I have been bouncing off the walls ever since I found out that I'd be attending the BAFTAs and presenting Jewellery from the BAFTAs Style Suite.
My preparations for the event began about a week ago. I treated myself to a professionally applied spray tan which was wonderful. Just one problem – I must have slept with my palms against my new tan and awoke to find my hands were, by far, the brownest part of my body! Luckily they faded a bit.
A day or two before the long-awaited BAFTA ceremony my son developed a very nasty virus. He shared it with me and I lost my voice on Saturday and felt hideous. I was determined to be there though, no matter what!
Sunday, BAFTA day, Steve and I went into London nice and early and I had my nails manicured at the Nails Inc Champagne nail bar in Harvey Nichols. I felt very pampered!
After that Pam, a make-up artist for Sue Devitt cosmetics, gave me a very glamorous makeover, again in Harvey Nic's. She is a master at what she does and worked wonders with my dark circles and red nostrils.
At 4pm it was time to say bye to Steve (aww) for the night and meet the team at the Style Suite in the Mandarin Oriental - very swanky. Daniel looked so very dapper and had the shiniest shoes in the world (when I looked down I could see up my nose, such was the reflection).
The red carpet was just wonderful. Sunshine, flashbulbs, sparkle and then we spotted our beautiful Kathy Tayler and wonderful QVC crew Nigel, Karen and Caroline. Kathy worked her magic with the stars getting some great interviews.
We had a wonderful dinner with Tamara Beckwith and Tania Bryer joining us alonside Andrea and Lucy, two features editors from Celebs on Sunday and more members of our QVC team. I sincerely hope none of them have caught my flu!
The show on QVC was unforgettable for me. I had an amazing time. I just hope, maybe one day, my Fairy Godmother will be watching over and utter those magical words, 'You shall go to the ball' and I will be treated to the BAFTAs again. What an experience!
Love Catherine x
