My Christmas checklist

Exmoor Style pork sausages

I have to admit to nearly choking on my licorice tea when I heard Dawn Bibby say there were only 89 days until Christmas, which made me realise I needed to start gathering my thoughts and my plans!

Ordering the turkey

To be honest this year – as with the last two – I shall order my Christmas turkey, gammon, sausages and other meats from Exmoor Style here at QVC because you can either have it delivered in November or just before Christmas – depending on how full your freezer is! Or in my case how much room there is as I haven't defrosted it for ages!

Buying Christmas gifts

Diamonique flower ring

I've already started buying gifts! Beauty Day was a great help there and I'm now making notes whenever I see a particularly pretty piece of jewellery that I think would make a good present – watch out for Gem Day, oh, and Diamonique Day too!

Making the Christmas cake

Colin made another spectacular cake for our friend's 50th birthday, which was made in the shape of a theatrical stage, and so with the offcuts I will be making a randomly shaped Christmas cake! I'll let you see the finished result come December when I marzipan it!

Top tip: I find it's always best to leave the icing until the week before Christmas as I use the Ready to Roll stuff and in a warm house it can crystalize a tad.

Die Cuts with a View Christmas card kit

Christmas cards

I'll be honest and admit to only ever making one Christmas card at a special Craft Day with Leoni Pujol, and so I tend to buy them about the beginning of December and send them out last thing – 'cos that way you've received most of yours and don't forget anyone!

Having read all that back I realise I'm actually a lot more organised than I thought.

Enjoy our run up to Christmas this weekend, and happy shopping!

Plus, I'd love to know how all your preparations are going so feel free to drop me a line.

Love Ali x

    Hi Ali
Iam one of the people how love Christmas sooooo much that I start shopping and card list by the end of August.
Ican”t help it I just love all the build up. So early September thanks to QVC I bought a Christmas cards making kit, which is great, I made nearly all my cards (45) already, and I also started to buy the presents, again thanks to QVC, got some great staff the last few weeks, lots of TSV (what would I do without you QVC, being in Spain, only God knows).
But this year I don”t have to worry about the food, as we are going to Egypt for Christmas to see my sister, and we are all staying in a hotel in Cairo for Christmas, so someone else is cooking for me for a change.
Enjoy the build up and your Christmas, all the best to you and your family.

Hi Magda, gosh you have been industrious!! Well done for making all those cards – you put me to shame :) I’m sure everyone who receives one will be delighted. It’s great to hear that you manage to get so many things from us in spite of the fact you live in Spain. Hats off to our delivery service eh?! Christmas will certainly be different for you this year, and I envy you the location. I’ve never been to Egypt but it’s on my wish list. I’ve not spent Christmas with my sister either for a very long time, so perhaps that part I can change this year. I hope you have a fabulous time and are really able to make the best of someone else doing the cooking and clearing up. Hope you and your family are well. Love Ali xx

Hello Tina, Lovely to hear from you, and even better to be able to tell you that the dress I was wearing is one from the Sara Campbell range we carry here at QVC. The item number is 143824 and it’s £82.50. It’s made from a fabulous fabric that has great weight to it, and an element of stretch, so although it’s quite fitted, it doesn’t feel uncomfortable. Hope this helps, and good to know you’re watching. Hope your week works well for you. ali x

Delighted to hear that we’re making it a tad easier for you Dorothy :) Your Laura sounds like I was years ago. I remember once bribing my sister to show me what my Dad was making me for Christmas… in the shed! It was the most beautiful dolls house, but I was heartbroken that it wasn’t a surprise any more! What a twit! It’s great Laura keeps the spirit of Christmas alive for you. Lovely to hear from you as always, love Ali xxx

Hello Alison, I’ve just caught up with your last few blogs – the best on QVC! I’ve been very lazy, a return to school after the loooooong summer holiday is a shock to the system, I know how spoilt that makes me sound so I’ll shut up… I adored Christmas as a child and love it just as much now, I write my first gift list on the 1st of September, even though I may have started buying earlier. There are some decorations that go up for the 1st of December, however, the tree is always left until our daughters are home for a weekend in the middle of the month. Even though I’ve had some awful times, when it has been difficult to find much to celebrate, Christmas has still remained that magical season. Love from Jo in Stourbridge.

Jo how lovely to hear from you and am guessing your long summer holiday is down to the fact you work within the educational system in which case I think you more than deserve a long break! My sister works as a head of year and her hours are deadly. I think she’s already looking forward to half term :)
I love the sound of your Christmas’s and fully sympathise about how difficult it can sometimes be. My father left home on Boxing Day, and so Christmas after that was always a little sad…so much easier when I had children of my own. It is a magical time and I’m hoping this year we may even get some snow! You take care and keep in touch, and I like you will wait until the middle of December to put the tree up :)
    Love Ali x

Hi Alison, i am a christmasholic and absolutley love when all the christmas goodies are in the shops, i wonder round for hours window shopping knowing that i can order the presents in the warmth and comfort of my front room with a nice cup of tea in my hand from QVC. We are moving back to my home town at the end of october so this christmas is going be to wonderful because all the family go to my mums house for dinner (which we haven’t been able to do for years because of the distance) so its a real family christmas this year. I have to start writing my list for santa soon so my hubby can start saving for the yankee candles and beauty products that i would love. Have a lovely christmas and i hope santa brings you some lovely presents…..Luv Samantha in Bedfordshire xxx

Well Samantha we can’t be a million miles away from each other as we live in the same county, but I’m really pleased for you that you’ll be able to spend Christmas with your family this year. I’m sure your mum will be delighted to spend the time actually with you there too. I’d start writing your list straight away, and make sure you take a couple of copies cos you know what the chaps are like for losing things….! I’m glad too that you find it so easy to shop with us – it’s the same thing for the rest of us who work here – so much better than hiking around the shops in the cold I think. Love to you and yours, Ali x

Hi Ali, Can you remember a few weeks ago saying that since your teen age sons started using a certain product to wash with, they had stopped having break outs on their skins. I should have taken the number down but didn’t need it at the time, but my grandson has just started getting the dreaded spots and I thought you might just remember what is was.Thank you very much for hours of presenting on QVC with such professionalism, I never get tired of watching you, you are definitely my favourite presenter because you have such a lovely voice and make everything so interesting. Thank you

Hi Jacquie Lovely to hear from you and you are very kind to say such lovely things :) Of course I can help. The item no is 223104 and for that you’ll get three of the pump dispensers each with 250ml – plenty of months worth if just using on the face, but could obviously if he’s maybe suffering with spots on his back, neck, wherever! That’ll cost you £26.25, but the other available option is for one of the 250ml face washes and a full size deodorant and that’s £20.50. Either way, I KNOW it will help. My boys both have lovely skin and put it down to continued use of this…which reminds me I need to order more! Have a lovely week, and good to hear from you Jacquie. Love Ali xx
