The 2012 Olympic squad can sleep safely in their beds knowing now that Anne Dawson certainly poses no threat!
Still, I completed it, and I live to tell the tale (well just about anyway). 2 hours, 46 minutes and 45 seconds. Hardly a world record, but at least it wasn't dark when I finished, and there were still a few thousand behind me believe it or not.
I had to walk the ninth mile as my ankle was playing up a bit. I tell you what though, what an amazing atmosphere. Running past Big Ben, the London Eye, and up the mall with Buckingham Palace ahead of you………. It was truly was spectacular.
I was following two young girls dressed up as Batman and Robin. Well for 9 miles anyway. The reason being, they were getting fantastic support and shouts of encouragement from the crowds and in my little exhausted mind, I was playing a wee game pretending it was for me!!! Nuts? Certainly! But it kept me going.
Now I feel like I've been hit by a bus! You wouldn't think running could do that would you? I staggered into work on Monday and could barely put one foot in front of the other. I carried my shoes around with me all day and just popped them on before shows. Need to make a massive speedy recovery though as it's the Zumba TSV Tuesday midnight!!
Do tune in and keep me company.
And so with aching muscles and tired limbs from 5 days ago, I love you and leave you with a thought….. Do you think I'd do it again? You bet your life I would!! Amazing experience!
