New beauty for November

CODE Beautiful VLM Mascara - 204680It's getting ever closer to Christmas, and if you're stuck for ideas, we have some fabulous new beauty coming up this month. Here's a little peek at what you can look forward to – make sure you check back as there's more to come!

Code VLM
Code VLM is a volumising, lengthening mascara and has been creating a real buzz in the industry – and it's coming to QVC! Yet another mascara? But do not fear it has it's own unique benefits, it has a clever hybrid brush that gets both the base of the lash like a skinny brush mascara, but also the length like a thick brush.

For me CODE VLM makes your lashes look real, but longer, and as it doesn't clump you look like you have lash inserts rather than waxy mascara on them and they can be built up easily – a must for anyone who doesn't like waxy, clumpy build-up or obviously made-up lashes.

It's the best thing I have come across as the alternative to lash inserts, people will say "It's alright for you, you don't need mascara" when you have this on – a great fake natural beauty trick for the famous 'natural' look!!

Stila CC Colour Correcting Cream - 204927Stila CC Cream

Stila CC cream is the first of its type to impress me. Normally these hybrids only work on young skin and compromise an older customer's make-up and skincare routine – but not this one.

It is perhaps even easier to use than a BB cream with a more sophisticated skin improving finish, blurring the look of discolouration while making your skin look amazingly smooth.

The CC cream has good hydration which you can feel immediately the cream/gel hits the skin, and it doesn't peel or dry out. Obviously this, as with any CC or BB cream will never give the look or cover of a foundation but you can definitely see an improvement in the appearance of your skin.

You can of course add a concealer if required. It's a great on-the-go product for fresh faced, natural days and a good one for men and non-make-up wearers as you look better but not detectably made up. I still would use my morning routine of serums and moisturiser first, but wouldn't feel too guilty if I needed a quick grab and run product!

OPI In My Santa Suit Collection - 204538OPI In My Santa Suit Trio
Fancy something different on your nails this season? If you want to combine fashionable with wearable so you look groomed and stylish, then this is the trio for you. With Limited Edition Mariah Carey colours, it includes, for me, the must-own colour of the season – My Favourite Ornament.

It's like a diamond encrusted nail with flashes of gold and silver so will go with any jewellery. I love it on all my nails but try as a finger accent for a modern twist.

Sleigh Ride For Two is the new plum with a dark metallic high-shine finish, very chic and sophisticated and it will look just as good on short groomed nails as well as long. Finally In My Santa Suit is as glossy as a red can get with a metallic wet-look, shiny finish – it's as bright as a Christmas bauble.

They are all wearable so no fashion mistakes here, which means they will look good for day wear and work, not just for the odd party – plus you can get value for money out of them for many months to come. They look good on pale hands as well as richer skin tones as the colours are full coverage with that unmistakably OPI quality finish. I for one hope the first two colours become a regular feature of the core range but I doubt it, I am already hogging bottles of My Favourite Ornament!

Miller Harris Noix de Tubereuse eau de parfumMiller Harris
Created by Lynn Harris with her 20 years of love, passion and training within the fragrance industry, Miller Harris – Noix de Tuberose is a truly indulgent, full-bodied feminine fragrance. Are you mysterious and exotic? Or would you like to be described as alluring and feminine? If so, then this fragrance should be on your wishlist.

Discreetly stylish packaging contains the heady eau de parfum of an overtly long-lasting fragrance, the heart of which is of course the tuberose, with the creaminess of tonka bean ever present. This fragrance is one to dress up for. Match rich velvet, cashmeres and silks, winter weddings, New Year’s Eve, family parties, or give an overtly feminine twist to everyday outfits to make you feel special.

I feel it's a fragrance for a woman who knows who she is and what she wants, it’s not for the young so don't buy it for teenagers. Do get it as a sophisticated and glamorous gift for someone you adore, when you want them to remember that love every time they wear it.

For the woman that loves ornaments, is house proud and collects or would like to collect Lalique, this is the ultimate gift. Lalique is synonymous with the aristocracy, the rich and famous, and has collectors all over the world. This beautiful presented trio of limited edition bottles filled with fine fragrance is one to keep for ever. Maybe the trio could mean something – three children could buy for their mother? Perhaps to mark three years together?

A beautiful keepsake with a world renowned brand name, this is definitely an exquisite gift that would be appreciated by the older generation rather than the young, and a dead cert if you know your loved one likes collecting keepsakes or adores her miniatures. Presented in a glamorous triptych box that opens out to backlight each different bottle in gold, I can imagine this proudly staying on display for many years to come reminding them of you every time they gaze adoringly at it!

Check back later this month for more new beauty.

Alison, I would like to buy make up for my mother who is elderly and has been in hospital. She has lost weight and does not get out a lot. However she is still very conscious of how she looks. She still uses powder and “rouge” that she used most of her life. Your advice would be much appreciated as I am sure that new make up would cheer her up considerably.
    Thank you

Hi Alison-I have Topsy-Turvy skin due to medication & mild eczema and switched to Decleor from Elemis. The highly fragranced Decleor products are causing more flaking. I always used PCM cream and love its light texture. Also what type of cleanser would you recommend? Usng Elemis Cleansing Balm swopped from SBC Collagen?

You showed a OPI set on your TV channel last night (November 16th) unfortunately I could not buy it then as friends just arrived. Is there any chance of buying this item now? It was about £35.00p for a very good set of varnishes and a drop nail setting lotion.
    Many thanks,
    Pat Burrell

    Hi Alison,
I’m a total QVC and beauty product addict having had a “face saving” situation when you introduced me to Decleor Neroli aromessence about 16 years ago!I wondered if you could advise me how to apply for a place on your customer panel.
Keep up the good work. Joan Stallard

    Hi Alison,
please can you help me with my NIGHTMARE skin! I am 33 years old and have suffered with cystic acne on and off over the years. I have taken loads of antibiotics/roacutane and currently on doxycyclin. I would like an anti aging routine being 33 that will balance my skin but also help with scars from the acne without being too harsh as i have a few broken capilaries on my cheeks that I have recently noticed. I would like my skin to look good in time for xmas and have no clue where to start! I am scared to try elemis try enzyme as i know you have to be careful with exfoliation but yet my skin needs it. help please

My 45 yr old husband has lots of slackened skin under his eyes. He is quite dry and at times very puffy. What is the best eye cream to buy.
