My London Half Marathon. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, but……………

The 2012 Olympic squad can sleep safely in their beds knowing now that Anne Dawson certainly poses no threat!

Still, I completed it, and I live to tell the tale (well just about anyway). 2 hours, 46 minutes and 45 seconds. Hardly a world record, but at least it wasn't dark when I finished, and there were still a few thousand behind me believe it or not.

I had to walk the ninth mile as my ankle was playing up a bit. I tell you what though, what an amazing atmosphere. Running past Big Ben, the London Eye, and up the mall with Buckingham Palace ahead of you………. It was truly was spectacular.

I was following two young girls dressed up as Batman and Robin. Well for 9 miles anyway. The reason being, they were getting fantastic support and shouts of encouragement from the crowds and in my little exhausted mind, I was playing a wee game pretending it was for me!!! Nuts? Certainly! But it kept me going.

Now I feel like I've been hit by a bus! You wouldn't think running could do that would you? I staggered into work on Monday and could barely put one foot in front of the other. I carried my shoes around with me all day and just popped them on before shows. Need to make a massive speedy recovery though as it's the Zumba TSV Tuesday midnight!!

Do tune in and keep me company.

And so with aching muscles and tired limbs from 5 days ago, I love you and leave you with a thought….. Do you think I'd do it again? You bet your life I would!! Amazing experience!

Take care

Anne xxx

    Hi Anne,
You’re fab!! Such an achievement!!! You really do deserve a medal! I hope you got one?! I hope your limbs are a bit looser?! I am just going to watch your Zumba tonight…I love your presenting and you’re so god at Zumba! Your rapport with Matt seems great too. I loved your pink top you’d on the last TSV lauch. It must have been amazing to run/walk along the Mall like you said and even better that you’d do it again! You nutter! You, Ali K, Kathy and Debs G would make a great relay team you know – fun girls and love doing your challenges!
    Take care

Anne I am so sorry but my comment the other day seems to have disappeared! A few people seem to have found there’s been a few gremlins stealing their comments! I cannot remember what the heck I wrote now…but I’ll just say now that I am so amazed that you made that achievement and I hope you got a medal?! You are fabulous and I think the next time you girls want to do something wacky for charity or whatever, you need to make up a relay team of you, Debs G, Kathy and Ali!! Troopers that you are!
So glad Danny’s Dad is home now and I hope you’re taking time for yourself if you’re able to in amongst all your caring duties. You also were fab on the Zumba shows! Nachos!!!!!
    Love Susan x

Well done Anne, so glad you finished. I bet the Zumba’ing was tough going for you. It didn’t show on the bits I saw. I am very tempted by Zumba but I couldn’t live without my daily half hour on my Aero Pilates machine. I suffer with neck and shoulder pain from a lot of PC work and it really helps to sort me out after a long day at work. Zumba does look great fun though but it’s fitting it all in! I’m not sure whether it was sixth sense on your part about me coming back to QVC Towers but I’ve had an invite to an Elemis Workshop in November. I’m ecstatic! Hope to see you again.

    Hi Anne
Sorry to be so late in leaving a comment – i’ve been up to my eyes with work(beleive it or not in London!!) anyway now i’m back and i was really pleasantly surprised to see another blog from you(your getting good babex). Well firstly a really big congratulations re you completing your marathon and your timings were great too(i’d have been still running,or at least trying too!!) – you must be feeling good(if a little sorex) – i hope you got a medal or something to remember the event by? Well now onto Zumba – your TSV launch was brilliant(you’ve toned up even more – looking good babex) and the music just makes everything so enjoyable – i was only able to watch the first 30min(in my hotel room) as i had a very early breakfast meeting the next day but what i saw was great fun – i had already obtained the extra DVD set – targeting zones -so didnt buy this time, but would recommend Zumba to everyone.Sitting here having breakfast and watching a little of QVC’s Christmas weekend- i love my pink slanket. I’m really looking forward to the L’Occitane TSV tonight at midnight – i bought the two boxes last year and see from the Q Gossip sneaky peak that we are getting another two sets(with boxes) this year – such a great idea as you just need to put a bow and a from/to card onto it. Look after yourself Anne – happy Zumbaing!! Speak on your next blog love Linda Glasgowxx

Hi Anne well done on completing the Marathon – I’m full of admiration for you. You are looking amazing and looked fantastic on the Zumba TSV shows. After seeing how well you’ve done with Zumba it inspired me to try out the classes they have at my gym and I adore it so I have to say a very big Thank you to you for that. Its really helped me to tone up and lose weight although I’m recently back from my holiday in Spain and finding it hard to get back in the zone since. Any tips on that?
Look forward to seeing you on screen again soon,

I did catch Carmel for a bit and my what a figure she has!!

    Hi Anne
I heard you say that you had experienced a lot more than feeling better and a half marathon from taking up Zumba and that you would have to blog about it in 2012 – i’m now very curious – and am really looking forward to reading your next few(or at least one) blog. On NYE we had a small informal gathering(around four couples) to bring in the new year, anyway i had been telling the ladies about Zumba and mentioned your good self and that you would be bringing in the new year on QVC selling some Zumba “stuff”. Well you’ve guessed it – after the men(all dark headed(and carrying black bun, shortbread and coal),apart from one who is bald but had dark hair when younger)had first footed us we cleared an area and all started zumbaing(it made a nice change from the Alexander Brothers and Thingmymagig(sp)!!)- we had an hilarious ball of a time – loved it – and as usual you looked as if you were having a ball too. I welcomed two new arrivals into my home over Christmas – two white west highland terriers – a boy and a girl – brother and sister and they are called Mac and Mabel – i’m totally in love and dont even mind the extra steam clening that is needed while they are being trained!! I just love west highland terriers especially the white dogs – i love the way they seem to swagger when they walk. Anyway i’m rambling on as usual – look after yourself and get bloggingxx Love Linda,Mac and Mabelxxx Glasgow
