Do you remember way back at the beginning of the year that one of my New Year goals was to make sure that I go and see my dear friend Ant in his new place in the south of France? Well, I've just come back from my first visit and it was wonderful!
He's bought a converted mill in a little village called Granes, about an hour away from Carcassone. It was an amazing week, but there's so much to do that it ended up being a working holiday. First there were the freshwater pools to clear – do you think I look natty in my waterproofs?! (left). After that there was land to clear, mediaeval paths to tidy up and so much more. By the last day I put my foot down and said, 'no more work, today's being spent in the hammock!' (right)
It was wonderful to be outdoors, getting things done. We were also taking the dogs out everyday for long walks and the sense of community you felt down in the valley as you walked through was lovely. The dogs were absolute sweethearts – how can you not fall in love with a face like this (left)?
Have you ever been to this area of France? It'd be wonderful to know if you've visited and if you could recommend things to do the next time I'm there – if I don't end up working the whole time again!
See you all soon,
