My wonderful week in Malta

Craig takes a dip Hi there, hope you're all well!

Just thought I'd share a few photos from my recent break in Malta. Thank you SO much if you were one of the helpful few who were sending me tips and suggestions for what to do via my Facebook page (Craig Rowe Tvpresenter) while I was there.

It was my first trip to Malta, so I was at a bit of a loss of what to do and where to go. I suppose that's the risk you take when you book last minute and don't have time to research!

Craig enjoying his cocktail The weather the whole week was glorious, wonderful sunshine but not too hot. We did find some great places to eat and towards the end of the stay we stumbled on a great place for cocktails – I'm not really into wine and beer, but I do love my cocktails!

The highlights of the week were:

Craig on the ferry to GozoSpending two days in Gozo, a neighbouring island to Malta that you reach by ferry. It's so laid back and friendly. We explored in perhaps the best and worst way; by bike. Best because by cycling around I got a sense of of the lanscape much better than being in a car, and worst because Gozo is SO hilly and the humidity was through the roof, so it was pretty hard work! I was so proud I did it though.

Craig at the Splash & Fun Waterpark - Visiting the Splash & Fun Waterpark in the south of Malta. My Fuji waterproof camera came in really handy!

Craig, Eve and Stuart - Meeting the wonderful Eve in a hotel we spent some time in at St Julians. She was the friendliest, funniest, most charming woman who has this ability to make you feel at ease within seconds. We spent a fair bit of time with her in the fab Moorish chill out area.

Stuart and Craig enjoy cocktails at the Hotel Intercontinental - Drinking cocktails at the Hotel Intercontinental in Paceville by the sea. You can see Stuart and I enjoying a couple of amaretto sours in this pic – bliss!

Craig snorkelling - A visit to Comino, another island near Malta. We visited the Blue Lagoon and I've never seen water like it – the most perfect azure blue. The waterproof camera came in really handy again for the snorkelling!

Blue Lagoon on Comino I really enjoyed the beauty and ruggedness of Malta, it's quite unlike any other place I've visited and I'm sure I'll return someday. The only thing I'd do differently next time is to choose a better hotel! The one we stayed in was slightly stuck in the '70s and very tired looking. But in a way that was quite a positive thing as it encouraged us to get out and about!

Maltese sunset Hope you like the photos, and I'd love to hear from you about your recent holidays or days out. Please do feel free to get in touch via the Comments section below.

See you all soon,
Craig. x.

    Hi Craig
Glad to hear you had a great holiday. We went to Malta quite a few years back now and was there to celeberate New Year – we had a great time.
We have just got back from Paphos, Cyprus – our 5th visit. It is a great place to chill out, lovely restaurants, in fact you are spoilt for choic where to eat, and we had some great cocktails!! You can also go scuba diving, something I didn’t do, but my husband did, and he said the water was clear and the fish were amazing.
Looking forward to hearing bout your next holiday.

Oh Craig, what a lovely holiday, thanks for taking us with you, I think it’s the nearest I’m going to get to a sunshine holiday this year.
I don’t expect you’ll post this bit, I do enjoy your blogs. I’m a blogger to; I went live too late to write about the bulb planting this year, but it was massive, miniature daffs included.

It’s a marmite place you either love it or hate it , we loved it. People are so friendly. My parents have been 5 times and are booked for next year already

    Dear Craig,
We went to Malta last year and agreed the landscape and the sea were beautifully rugged. Like you we stayed in a rather odd hotel but we certainly had a laugh.
This year we went to Puglia in the southern ‘heel’ of Italy – it was a beautiful place – wonderful beaches, food and wine. I highly recomend it.
Looking forward to seeing you back on QVC!

    Hi Craig
There are so many other sites to see in Malta as we are rediscovering I am Maltese returning to live in Malta almost 5 years ago after 40 years of nursing in England. I live in the south of Malta quite different from the north and less “touristy” and more typical of the relaxed lives we now lead here.
I used to love watching and shopping from QVC and got to know the presenters as they joined and left and had favourites. You joined after we left the UK as I do not remember seeing you then. We did however get QVC for 3 hours on a morning on NICKELODEON I think and I saw what was probably your first presentation after you joined? Now I have to rely on the web and watch less often.
Unfortunately the price of postage puts me off ordering as much as I did before. My favourites are Diamonique, Cooks Essential and Northern Nights. The latter two often too heavy and too costly postage wise. Get in touch before your next visit and get some insider knowledge from a local regarding activities and places to stay etc?

    Hi Craig,
Glad you enjoyed your trip to Malta. First time I went to Malta was to celebrate my 40th in 1999. What a wonderful two weeks. It was always somewhere I wanted to go. My husband and I stayed at Golden Sands Hotel at Golden Bay. I must admit it was like something out of Hi-De-Hi. Stuck in the seventies. We visited again in 2001 at the same hotel. This would be the last time as they were going to knock it down and build a new one. We watched the new one being built on line. In 2002 we stayed at The Coastline in Salina Bay on the otherside of the island. We enjoyed our stay here aswell. But we wanted to return to Golden Bay. In 2005 the new Golden Sands and Spa opened. So in 2006 we returned to Golden Bay. Its Five Stars all the way. It was gorgeous, beautiful decor, staff couldn’t do enough for you and the food was something else. The fish(lampuki) and salads are to die for.Yes its more expensive but worth every penny. Please try to visit again, there is always something new to see. If I could I’d visit every year. Malta is a wonderful place to relax. Its so laid back. Love Dawn
