Northern Nights guest Susie Adams shares her TSV tips

New Susie Adams pic with TSV resized Springtime has finally arrived and we can't wait to give our bedrooms a colourful makeover to greet the season. Northern Nights guest Susie Adams explains how to mix and match the Today's Special Value six-piece duvet set to create your own individual look!

Tell us a little about Today's Special Value.

Well you are going to love this if you are looking to inject a combination of colour and a classical Persian (or as we are more familiar with, paisley) design into your bedroom. It comes in White, Sesame, new Yellow and new Blue which will whisk you away to the sultry nights of Marrakesh, and turn your room into the colours of the summer. Plus, it makes a great wedding or birthday present too.

How would we dress our bedroom to match the Today's Special Value?

We have combined a classical paisley teardrop jacquard with a sateen finish to give you the perfect combination of light and shade, texture and sheer luxury and sophistication. Add your own accessories – a new lampshade, a throw or a coloured glass vase and you will have created the perfect summer bedroom.

Tell us a little about the Persian jacquard print.

This design has its roots in Persia and India. In the 1800s these stunning designs were brought by soldiers to Paisley in Scotland, where they were woven into the glamorous teardrop design we know today. We see them woven with silver and gold threads on sari’s, shawls and household textiles.

What are the benefits of having 400 thread count cotton sheets?

Luxury, luxury and even more luxury. Superior yarns with 400 threads per inch will give you long-lasting linens that have the feel of a first-class hotel.  Our luxurious 100% soft durable cotton will be cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

I have several Northern Nights sets and am extremely happy with them, however, I must be the only old fashioned bed dresser in the country!! as I also use a flat sheet under my duvet. Hi Susie, I have a featherbed the down on top uncrushable featherbed. can you tell me why I get a raised ridge down the middle of the bed, and what is the best way to avoid this from happening. Regards Jean.

I too am old fashioned regarding dressing beds using a sheet under a duvet. Please Susie, do your best to organize separate flat sheets for us trendy old fashioned girls. By the way, I love to watch your demonstrations. Keep up the good work. Kindest regards, Lesley

    Hi Susie
I love all the Northern nights range but have been unable to purchase any of your duvet sets as I have a king size quilt on a double bed. Have you any plans to just do a set with a quilt cover and pillow cases and then a matching set of bed linen (a fitted sheet.flat sheet and pillow cases) as I also like to have a flat sheet under my duvet.

    Hi Susie.
I just need to buy some (two per pack) of deep pocketed fitted sheets in DOUBLE and SINGLE sizes, in a nice high thread count, say 400 tc.
I keep going on the Internet site and CANNOT get any. I do not NEED any more pillowcases, and it seems you always have to buy pillow cases as well? The only colours available in the one you see in there are MOSS and CORNFLOWER. I’m sure you’d sell LOADS more if you just did sets of 2 fitted bottom sheets…in all different colours. These could be staple items you could perhaps keep always in stock as folks never seem to have enough bottom sheets.
Please can you advise Suzie? Many thanks and best wishes.

I’d go a little further on that last comment.
I too use a flat sheet and a fitted sheet. Easier than washing duvet covers every week!
Have you considered providing some traditional bedding sets without the duvet cover, the high end thread counts please?
My husband and I have different body thermostats so need different tog rated duvets. The way we deal with this is to have separate single duvets on our super king bed. Most of your packages include the duvet cover. I look at most TSV’s and would love to buy them, but..
I’d love to buy duvet covers on their own, or double packs of single duvets and flat, fitted and pillow case sets. I’m sure I’m not the only one using this kind of solution.

    Hi Susie,
Love your shows and the Northern Nights bedding. One request please, when telling us about a set can you let us know, if it has a pattern you can actually feel – eg: Raised through texture or not ? I really do not like the underside of the duvet cover, or sheet to have, or to feel a raised pattern on it.
Today, have bought the TSV in sesame, hopefully i will not be able to feel a pattern, sorry if this sounds way to fussy :)
    Thanks in advance.

    Dear Suzy
I have had a feather bed for some time and absolutely love it. Its the older type with no channels, so you have to shake it up. However, nearly two years ago I had a car accident and suffered a bad whiplash injury and although I feel a lot better and my featherbed has certainly helped, I wonder which type would now be the best for me and also pillows as I am not supposed to have a very high pillow as I have a short neck and this makes the sciatica flare up. Any advice would be appreciated so I get the right equipment for my neck, back and shoulders. I am still going to the physio and have told him how good they are too! Kind Regards, Jackie Bissell, Paignton.

    Hello Jean
If there are two of you sharing the featherbed, then over time you will have both made your imprint on each side therefore, there could be a ridge in the middle. What i do once a week is turn the featherbed over and give it a really good shake to plump up the boxes, and return it to the down side up. I hope this will be of help to you, and you will continue to have a fluffy featherbed.

