“Claire, would you mind letting us film you getting your ‘everyday’ face on? We think it may make interesting viewing… be bare-faced and ready at 2pm pleeeeeease”
Well, if Rox, one of the Producers for our additional channels, thought it may make interesting viewing, who am I to argue, though after a number of early 5am starts and the usual busy days in between those on QVC, the thought of bare-faced at 48 years old was a little daunting (I think that was clearly shown on my face as Rox snapped me before we got going).
Anyway, off we went and the result is below. I hope you agree with Rox and do find it interesting – does it bear resemblance to what you do? Incidentally all of that can happen in about four minutes flat, but I thought I would do it carefully as you were watching. It did amuse me when Charlie came in and had watched it all the way through and was quoting things back to me to prove he had watched it, though let’s hope he doesn’t start putting any of it into practice!
The video is also going to be played during ‘Make-Up Tutorials’ on Friday 12th June at 11am and Sunday 14th at 1pm and ‘Meet the Presenter’ on Sunday 14th at 5pm if you fancy watching on QVC Beauty on Sky channel 668, Freesat channel 816, Freeview channel 35 or online right here.

Do you know that QVC commissioned a survey of 2,003 UK adults in May as we prepared to celebrate June Beauty Month, and had some fabulous and fun findings? It was reported that 68% of women would not want to emulate the heavily made-up beach look sported by some celebrities, favouring instead a more natural look. I’m not saying that my look is a beach look, but it’s fairly natural in the scheme of things I guess.
It also appears that in the North you’re likely to spend £200 on pre-holiday treatments (fake tan being a number one priority!) and just £80 in the South with manicure and pedicures being the main indulgence. I wonder what your priority is when it comes to getting yourself “beach ready”, or pool-side ready for that matter, if you’re sand phobic like me! Do let me know as I think it’ll make for fab reading. Oh and do put whether you are from the North or South and we can conduct our own little survey.
I wouldn’t fake tan before a holiday but the removal of any hair one wishes not to be seen is a priority for sure and that was certainly classed as one of the survey nightmares, along with pinkness on day one and see-through swimwear! Yup, I recall that was one nightmare that came true for me one year… never again so far! I was also shocked to read that although 70% buy sunscreen before their holiday only 43% actually apply it. Do not let Abby Cleeves or Alison Young read that … let us not forget it’s our biggest weapon in this world of “Beauty”.
One of my dreams (still to be realized – Dan take note!) is to be told to arrive at the airport as I am to be then allowed free reign to buy everything for the trip at the airport. That would be such fun, although I’m a creature of habit when it comes to holidays with favourite outfits, sarongs, bikinis etc… that said, I am SO up for it. Has that ever happened for you?
Talking of indulgence, it’s my lovely husband’s birthday this week and I have him booked in with me for a pamper. It’s a surprise but I really hope he is man enough to enjoy a full body massage, deep cleanse facial, pedicure and manicure. It’s going to be most amusing, the poor girls at the spa coping with Mr. Landscaper’s hands and muscles for that matter, though he does less of the physical stuff these days and spends hours at his desk, designing, quoting, and sorting everything, so much so that last week some tough physical work has resulted in Mr. Banana Man! He is currently at the chiropractor and I’m hoping he returns upright and not with one half of his body angled weirdly over to one side.
My next blog will be “Brotherly Love” as we’ve got Neil, my brother, back home for two lovely weeks…Oz and Singapore are sooooo far away!
Do let me know if you liked the video, and do chat back, you know I love that.
Lots of love, Claire xx
