Just thought I'd share a few photos from my recent break in Malta. Thank you SO much if you were one of the helpful few who were sending me tips and suggestions for what to do via my Facebook page (Craig Rowe Tvpresenter) while I was there.
It was my first trip to Malta, so I was at a bit of a loss of what to do and where to go. I suppose that's the risk you take when you book last minute and don't have time to research!
The weather the whole week was glorious, wonderful sunshine but not too hot. We did find some great places to eat and towards the end of the stay we stumbled on a great place for cocktails – I'm not really into wine and beer, but I do love my cocktails!
The highlights of the week were:
– Spending two days in Gozo, a neighbouring island to Malta that you reach by ferry. It's so laid back and friendly. We explored in perhaps the best and worst way; by bike. Best because by cycling around I got a sense of of the lanscape much better than being in a car, and worst because Gozo is SO hilly and the humidity was through the roof, so it was pretty hard work! I was so proud I did it though.
- Meeting the wonderful Eve in a hotel we spent some time in at St Julians. She was the friendliest, funniest, most charming woman who has this ability to make you feel at ease within seconds. We spent a fair bit of time with her in the fab Moorish chill out area.
- A visit to Comino, another island near Malta. We visited the Blue Lagoon and I've never seen water like it – the most perfect azure blue. The waterproof camera came in really handy again for the snorkelling!
I really enjoyed the beauty and ruggedness of Malta, it's quite unlike any other place I've visited and I'm sure I'll return someday. The only thing I'd do differently next time is to choose a better hotel! The one we stayed in was slightly stuck in the '70s and very tired looking. But in a way that was quite a positive thing as it encouraged us to get out and about!
See you all soon,
