My first TV show reel

Video tape Hello!

Hope all is well and you're having a good week! Remember these -video tapes! To be fair you can of course still buy them, and VHS players too (we still have ours, but rarely use it).

Although only October, we're having a bit of an early 'spring clean' clear out and I came across stacks of VHS tapes, including, my first TV showreel, which I made around 15 years ago!

Back then I was doing all I could to break into Children's TV. So I hired a camcorder and got filming. It featured various pieces to camera – Blue Peter style, and also me doing a bungee jump (that's a blog in itself – scary! Although my words weren't so polite when jumping!) So the show reel was made and I got posting… pretty much to all and everyone. It was non-stop copying and sending.

There's one occasion where I dubbed the tape to send to the Disney Channel in London. I grabbed the Jiffy bag, CV, covering letter and sent the tape by special delivery. I'd spoken to a producer there and they were expecting the tape – so great, all was going well.

After getting back from the post office I popped on the TV… but something caught my eye. My show reel was lying on the floor next to the TV! So what, exactly, had I sent to the Disney Channel? I looked along the shelf… and missing was the tape on which I'd recorded an episode of Columbo! Oops!

Well let's hope it's relatively mistake free when I'm next on air! I'm loving my beauty shows and am on air with a show called 'Fabulous at 40 and Beyond' this Sunday 9th October at 4pm. Looking ahead to Tuesday 12th October at 11pm, I'm really looking forward to my beauty show with Decleor.

Take care and see you soon

    Hi Charlie
You are fantastic at presenting jewellery shows but I have recently seen you presenting Laura Geller and Judith Williams. In both shows you were absolutely brilliant! it made the always great shows (I am in love with makeup and skincare) so much more enjoyable to watch. So, I am hoping you will be presenting many more beauty shows as well as your best jewellery shows.
Many thanks for so much entertainment and information.
