Netball Numpty and Imedeen Offer to help skin look younger

7

This week I posed a question on my Facebook page – what do you think made my face look like this? And the answers came thick and fast – and you can imagine what some said! Yes, this week I played NETBALL! The last time I played a game of netball was … I worked it out and it shocked me … 37 years ago. Yes really. Assuming I played it in my last year at school, so no wonder I ended up looking like this!

But I began looking like this – and rain didn’t stop play! What an awful week of weather, after the heatwave when I was out of the country (see last week’s blog). And I loved it, despite not getting my breath for about 50 minutes!

I used to play wing defence mostly – but this game was just a knock-about so we all swapped positions every so often. I went from the equivalent of Centre, to Goal Attack (I scored two goals! And missed loads more. Well I am only 5’4”!!) In the end I was so whacked-out I changed to Goal Keeper just so I didn’t have to run so far! Lol!

Anyway, the girls in Black Torrington were very gracious given how out of practice I am – including Wendy my second in command at Retreats for You, my guest house in Devon, whose idea it was for me to go along. I felt amazing afterward but the next day… OMG!!! My muscles ache sooooo muchhhhh! Anyway, I have decided it’d be a good thing to keep going and try to get better each week, and maybe by the time my daughter is married in September, I’ll be very much fitter and trimmer! Whoop!

Bodyblade back soon Talking of things to make you trim, do watch out for Bruce back with Bodyblade around 10th July!

Imedeen Ahoy! The famous and powerful skin supplement Imedeen is back this weekend with a super Today’s Special Value offer – two options. One with the new collagen shots, and the other with the nail and hair pack. I had some great results, as far as I could tell, with mine when I first started using them a few years ago. My skin density measurement went up when it was measured again three months later by lovely Emma, the Imedeen guest. Join us Saturday tea time for your daily tablets that can help your skin

And come back to this Early bird page on my Facebook page in the week where I will update the presell Early Bird order links for next week.

If you want, also  ‘like’ the Facebook page here, to be able to see other updates as they happen. (You don’t have to be on Facebook to see it as it’s a public post.)

Paul’s Leaving Just a quick goodbye and thanks to our lovely manager Paul who retired from QVC this week, having joined right at the start and risen through the ranks including as a Director (the ones who press the buttons and cut the pictures you see.) Good luck to the fabulous guy for a happy retirement! Missing you already. And best wishes to Sean who takes over – you have your work cut out looking after us! Lol.

Mummy in her Glad Rags
I found this lovely pic of my mum from last week’s wedding – bless her – isn’t she lovely! She likes a bit of Laura Geller, does my ma, and there’s a super visit coming up soon from Laura – get a look at her range now though, by going here. Mum’s, of course, a nana too – of 16 – and a great nana of two, soon to be four! How lovely to have left such a legacy to the world. Well, most of them anyway! Talking of which…

Facebook Funny … my daughter Lauren thinks my mum is a crazy woman sometimes – so she posted this one this week, which made me laugh – as it’s so true!

Facebook Funny
And I posted this one – couldn’t resist it! And I will too. Be afraid…! By the way, the short story last week went down very well amidst the older audience – go here to read The Jolly Lodger if you missed it, it’s free, and see if you can guess the ending!

Have you got a Saffy? And talking of craziness, saw this and thought I’d post it in case anyone wants to apply – Lost in TV are often doing things like this and also offer tickets to see TV shows being recorded too – worth enrolling on their site.

Barry the Singing Councillor Joins our Devon concert This week I met up with my pal Sheena and chatted to Barry Pearson the locally renowned ‘singing councilor’ here in Devon, who has agreed to be the other ‘act’ at the charity concert I am arranging at The Plough in Torrington on September 16th (more here).

He was in the original ‘man band’ years ago and performed at the Café de Paris, Ronnie Scotts in the West end and often sings at events around here. I’m looking forward to hearing his songs from the musicals and rehearsing – we may do a duet too! I organised this event after enjoying singing with the jazz band live at the church charity event last November. It’s for Medical Detection Dogs – I’m hoping one of the team plus dog, will be attending too – so do come if you can!

View from a Room Had a lovely week at home in Devon this week even though the weather was awful! Apart from playing netball in the pouring rain, (pic above) I got up each day to this lovely view from my window – look at the fields in the distance – marvelous. I could get used to this.

Chuffed to bits Had some more lovely reviews of Retreats for You this week, which made me fill up with pride. One, in particular, made me very happy – we’ve been named one of the world’s top ten retreats for writers wanting to finish their books. Very pleased! More on my website blog here, including a behind-the-scenes look at my ‘other day job’ – a video inside the local village shop including a funny way to cool down!

Book of the Week Jackie Kabler recommended this one – said it had a very unpredictable ending. And considering I’m  always up for a challenge, I wanted to see if I could guess it. ‘Behind Her Eyes’ is the book – and so far I’m loving the audiobook – it’s very well narrated. More here.

Celebrating the Geek Inside – Again In October there’s a New Scientist talk all about the origins of man – I’ve booked already! Looking forward to it. If I’d been something else, I’d have been an archaeologist – I did an A’Level in it and loved it! You should book too if you like the same, it’s on Eventbrite. Craigy’s asked me to go on another one in November too – love all that stuff!

Facebook Funny – hehe! Keeping it ‘in the family’ so to speak, lol.

Blooper – How do you out your jeans on?!

Watch – My Cousin Rachel. This week we got all refined and went to watch the Daphne DuMaurier story on the big screen, an adaptation that is based on the book, with a few tweaks. I was looking forward to seeing Sam Claflin – remember a few weeks ago he was in my review of Their Finest and he was also the lead in Me Before You. He played the petulant under-25 year old hero well, but wasn’t up to the standard of his previous stellar roles, IMO. Worth seeing though – Rachel Weisz was very good, if a little young-looking for the role. But the eternal conundrum is still there … did she didn’t she… What did you think? Eight out of ten.

Looking forward to maybe seeing Churchill next week…

    Dear Debbie.
I am really interested in taking Imedeen as I’m in my early 50’s but I’m desperately trying to find true information about collagen and soy. There is so much controversial information out there, some say there is a link with breast cancer and soy products and also with collagen products. I’m not sure if this is just scare talk or if there is any truth in this. Apparently soy can play with our estrogen levels and Collagen causes dense breast tissue, both linked to breast cancer. I’m so confused and just wondered if you could shed any light on this as I know you take Imedeen. It’s all so confusing and I’m just desperately trying to find some constructive information to make a sensible, informed decision.
Thank you Debbie for any light you can shed on this.
    Best wishes
    Karen

Kath and Alison – thank you so much! Mind you it’s a bit disturbing when she looks back at you in your mirror each morning as you age! hehe! x
