precious at times like this.

    Hi Derlene,
A happy Easter to you, too. I have tried Leighton Denny’s treatment range too and found it worked really well for me so it’s worth trying different ones out if you find OPI isn’t for you. My mum tried OPI because it worked so fabulously for me but found Pro Strong to be the one that really worked wonders for her.
I guess we’re all different so it’s great QVC stock lots of options but even better that we do the 30 day try and buy policy.
I’d love to know how you get on. I look forward to hearing from you.
    Lots of love,
    Catherine x

    Hi Carol,
Oh how glad I am that the spring cleaning is done! The dieting has been a bit stop start but I am getting back on course again.
I have used a system we sell at QVC called Diet Chef and lost a stone in 2 months so nice, steady, healthy loss and tasty food. Of course I would recommend that as an option but some tips I learned from Paul McKenna’s system years ago have helped a lot to. Things
like chewing food thoroughly, putting your knife and fork down between mouthfuls, really concentrating on what you’re eating and slowing down when you do all help me.
I hope this is helpful. Let me know how you get on and you can always join QVC’s Diet Chef forum to find other diet buddies. I haven’t been on there for a wee while now but must do so soon so I may see you on there!
    Much love,
    Catherine x

    Hi there Heidi!
How great to read your post. Thanks for taking the time to write it. It’s a lot of fun getting to know you on twitter but of course you can only do a sentence at a time so it was lovely to read what you wrote…especially from a pro point of view.
I honestly never EVER thought I’d be showing my own nails as an ‘after’ but am sooo thrilled I gave OPI a try.
I will tweet again soon as you know 😉
    Much love Heidi!

    Hello Monica,
Nice comments, thank you very much for writing in! Silver day was great, loved those bold opaques. For a silver day we had a cornucopia of gemstones!
I hope the Nail Envy works for you like it has for me. I mentioned to someone else that I tried my mum on it but she found Pro Strong suited her better so don’t be put off..30 day money back gurantee so if you need to try something else until you find the right one don’t be afraid to. I personally found it to be my nail saviour, though! Never known anything quite like it. So easy to use and it makes a great base coat once your nails have improved and you want to have some fab colours on them.
I really would love to know how you get on..use religiously and hopefully you’ll be giving me a glowing report in no time!
    Love Catherine x

    Hi Marian,
Thank you for your kind words. Yes it has been a very tough time. I am planning to write a blog very soon actually. I lost a very dear friend but I am being very positive and thinking of all the good memories even though it was quite a blow to say the least.
It’s very thoughtful of you to have picked up on that and taken the time to write here, too. You’ve no idea how touching that is and I genuinely, wholeheartedly thank you again.
I hope you had a wonderful Easter.
    Much fond love,

    Hi Cathrine,
Just wanted to say that I think you have lovely hands and nails. You obviously look after them. I guess you have to with all the closeups on QVC!
I must admit that I much prefer the natural look so I think that you look great with clear nail polish. I hope you will wear clear polish for me more often.
Thanks for the photos – would love you to post more!
    Cheers, K.

    Hi Keith,
Thanks for your comments about my nails…I’ve got a bit behind in my replies, I’m afraid!
I love experimenting with different colours but I mostly wear the more natural and neutral tones as they go with any outfits.
I hope youare getting some of the lovely sunshine we’e enjoying just now.
    Take care,

    Hi Catherine
As my favourite presenter, I’d like my nails to look as good as yours. I do all the right things, use Nail Envy as instructed, oil my cuticles, use handcream regularly but still one of them splits from the top down so I have to keep it short. Are you using some other magic potion that you’re keeping to yourself? Seeing them now, I can’t imagine that they have ever been anything other than beautiful so I think its only fair you reveal all!
    Regards Sue

    Hi Sue,
Thanks very much for your kind comments about my nails!
Sorry to hear you are having that splitting problem. My mum gets that same problem sometimes. It does sound like you are doing all the right things.
The advice I’d give is to use a fibreglass wrap on the split nail in order to hold it together whilst it grows out. OPI do a kit..227723..which I use when I have a break or split. 30 day money back guarantee..give it a go. Alternatively you could go to a professional nail technician and ask them to apply a fibreglass wrap for you. I would advise looking for an OPI/Nails Inc/Leighton Denny/Creative Nails trained technician rather than one of these express nail bars…worth getting someone who will take the time and treat your nails with extra care.
The next piece of advice is to try one of our other nail strengthening kits. I swear by Nail Envy but my mum found Pro Strong to be the one which helped her but we have quite a few different ones you can try. It may just be that something else suits you better.
Gently buffing the nails in order to make the ‘ledge’ of the split more flush with the rest of the nail could also be beneficial and prevent catching and further tearing/splitting if you see what I mean? Don’t over buff..wish you were here as I could just do it for you, hee hee. Again, if in doubt, go along to a professional to perform the service for you and advise you how to maintain this at home.
My little ‘secret’ isn’t such a secret as I do mention it a lot. Seche Vite top coat! I can’t praise it enough…it’s applied in a very thick layer and creates the look you’d get with gel overlays and provides some of the same reinforcement that an overlay will. It dries superfast and becomes like an armour shield for the nails. I would never be without it as a professional nail technician. It’s award winning, too. Shop around by all means as we’re very proud of QVC’s price. We do it as a duo for almost the price some chemists sell a single bottle! I order in bulk!
I recently tried some pink gel strengthener whilst on air and it sold out before I could get my order in. It gave a lovely look and had rave reviews. I’m going to order it if it’s in stock today. I’m always open to trying new things as we have such a great selection to choose from.
I hope this helps, Sue. Please let me know how you get on. Sounds like you’re doing all the right things with regard to hydration and keeping the nails short so I’ll keep my fingers (and nails!)crossed for you.
    Love Catherine x

    Hi Catherine
Thank you so much for this information. I’m having a bit of a panic because we’re off to Las Vegas in 3 weeks and I really did think my nails would be looking good by then, I even bought some new OPI nail polish from QVC in anticipation – how wrong was I, so, I cut them all down yesterday and am going to start again. Looking at them today, I’m not sure whether the Nail Envy is causing the problem by drying them out because my nails have always been soft but I’ve never had a problem with them splitting from the tip down. I’ve just started using Leighton Denny’s Replenish which seems to help get rid of the ridges but I really don’t know if that is just a short term fix or whether it will help permanently. All in all I’m really fed up with them and today they are a disgrace. Hope all is well with you, out of all the presenters I love watching you the most as you always come across as being a very gentle, caring lady who gives people time to speak without being ‘in your face’. Keep up the good work and thanks again for the advice about my nails. I’ll let you know how I get on. Regards Sue x
