Oh, if only I’d listened…

Pipa's dog Tynor … I could have saved my Centigrade coat!

I nipped out to the shops this weekend with the children and left my brand-new Centigrade mac hanging on the banister. I only bought it about 3 weeks ago and LOVE IT!!

Our gorgeous dog can be a bit of a chewing monster at times – in fact as a puppy he ate half the garden table!! But these days, a little more sedate, it tends to be just the odd soft toy or slipper.

As I walked to the front door, I looked at my coat and the little voice inside my head said, "he’ll eat it!" and the big voice that gets to speak out loud said, "don’t be daft!" Oh if only I’d listened!!

… an hour or so later I came home to find a Jurassic Park-style tear down one arm as he had tried to take it from the bannister – GUTTED!!!! Oh that small voice inside my head, if only I'd listened to you!!

Yes Tynor, you may well look sheepish!!!!!

Oh you’re so right Marg – I couldn’t be angry with him for a second.. more angry at myself for leaving it there! He can’t help wanting to play! It’s funny as all dog owners know, they are one of the family – every evening at 9pm on the dot, he jumps up from his bed as if an alarm clock has just gone off and comes to sit on my lap on the sofa – if I’m not there, he doesn’t do it – and if I am there, heaven forbid if my laptop is on my lap or if something is obstructing his path!!! He gets most disgruntled and just sits and stares at me until I put it away ready for him to spring on me like an overgrown baby! I love it!!!!