    Hello Lesley
Thank you for your lovely comments, there is no such thing as old fashioned, i call that traditional and very practical. I will put your request forward to the buying team.

    Hi Denise
Many viewers have had the upsized quilt on a smaller divan problem, therefore northern nights design deep pocketed fitted sheets with elastic around the edges with this problem in mind. Therefore, you can purchase your king size in the knowledge that this will not be an issue.
We have duvet and pillow case only sets already in our range. Please take a look though the range and i hope you will find something that suits your needs.
    best wishes

    Hello Rhona
Life is full of funny stories and thank goodness for that. If you speak to liverpool i am sure that they could forward your email to our buying office here in london and i would be happy to discuss any concerns you have regarding your health and buying our products. I love bringing this range to all our viewers and i am glad you both enjoy the shows.
Best wishes to you and your hubby.

    Hello Jackie,
I can empathise with you regarding your whiplash as i have been in the same situation, and therefore understand the necessity of finding the right kind of support. Maybe a down on top featherbed would give you the support but also the adjustability of the down to cradle your entire body. I would also suggest a down around gusset pillow to do the same for your neck.
Please take the time to look after yourself whilst you are recuperating.
    Best wishes

    Hello Christine
When it comes to bedding one can never be ‘to fussy’. Thank you for your lovely comments. I have made a mental note in the future to explain what the fabrics will feel like. This weeks TSV should feel wonderfully smooth against your skin. I really hope that you will enjoy it when you ‘glide’ into bed. Please let me know how you get on with it.
    enjoy :]

    Hello Wendy F
Thank you for your comments, I will send these on to the buying department, as i have said before we are in constant development, and we hope to find solutions for all our customers. This week we launched a new dual warmth duvet Item Number 830608. This could be the solution to your different sleeping needs, as half of the duvet has more down fill than the other, to ensure one of you stays nice and snuggly and the other
nice a cool. Keep tuning in as we constantly have new products.
Have a lovely weekend to both of you.

Will leave a review soon as it is washed.
Once again thank you for being at QVC.

    Hi Susie,
Is there any chance Northern Nights will introduce a range of strong, rich, solid colours such as dark greens, blues, deep reds, etc., into the bedding range as most of the available colours are either neutrals or seem geared towards the more feminine colours and ignore that we men like our comforts in bed too and do indeed actually purchase bedding and household products. The recent TSV Paisley would have looked amazing in these vibrant colours.

Hi Suzi i hope you can help. I am looking to buy a Northern Nights duvet set. I always watch your shows and when a duvet set comes on i look up the reviews first and have in the past been put off by the negative reviews. Am looking to but an ivory set and green but have had ivory before and is too yellow, will you be doing sets in the future that are more cream not with a hint of yellow ? Also the sage green is i think would be too dark would want a soft pastel green ? Would love to have them in the leopard print ? Also will you be doing more in cerise pink ?Hope you can help.

Hi Susie, I have a northern night feather bed and I know it says to dry clean it but is it possible to wash it as my cousins baby was sick on it and it still smells? I would take it to the laundrette of course.

    Hi Susie,
Please can Northern Nights to a bath robe with a hood. It is cosy and helps warm me up after a shower, warms the head. I realy need a new robe mines cheap and coming to pieces but I never see a cotton one with a-hood. I feel the drying power of NN towels in a hood robe, also it’s cosy esp in older homes with drafts and helps prevent me turning the heating up. I do enjoy your shows and learn alot, you worked well with Simon Biagi, although still miss Antony Heywood.

    Hi Susie,
I would be really grateful if you could give me some advise on which Northern Nights pillows I should buy please?
I have Parkinson’s Disease & due to this I have a lot of neck problems. I’m mostly a back sleeper, a lot of Parkinson’s sufferers have difficulty turning in bed! I have neck stiffness plus am now getting very stooped,if ou understand what I mean? Due to this I require a fairly high pillow to get comfortable to sleep.
I hope this reaches you as your product knowledge is excellent. I look forward to hearing from you regarding my query. I had a look on the website & the two pillows that caught my eye are the curved form, item no:802816 & the feather flex no:802211.
    Yours sincerely,
    Christ Snowden.

Hi Susie , I wonder if you could help me please? I have just rung customer service to ask for help, and all the lady told me was that my Duck Feather and Down topper, had just run out of warranty and that nothing can be done. She also said that the topper had to be shaken, which my husband has done, as I cannot hold it.There are no feathers in the middle to shake, they seemed to have disappeared, the feathers are stitched in diamonds so they can’t go far. I purchased two toppers , as I have Multiple Sclerosis, and have ordered many Northern Night toppers. I knew that they would help with the pain. I thought that the toppers would last longer than seven months, usually Northern Nights are such a good product and have a very good name. So Susie can you help me please. Many Thanks Jan .
