I just had to let you know some exciting news in the Halliday household as my daughter won the All England Dance Festival at the Hackney Empire with her Musical Theatre group!
It was an incredible evening. The standard of the final was just amazing and would seriously give any West End show a run for its money. She did King of New York which is from the Broadway musical Newsies and they were fantastic.
The competition runs every two years with heats around the country, so it’s been two years of hard work and it was an accomplishment just to make the final, so to win was unbelievable – I was so emotional I didn’t even hear who came second and third until much later.
They then were asked to perform in the All England Gala. Wayne Sleep was there who is one of the patrons of the competition. It was a lovely day but an early start as we had to be there in costume with hair and makeup at 9.30am for the rehearsal call, and I’d worked late at QVC the night before – it took lots of coffee to keep me going!
Finally all our exam results I told you about in May are in. Everything was passed with flying colours. Ballet, singing and drama exams were all excellent and my son passed his Grade 8 saxophone with a superb result, we were so proud. He really is such an accomplished player now and just a joy to listen to – he’s definitely inherited my dad’s jazzy bones.
I’m hoping the rest of August stays sunny before school starts again in September but one thing I am looking forward to in September is Diamonique Day, which is happening on Friday 5th. I’ve just heard that Michelle Mone OBE is bringing her brand new Diamonique collection to QVC which will premiere on the day. I can’t wait!
Enjoy the sunshine,
