Crikey! It wasn't until I looked at my last blog date that I realised almost two weeks have flown by! But what a fortnight eh? With your help we had another monumental Be Aware, Show you Care night on the 16th October, and managed to raise well over £320k for Breast Cancer Care!
To all those of you who watched, tweeted, blogged, called in, and bought the products – an almighty, great THANK YOU! If you did watch, you will have known that we sold out of all 4,000 'I Hope' pendants and, having read through all your lovely comments, I think I know who some of you are!
I was absolutely overwhelmed and, as you probably gathered, rather emotional too. I was doing pretty well right up until the point Charlie asked me about Ali's Army and then, in spite of myself, my mind took me back to my little cottage, where I often sat in the wee small hours replying to you, as I felt too ill to sleep…
You really were my life line and so, although I was tearful, I am very glad I managed to let everyone else know just how important you all are to me
There's always such a build up to this very special day and an incredible number of people involved, but this year perhaps more than most, it touched more of us than ever before. Working with Charlie and Deb was a real treat, and I think they did a brilliant job of moving through those three hours – as did Craig in the auction room!
I felt spoiled rotten with my makeover – check out the before and after – that was thanks to June, my make-up artist, who also created the masterpiece that was my updo! Thanks also to you for all your incredibly kind compliments about the dress! It was from Phase Eight and is also available in Navy Blue – it was thanks to my friend, Jo, for convincing me that the red looked best…I always tend to err on the side of caution!
It was great to meet the three catwalk models from the Fashion Show this year and we had a good old chin wag in the studio. A real treat too, being seated with Shane Lynch and his wife Sheena for the Boyzone Auction. All in all an incredible day and night: one that brought us all closer together and raised a huge sum of money for a wonderful charity who give practical and emotional support to all those struggling with this particular cancer…
Something you may want, and could win, are these! The latest nail effects from Nails Inc! £68 of value, and possibly yours if you answer the question below, and enter the draw! I will be lovingly lacquering my nails with them in the final of three 'Nail the Effect' shows this Sunday 27th at 11pm! Exciting! Perfect for party feet and hands this Christmas
And talking of Christmas, what do you think of the Christmas promo featuring all the presenters that you will have first seen on your screens last week? I do hope it made you smile, because most of us were in stitches making it at some point or another
Here I am (far left), still sporting a tan, and trying to get my head around the look of cold, but the feel of summer! Loads of us there and check out our models, Tanya and Cordelia, risking life and limb on the icy steps! The lovely Miceal was one of the other presenters filming that day and we had great fun exploring the house and taking photos wherever we could.
Cheeky game of snooker when no one was looking too! The icing on the Christmas cake for me though, was meeting Flavia and Vincent from Strictly, who were there to entertain us with a fabulous tango! They danced to 'All I want for Chrismas is You' and it was stunning!
The room was really small, and so they were incredibly close to us and the furniture, but whirled around without knocking into anything! I am such a HUGE fan of Strictly Come Dancing and have already bought Flavia and Vincent's DVD in the hope that Colin and I can maybe build on our earlier Strictly experience Of course we met up again on BCC night, when they danced us out at the end of the show. Dream on, Keenan…maybe one year, eh?
But back to the competition, and your chance to win these six fab nail effects from Nails Inc (pictured above), the incredibly successful British nail brand launched in 1999. My question to you is: Which young British entrepreneur launched the company?
a) Jenny Blue
b) Thea Green
c) Christian Grey
Just write your answer in the comment box below before the end of Sunday 3rd November and we will do the draw and announce the winner in my next blog! Be sure to leave your email address in the email box (it won't be made public) so that we can write you for your address if you're our lucky winner. You can find the full terms and conditions here.
It feels like I've been away for a long time having taken a couple of days leave, but I will be back with you this Sunday – not only Nails Inc at 11pm but Yankee Candle before that at 10pm. I'll look forward to your company as always, and your comments if you find time to write. I promise to be a little less tardy with my replies this week – laptop lurgy!
Take care, and thanks as always for keeping in touch.
With my love, Ali xx
