It was lovely having our belated catch-up with my two fabulous kids Brad and Lauren this week, at ‘Binghams’ in Richmond –more below. And as promised, here’s the skincare focus! Last week I had a ‘finished-it-Friday’ (although the word ‘Friday’ went awol!) event, featuring two empty bottles from the superb Elemis Biotec range, which really suits my skin well. This week, I have super news about a relative newcomer brand, NIOD, and a really original prescriptive product’s return… Plus the usual sneaky peeks and a brilliant blooper – see below!
Skincare Focus 1 – NIOD
NIOD is returning to our screens on Sunday with me and lovely Nicola, with a brand that’s been one of your faves since its impressive debut at January’s Beauty Bash. (By the way, no Beauty Bash this year, other special treats instead, whilst its undergoing a revamp and may return in future years.) Go here to see the full range and explore the products in advance of my Sunday (18th) 3pm show.
What’s really impressed me about NIOD (Non-Invasive Options in Dermal Science) is their philosophy on great ingredients with a fresh approach to the whole layering concept. As you will hear me say on-air on Sunday, their iconic first two steps – the copper peptide serum and the hyaluronic serum can be slotted into any other routine, and follows in the big trend of the moment : multi-layering, a la Korean influence. Do go here to get one of the best sellers – 216766 – it’s a three-piece set, including those two items plus the hydration vaccine as a top layer! Great value. It’s very popular, here’s one customer’s review;
“I’m a NIOD convert. I’m a science nerd anyway and this hits all my buttons – science, new tech, great skincare, affordable and easy to use. My skin is clear, feels comfortable rather than tight and dry and looks refreshed and healthy.
I adore the copper and hyaluronic formulations as they are thin, lightweight and apply quickly and easily. The hydration vaccine is superb. It is like a natural primer and goes on so smoothly and beautifully. I love the texture and feel of it. As a person with very dry skin, this is a real treat and is like a turbo-charged hydrafloral for those who like Decleor”
And here’s what one reviewer says on our website about their Neck Elasticity Catalyst;
“The difference is truly mind-blowing. My skin is soft and supple and although the lines are still there on my chest, the improvement truly is impressive. I cannot rave enough and would give 20 stars if I could. My self-esteem has had a massive lift “
They really are pioneering a next-generation beauty. And to get ahead of the curve – like they are doing, buy their £50 discovery set early, as I fear it won’t last long once it goes to air – the value is extraordinary, containing four of their key items, and some full or half sizes – it’s not tiny! Watch out for it on Sunday at 3pm.
Skincare Focus 2 – Bio-Extracts Returning next week, you can see the latest on air demo here – and find out more about this clever prescriptive range, brought to QVC recently to great accord. It’s 218804 and you can also see the links to the extra customisable vials you can use for firming, lifting, hydro and anti-wrinkle – more or less of exactly what you want, add as needed! One of the three 5-star reviews for the main set (218804) says they saw it featured in Grazia magazine and bought it from us, and another says –
“I have finally found my skincare! This is truly amazing, the products work magic on my skin. It feels lifted and really refreshed. The moisturiser is really different, my skin now feels looked after and the make-up also looks much better.”
So if you want a great value choice, with dosage tailored to your needs, this might be a good idea!
Brad Lauren Nick and Me Had a lovely get together at a super restaurant called ‘Binghams’ in Richmond with my kids and gang this week. It was a belated birthday celebration for Lauren’s 27th, which happened whilst they were away. She posted some lovely pics and videos from their gorgeous hol in Tuscany – made me well jell! The restaurant we went to was very nice, right on the river, and the food delicious, albeit a bit nouvelle cuisine! Next birthday is Brad’s – in March – he will be 30. How is that even possible?!
Early Flowering Guess which plants these are? If you’re not a regular and didn’t see the little video I did when I planted them, have a bash at guessing what will be growing underneath? PS the flattened bit is the work of you-know-who.
Luna Bouquet Yes, it was madam, here! Following on from Patch and peonies last week, here’s Crazy Spaniel with this week’s blooms from the garden, mostly roses – they’re flowering again! And she’s now gone home, whooohooooo.
