My working holiday in France

Craig cleans out the pool Hi there,

Do you remember way back at the beginning of the year that one of my New Year goals was to make sure that I go and see my dear friend Ant in his new place in the south of France? Well, I've just come back from my first visit and it was wonderful!

He's bought a converted mill in a little village called Granes, about an hour away from Carcassone. It was an amazing week, but there's so much to do that it ended up being a working holiday. First there were the freshwater pools to clear – do you think I look natty in my waterproofs?! (left). Craig takes it easy! After that there was land to clear, mediaeval paths to tidy up and so much more. By the last day I put my foot down and said, 'no more work, today's being spent in the hammock!' (right)

Cute greyhound It was wonderful to be outdoors, getting things done. We were also taking the dogs out everyday for long walks and the sense of community you felt down in the valley as you walked through was lovely. The dogs were absolute sweethearts – how can you not fall in love with a face like this (left)?

Have you ever been to this area of France? It'd be wonderful to know if you've visited and if you could recommend things to do the next time I'm there – if I don't end up working the whole time again!

See you all soon,
Craig. xx.

That looked like a wonderful holiday Craig, you do have the knack of sharing your love of life.I looked carefully at the beautiful picture of the dog and then the one of you in the hammock,in my opinion the dog wins, you could not stay still long enough to chill out the way that beautiful hound does.Theres always the next corner to look round or the bend in the road that leads to a new adventure, and you dont like staying still too long, theres the world to see and I hope you continue to enjoy exploring that next bend in the road, just as long as you report back every now and then,
