As I sit here writing, there is a gorgeous smell of chocolate cake wafting through from the kitchen. Today is my daughter, Sophie’s, 28th birthday. I’ve read somewhere that our lives go in seven-year cycles and, if that’s true, she is beginning a new phase in her life and what a way to start… she has just accepted an offer for a new job.
I’m hoping this is a sign of great things to come. We will be going out for a birthday dinner tonight when we are both home from work, a rare treat for me as I no longer go out much in the evenings because of feeling tired from my medication. By the way, I had my latest blood tests done yesterday so I should have the results by the end of the month – fingers crossed everything is still moving in the right direction.
So, as promised in the PS on last week’s blog, I have a competition today to win a Lulu Guinness bag. It isn’t brand spanking new but almost! It’s been with me on two occasions to the Royal Albert Hall. The first was to watch the International Dance Championships as a guest of British Polio and the second, funnily enough, was on Sophie’s birthday two years ago when we went to watch Cirque du Soleil.
Because I don’t go out much any more, I thought it would be nice to pass my bag on to someone who will make more use of it. The bag, a large PollyAnna in black cherry patent leather is a Most Wished For item on our website and brand new would cost £325. If you would like a chance to win it you need to comment on the blog below with the answer to this question:
In which year was Lulu Guinness awarded her OBE? Was it:-
The competition closes at midnight on Thursday 14th and I’ll announce the randomly selected winner on here next Friday. Good luck!
Well, everything is pretty much back to normal for us after Christmas and the New Year. I managed to get some writing done on the third book in the Liberty Sands trilogy on Monday and Tuesday… 6,000 words now, only another 74,000 to go! Wednesday was a ‘write-off’ unfortunately as I had to go to the dentist for the preparation work for the new crown I need.
I also had to have another crown ‘stuck’ back on after losing it to a peanut last Sunday!! While I was having my teeth drilled some of you may have been reading a guest blog I wrote for a book blog called Linda’s Book Bag. If you didn’t see it you can link to it here.
I forgot to mention on last week’s blog that I have been chosen to be a calendar ‘girl’. The company that prints the paperback copies of my books for our website and Amazon is called Ingram Spark and they selected their twelve most popular authors to feature in their 2016 calendar – I was well chuffed.
Incidentally, if you are at the Beauty Bash for the afternoon session on Tuesday 19th do feel free to bring your books along to be signed or personalised if you bought a signed copy of ‘Life’s a Beach and Then…’ through QVC. I’m there with Debs Flint and I’m sure she will also be happy to sign books.
As it happens, the 19th is also Chris and my 38th anniversary of living together … is it a Leap Year this year????!!!
I was back on air at QVC yesterday after my seven-day break. One of my shows was Spotlight on Italian Jewellery, which prompts me to remind you that the new series of Spotlight on Jewellery starts on Friday 29th January at 6pm. I’m pretty sure we will be featuring ear climber earrings at some point in the series as they are one of the hottest trends. If you haven’t seen the style and how you wear them take a look at this current jewellery icon:-
I have lots of great shows this coming week; Cozee Home tomorrow at 6pm, Radley on Sunday at 4pm, EMU Monday at 4pm (including the Today’s Special Value if it’s still around, pictured below) and both Dennis Basso and Ralph Rossini with Honora pearls at 5 and 6pm respectively on Wednesday.
Today’s Fashion on Friday is a Kim & Co outlet with lovely Carla Lazlo but I’ll also see you at 3pm for Household Helpers.
Must dash, I’ve got a cake to ice before I leave for work! Have a great weekend.