Sans Spaniel So the spaniels went home – finally! – When Lolly and Nick got back. Phew! It made me appreciative of my placid flabradors, that’s for sure! I posted this funny update from my vlog collection this week (click on this link and ‘like’ the page to see future ones) and many people giggled at the way I was being pulled along! Once again, am soooo glad the terrible two have gone home! Lol. I do miss them however. But Lauren was over the moon to be with her ‘fur babies’ again!
How are Derek the Medical Detection Dog trainee and Lesley doing? Sticking with pooches, two new posts are now on my website where you can read the super updates I get regularly from MDD about the two little sponsor dogs – my fundraising efforts allowed me to name them after my mum and late dad! Am honesty so proud! go here for news about Derek and for Lesley go here . More updates are in the archives along with brilliant tales about the clever canines, which help humans – they can all be found on my MDD web page here.
Remember This? So what was your fave? Mine was Cream Soda. Memories of having a radioactive tongue from the red cherryade! And later, Dandelion and Burdock? What was yours? in the days before we knew how awful some of these additives are!
Decorated Dorking There are some fabulously eccentric people living in my home town – if you’ve ever seen the ten foot steel cockerel on the main roundabout dressed in Christmas gear, you’ll know what I mean! Well they’ve struck again with this cute adornment on the trees and benches opposite Waitrose – love it! Why is it there? No idea! Just love it!
Book of the Week ‘Please Don’t Stop the Music’ by Jane Lovering – she writes a witty tale, so I’ve started listening to another by her on audiobook – more here on my Read it Write it Sell it blog on my website – plus info about the York writing festival. AND how to join me on the next Julie Cohen writing retreat for writers in Bristol in March!
Newsletter – with best blooper ever featuring a naughty wordspeller from one of my shows about a decade ago! Go here! And how insiders in the sugar industry paid experts to divert attention to saturated fat – if only they’d pinned it on sugar way back then, eh?
BLOOPER – Charlie was very funny this week – as usual! Check out this clip of his mishap with a mannequin, and watch the reaction from Jenny from Together fashions! lolol. Gotta luv The Brook!
Facebook Funny – a bookish one for you! Funny! Imagine if you saw actual book stickers like this!
Watch – X Factor is back! There’s a superb song by a young girl who performed ‘With You’ at the end of one of the shows recently – OMG it’s great. If I could get it as a single I would! Double helpings for the next few weeks, and I always watch it on catch up.
This week’s highlights –
– Saturday – one of my best purchases EVER – and one I use nearly every day – the Cooks Essentials Air Fryer returns as the Today’s Special Value – launching Friday night midnight – with a 2.5L capacity – it’s a small oven, basically, and so versatile – for everything! Highly recommended.
– Sunday – the big Bareminerals Today’s Special Value is very special for our big Beauty Day – and is featuring the fabulous complexion rescue plus some of their iconic basics – join me on Sunday at 4pm. (18th – just after the NIOD show!)
– Tuesday – lovely fashionista Antthony is back! I’ll be missing his TSV shows but it’ll be lovely to see him again (I have appointments I can’t miss during the day but am sure his latest deal will fly out as usual!) Do look up his new clearance offerings in advance of his shows on Tuesday.
From Monday there’ll be a fab Decleor mini series running across three nights, I’m on Tuesday’s – and meanwhile, here’s a Last Clicks offer on their sun products at just £16 or so (208393) and also for the last of the stock of the popular discovery set 4 pc travel essentials 218593 which has a full 30ml of the famous hydrafloral face cream amongst others and a bag! Brilliant value!
PSSST! Kim and Co one-show-only type deal on Thursday night at 11pm – maybe? A little bird told me!

PPS – HERE’S another fab post from my Till the Fat Lady Slims book plus support group online –
Louise R (one of our group’s active members, doing very well!) – “This book will change your life! It’s written by someone who really understands what it means to be out of control with eating. It’s simplified my life. No more calorie counting or long list of things I can’t have. Food no longer controls me or my life. Best of all it’s such a simple concept to follow. Take the plunge you won’t regret it!”
Fabulous news isn’t it, from yet more ladies finding the support from TTFLS and Freedom Eating is really helping on their weight loss journey. I say to anyone who wants to give it a try, to read ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet’ book first, which is like the one which sold out in signed hardback on QVC last year. Plus book 3.0 with more tips and tales to inspire. The whole picture and links are here on my webpage.
