Hi everyone, what a nightmare week I have had.
My son broke his arm on Saturday, not playing sport or anything dramatic like falling out of a tree. He simply slipped over while running into his bedroom to plug in his PSP. Bless him, he has been so brave and all the ambulance team and medical staff praised him for the way he coped. I am so proud of him.
It's a nasty break unfortunately. The humerus bone is completely snapped midway between the shoulder and elbow. They have decided not to operate with rods and pins etc but instead are going to fit some kind of brace or shield today.
The consultant said that Taylor would look like a Storm Trooper from Star Wars, which made him smile. At least it means I might be able to wash his hair without covering him in a bin bag!
So at the moment I'm into home schooling and, as you know from when I try to work out the QVC savings, maths is not my strong point, but I'm doing my best. I always thought literacy was my best subject but trying to remember all the nouns, pronouns and verbs etc is hard work and what on Earth is an imperative adverb, for goodness sake! I'm too old for all this stuff.
I hope all the mums out there have a great Mother's Day. As long as Taylor feels up to it, we are off down the pub for Sunday lunch, which, knowing us lot, will probably be about 6pm!
Do let me know If you have any experience of children with broken bones. Everyone talks about how quickly kids heal but it's hard to imagine when you see them so in pain.
Here's to a relaxing accident free weekend.
