My mate Uri

Uri Geller and Julia Roberts What an unexpected pleasure it was to work with Uri Geller last week, particularly as it was his anniversary show. Catherine was due to present but was off poorly, so I stepped in instead.

As well as taking lots of calls about the jewellery, we also had a few calls about the Michael Jackson tribute programme that Uri was hosting on ITV last Sunday. I wonder if you saw it?

After the show he insisted on taking this picture of us so I could post it up on my blog, which I thought was really nice of him to do.

Speaking of Michael Jackson, I heard that his youngest child is nicknamed Blanket! It reminded me of Sophie's favourite doll when she was little – she called it Packet! Neither she nor I have any idea why, and I just wondered if you or your children have given weird names to toys?

Have a great weekend,
Julia. xx.

Hi Sue, yes I did get your blog about your B & W book find, I replied to it yesterday, but it only got posted this morning. I thought Uri was on very good form for his show and he is very kindhearted. See you for the B & W shows 12th and 13th

    Hiya Julia
Just thinking about odd names we gave toys – I had a rag doll when I was little girl in the 80s, I didn’t name it at all, until my mother put it in the washing machine and it came out with all it’s hair stood on end. For some reason after that I named it Miffy. Goodness knows why ;).
The other weird one I had relates to the old story of children preffering to play with the packaging rather than the actual toy! Well, one year I got this present that came in a cardboard box with loads of those little foam pieces in it (you know the ones I mean). I was probably only about 2 or 3. Anyway, the toy got pushed to one side, and the foam pieces and cardboard box were played with until they fell apart. I haven’t a clue where it came from, but I decided to call the foam shavings ‘shibbums’ – haven’t a clue what I was trying to say or where it came from, but it stuck and everytime we get a parcel that contains them, that’s what we call them.
As you can see I was a strange child 😉
Love and hugs to you, just watching the pre-season autumn fashion show, you look tres fabulous-o.

Hi julia. I hope you dont mind me asking this question…. As a 30year old woman with a 34e bust, I was wondering what range of bras you prefer. I am asking you this as I think you will have a lot of experience in this department! Thanx for your help. love caroline xx

Cubby. It’s a small bears head sewn into a velvet & silk blanket. We THINK it’s because our daughter can’t say “comfort blanket”, so it comes out as cubby. Who knows!

Hello Kitty, ‘tres fabulous-o’ ……….. I LOVE it! I think Miffy is a great name, much more interesting than Margaret and Jill which were my dolls names. Actually I wasn’t really into dolls, I loved my teddy instead, who I still have if a little worse for wear.
As for shibbums …….. no comment, although I’ll probably think that everytime I open a QVC parcel from now on.
If you like your QVC fashion watch out for Fashion Day this coming Friday

Hi Caroline, you guessed correctly, I am a similar bra size to you. I always used to wear ‘Valisere’ but I have had trouble finding them recently in my size so have just been wearing ‘Fantasie’ lately. I keep meaning to try ‘Bravissimo’ as they cater for the fuller cup sizes, maybe you could give them a go

Hello Stuart, that is so cute and a bit more original than ‘blankie’. As I’ve landed Sophie ‘in it’, I should probably just mention that Daniel used to call ‘Hula Hoops'(the snack) ‘ro-ro’s’!!!- maybe because they were round?
