My dad’s 90th and flowers from QVC

Richard's Floric bouquet We’ve just spent a very happy few days celebrating my dad’s 90th birthday. We had two parties, one with his ex-work colleagues and another with our family. The next day, we then drove up to north Yorkshire to Runswick Bay where he grew up as a lad.

We were very lucky with the weather, we missed those torrential downpours and the coastline and Yorkshire Moors looked so beautiful bathed in sunshine. I could have happily stayed for a few more days but couldn’t, as I had to get back for work.

I was greatly cheered up on my return by receiving a bouquet of flowers from QVC (being their gardening expert does have its perks sometimes!). They had kindly sent me a bouquet of glorious gerberas from their new flower ordering service, Floric.

The special autumn arrangement is one of a selection just being launched on the website. It looks stunning and really brightens up our kitchen. They also look so fresh that I reckon they’re going to last for ages.

But I can’t stay indoors admiring them as my spring flowering bulbs have just arrived and I’m itching to start planting them…

Happy gardening,

Dear Richard – I bought some Alstromerias in the summer and would like to know whether they should be dug up or left in the ground over winter?
