New homes for mum and ‘Baby’

19

Dinky and Baby Well, if you read my recent blog about a 'possible' cat number four I can now confirm it's official!

Last week we welcomed 'Babybelle' to the fold - we call her Baby. She is a beautiful Maine Coon so has silky soft long fur and a lovely gentle temperament, like our other three. Pixie and Popsie appear to have become more 'grown up' since kitten Dinky's arrival so he's thrilled to have Baby to play with.

As you can see in the photo above they love spending time together. When they curl up to sleep together you can barely see him as he hides under Baby's fluffy tail!

Feeding time The reason for this new addition is that my mum also moved to her new home to be closer to me but they don't allow pets there. She is now only 20 minutes down the road from me. I'm so glad as it's also on my way to and from work so very easy for me to drop in regularly.

It's a real luxury as, when she was in Cornwall, we could easily go months without seeing each other. Of course, it also means she can see Baby whenever she likes and we have a willing cat/house-sitter!

Whose bed is it anyway?! How many pets do you have? Christine Brooks, who commented on my last pet-related blog, has 11 dogs! That's a lot of poop scooping!

On that note I saw a device at the local pet shop called 'Litter Kwitter' – a toilet seat attachment to train cats to use a loo! Has anyone tried this? Please share!

Catherine xx

    Hiya Catherine
Wow! How cute are all your kitties?! Bless ‘em.
I hope your mum has settled into her new home, and isn’t missing Baby too much. It must have been a big decision for her, but it’s great she is so close to you now, I’m sure.
We adopted a stray kitten in March 2008 – a few days before my birthday! Her name is Pussy Willow. She is a dark grey and white tuxedo cat. Willow has had 8 eye operations to date, and we weren’t wise enough to take out Pet Insurance …….. eek!
Lately I have noticed a tiny tabby cat lurking around our garden, and this evening I was able to pet it and give it some food. It seemed both hungry and thirsty. I don’t know how to introduce the kitty to Willow (who is now a year & 3 mths, and very shy/nervous, due to being mistreated in her past). Any ideas are welcome. Thanks.
Oh, and if you’ve any ideas on how to persuade my hubby that Willow needs a furry brother or sister, those ideas are welcome too!!!!! Cheers :-)
Well Catherine, I’d better sign off for now. I hadn’t intended to write so much! Please do keep up the good work showing us your pussems’. Catherine, thanks for sharing – it’s purrfectly wonderful! I love to see and hear about them.
    Julie
P.S. I have considered the cat loo-seat too! Ain’t been brave enough to try one yet though …….

Oh Catherine I’m even more jeolous now you’ve got another beautiful cat Babybelle – she looks like she has really settled in and Dinky has a fab playmate. I couldn’t believe it the other day my husband Don actually mentioned getting another cat!!!! hoorah – will keep you posted as to who joins the Beverley household to join our Bella Bubba. Love the pictures – four gorgeous cats on your bed – they are sooooooooo cute.

Hi Catherine – Just wanted to say how gorgeous your new Maine Coon kitty is. I too love cats and have two cats – one is a cream/red Maine Coon called Phoenix and Roonie is a ginger cat who resembles Garfield. I did have another Maine Coon called Chaz who unfortunately was hit by a car a couple of weeks ago – I miss him dreadfully but what I wanted to say is Maine Coons are the most gentle and kind cats you could wish to own with sweet personalities. Wishing you lots of good times with your cats . Love Suzanne x

My daughter bought a Litter Kwitter for her two cats, one of whom is a Maine Coon. I laughed a lot when she told me she was going to toilet train them. However, the last time I visited her I was amazed to see it in use. You just have to remember to leave the loo door open !! Saves a fortune on litter.

Hi Catherine – how on earth did you introduce anothet cat without them all fighting? My (female) cat won’t tolerate another cat anywhere in her territory and I’d love another one.

    Hi, Catherine!
    Four cats!! :D
You’ll have to come and visit us on Hubbell Bubbell Cat Chat Forum as you’re now well on the way to being a ‘mad cat woman’!
I have five cats – two chocolate-point Siamese, a red-point Siamese, a very naughty Black Oriental and a pretty tortie Moggle – I’d *love* a Maine Coon, but the self-styled ‘head of the herd’ (my husband) is adamant that the feline family is complete! :(
I’ve not tried the Litter Kwitter, but I’d be interested to read how you and others get on with it!
So glad your Mum is settled nice and near you – and very much enjoy reading your blog and hearing news about your cats, especially when you’re on QVC with the Divine Bibby!
    love
    Christina xx

Oh Catherine, your new Maine Coon is gorgeous. Apparently they can be referred to as ‘the tail with a cat at the end’ and I can see why! We have two (only 7 months old), one a humongous red mackerel tabby called Dylan who is a soft lovable lump, and his brown tortie tabby sister Saska a real sweetie – and they have the most wonderful natures, fabulous coats and tails and gorgeous chirpy miaows – you are just going to adore having Baby around. I must definitely be in the running for mad cat woman because we are also slaves to 6 Ragdolls …
I’m addicted to rubber stamping so love watching your craft shows – the cards need to be pretty large now though considering we add all 8 cats to the signatures: Pandora, Delilah, Blaze Boy, Bosie, Viennetta, Moser, Dylan & Saska!! Purrs and cuddles from mine to yours, Sarah x

hello Catherine and everyone, I am settling in well in my new home and, although I do miss my BabyBelle, I am very glad that she has dinky ,Pixie and Popsie for company and playmates. I think she found me a bit boring ,At 74 years old I would get tired of playing before she did!
But the nice thing is that I can still visit her and she will not forget me. Catherine,s mum Barbara

    Hi Catherine…………and mum
Its lovely to read about your cats on the blog. I have never commented before on anyones QVC blog, but yours is so friendly. I have been breeding maine coons for 15yrs now( a couple of years longer than i have been a QVC customer!) so you dont need to tell me how sweet BabyBelle is :D
The cats all look so happy on your bed. I hope you have many happy years with your feline family.

Wow, so many lovely messages! Thanks to all of you. I really enjoy reading about you and your cats, too. One of the first things I do when I get home in switch on the laptop and check to see what you have to say. I’ve been so busy over the past few days so haven’t been able to keep up.
    Keep ‘em coming!
Those who asked how I integrated the new cats with the ‘originals’…we made sure it was really peaceful for them and went in tiny stages. Brought the new ones into the lounge inside the carrier and waited a bit before opening the door and so on. I think we’ve been very lucky as it only took a day or two with each of them. Popsie (the biggest, roundest one) did take a while to ‘deflate’ after puffing up like a puffa fish and I did giggle but obviously didn’t let her hear me, hee hee.
    Love Catherine x
    PS. Hi Mum!!

    Hi Catherine
I just had to write and say how lovely your cats are!It is so lovely that your Mum can see Baby.
I had four cats but sadly lost two. So now have a lovely 18 year old ginger cat called Charly and a beautiful 9 year old Tortie called Suzy. They love each other very much and also their doggy brother Benjy who is a tan and white Sheltie.
Well done on integrating the cats so well and you did exactly the right thing. I know what you mean about the puffa fish look! Ha ha.
Cats are wonderful creatures and make a house a home.
Hugs to them all. And to you of course!
