Many of them, I’m sure, will involve fixing up that spare bedroom, bathroom or kitchen. Mine is the same but different! I will be doing lots of DIY, but not at home… at QVC!
The DIY show is changing a bit. Previously, it was always on a Sunday morning at about 9am or 10am, now it will be on Saturday at 1pm so that our guests can take their kids to football matches etc sometimes.
We will do two Saturdays on and two Saturdays off. We then have shows on the 2nd Feb, 9th Feb, 2nd March (2 hour show), 9th March and so on. We will have some shows on Sundays occasionally too, so there will be a lot of hammering, painting and fixing up!
It’s funny how things go full circle because it always seems to be DIY that I end up presenting on TV (probably because it’s my hobby and I love it). Do you remember the series for the BBC called ‘Real Rooms’? I did about 350 of those, fixing up bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens all over the country but also the odd oil rig room and aircraft carrier room too!
I’ve done quite a few other DIY shows too, but of my favourites was ‘The Real DIY Show’ for Tyne Tees TV. The house owners (Dave and Gaynor) moved out for about 4-5 months whilst we trashed their home and then fixed it up without letting them see it!
They must have had faith! ‘Real Rooms’ must have started over 15 years ago and ‘The Real DIY Show’ was about 11 years ago – doesn’t time fly! The pictures prove that – look no grey hair!!
I’m looking forward to starting on 12th January at 1pm so join us if you can. I’ll be posting more details soon.
